David B Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that WAHEED ISLAM, also known as “Walter Missouri, Jr,” 43, of Seaman Circle, Manchester, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Robert N Chatigny in Hartford to 18 months of imprisonment, followed by one year of supervised release, for illegally purchasing and possessing body armor. According to court documents and statements made in court, WAHEED ISLAM placed an order with an overseas company for a bullet-proof vest designed to withstand gunfire from a 9mm pistol. Federal agents learned of the shipment, intercepted the package, and monitored its delivery to the defendant’s Manchester residence on December 6, 2010, whereupon WAHEED ISLAM accepted delivery of the package. A short time later, agents executed a court-authorized search warrant at the residence and found the package containing the bullet-proof vest on the premises.ISLAM has previously been convicted of multiple felony crimes of violence, including first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. It is a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a violent felony to possess a bullet-proof vest. On January 19, 2011, ISLAM pleaded guilty to one count of possession of body armor by a violent felon. ISLAM has been detained since his arrest on December 6, 2010....
He is certainly correct, "Satan's soldiers are on the attack" and he, being one of them is preparing himself for the up coming offensive! He should received 18 years instead of 18 months.

I don't think this is newsworthy because he's just a nut. Islam exacerbates paranoia but just because he tried to buy a bullet proof vest doesn't mean he was planning to go berzerk. All it indicates is that he's paranoid and stupid.
There is a lot of schizophrenia, retardation and god knows what else caused by the arabic practice of unvetted cousin marriage. The maladaptive unfortunates that often result from such unions are targeted by jihadi recruiters for suicide attacks but they don't go Fort Hood on their own because they lack the meager mental capacity required to organize such atrocities on their own.
The fact that this guy tried to buy the bullet proof vest himself indicates to me that he's not connected to a network. I'm sure the handlers of a jihadi would either be able to get body armor thru contacts without tripping alarm bells or would know better then to try.
This isn't a thwarted jihadi episode but it's good that it's made the enemy aware that the US government is vigilant about such things.

Well, you learn something new every day. When I read the first few sentences of the article I got worried that bullet proof vests were illegal and that we were all sitting ducks. I had no idea that convicted criminals were not allowed to purchase or own body armor. I'm feeling better already. At last, a law that doesn't punish the law abiding.
