ISLAMABAD (Reuters) – The U.S. military classified Pakistan's top spy agency as a terrorist support entity in 2007 and used association with it as a justification to detain prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, according to leaked documents published on Sunday that are sure to further alienate Pakistan.One document (http://link.reuters.com/tyn29r), given to The New York Times, say detainees who associated with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate "may have provided support to al-Qaida or the Taliban, or engaged in hostilities against US or Coalition forces."
The ISI, along with al Qaeda, Hamas and Hezbollah and Iranian intelligence, are among 32 groups on the list of "associated forces," which also includes Egypt's Islamic Jihad, headed by al Qaeda deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri.
The document defines an "associate force" as "militant forces and organizations with which al-Qaida, the al-Qaida network, or the Taliban has an established working, supportive, or beneficiary relationship for the achievement of common goals."...

Alienating Pakistan is the first thing the U.S. ought to have done as soon as this rogue Islamic state came into existence. So, an official government agency of a country that we're sending billions to and arming with our latest weapons, is listed as a terrorist-supporter.
In fact, this agency is said to support the same terrorists who killed 3000 of us on 9/11. Nice!!
To go along further - the head of this same terrorist agency was in the US a few days ago and comes and goes without any problems.
Also, the current chief of their army, who our leaders meet with frequently, was till a few years ago, the head of this very same terrorist-supporting agency.

This news does not come as a revelation to JW readers, because they know that in matters relating to Pakistan, the U.S. has an enormous capacity to defy simple rules of logic and common sense. Even a fifth grader from an inner city school would come up with a saner foreign policy than these feckless, brain-dead, bureaucrats in the State Department (or the White House, for that matter).

"Better Late Than Never" for USA to have realised the truth many years after suffering destruction of US property and loosing hundreds of US soldiers in Afganistan ! India has been giving concrete evidence of ISI's active participation in promoting Taliban & Al-Quaida in Afganistan war but , alas , knowingly or unknowingly ( oops !) USA depended upon ISI from the time of CIA's funding and training of "Mujahideens" against Soviet regime in Afganistan in eightees. Those very trained Mujahideens have now turned against USA by joining Al-Quida and Taliban and camping permanently in the North-Western area of Pakistan to attack regularly the US & NATO forces in Afganistan ! How naiive of USA to depend on Pakistani ISI in their war in Afganistan when the same ISA is the "protector" of Taliban & Al-Quaida in Pakistan. By this double-talk on Afgan issue with USA the Pakistanis have used Al-Quaida as a "milching cow" to extract billions of US dollars from USA ! What a tragedy of 21st century ! In this whole issue Great Britain too must be clinching millions of US dollars from the billions poured by USA in Pakistan ! God save Uncle Sam from this "thousand year war" in Afganistan !
