MONTREAL — Raz Somech, director of immunology at Israel’s largest pediatric hospital, is trained to save children’s lives. But in the Middle East, even a heroic struggle to keep a baby alive can become entangled in the region’s politics.The documentary Precious Life has turned the unassuming Dr. Somech into a celebrity with its portrayal of his effort to save a Palestinian baby born without an immune system. On Monday night he will be the star attraction at a screening of the film in Montreal as part of the Israel Film Festival.
His unexpected fame began with an action that to him was simply his duty as a physician. A sickly four-month-old Mohammed Abu Mustafa had arrived at the emergency room from Gaza. “It was very easy to diagnose him as having a severe type of immunodeficiency,” Dr. Somech said in an interview. The same genetic condition had already claimed the lives of two of Mohammed’s sisters, and without a costly bone marrow transplant, it was unlikely he would survive beyond his first birthday.
[...] And even after the funding has been secured and the transplant performed, Mohammed’s mother, Raida, makes a statement that calls into question all the efforts to save his life.
As she and the filmmaker, Israeli TV reporter Shlomi Eldar, discuss the status of Jerusalem, Raida says she would be proud to see her son grow up to be a suicide bomber. “Even the smallest infant, younger than Mohammed, to the oldest person, we’ll all sacrifice ourselves for Jerusalem,” she says. Asked by a dumbfounded Mr. Eldar whether she would let Mohammed become a shahid, or martyr, if he recovers, she replies, “Absolutely. If it’s for the sake of Jerusalem, I would.” Life, she says, is not precious. [...]
The film shows that Raida is a shrewd woman, and she later retracts her statement about wishing her son to become a martyr. There is a sickness in the region’s politics that no hospital can cure, as seen when Raida describes the suspicion she has fallen under back home for allowing her son to be treated in Israel. “Go to the Jews to get help for your son if you think they’re better than Arabs,” reads one message to her posted on the Internet.
Dr. Somech, 45, is convinced that Raida’s comments about Mohammed becoming a martyr were aimed at deflecting such criticism from Palestinians who saw her effort to save her child as traitorous. The film recently aired on an Israeli television station that broadcasts in Gaza, and Dr. Somech was nervous about how it would be received by the family’s neighbours. “We spoke immediately after, and they said they are very proud of the film, and in all the neighbourhood they became stars,” he said. “We could say that by saying what Raida said about her son [growing up] to be shahid, she bought life insurance for herself.”...

when you have to lie about those who saved your child goes to show that islamic society is indeed very sick. the price of getting back Jerusalem by these islamists is so degrading that their society is not worth saving. these islamists do worship at the alter of death, while the West find life to be precious.

We have become insane. And we speak of it as if it is normal.
We give, just to choose one example out of many, aid to assist the flooding that occurred in Pakistan several months ago. The Pakis, or many of them, don't want the aid because it comes from kuffars (though others take it reasoning that is a form of jiyza and therefore "deserved"). Often those refusing the aid are in positions of authority, meaning those who desperately need the aid will not get it (and will likely die as a result). And even if the aid gets through, the assisted Muslims - much of the aid and aid workers are Christian-based (and even if not Christian-based many donors in the West give out of their own internal sense of Christian charity) - curse us, vowing their revenge on us.
To cite another example. Muslims are relocated in the West, for example under some elite, leftist notion that we are helping secure "democracy" for some Muslim hellhole. Upon arrival the Muslim "immigrants" are given all manner of welfare benefits. The benefitted Muslims laugh and curse at us while taking our money, corrupting our freedoms, all the time vowing to undermine our laws and way of life for the sake of allah.

Quite right. Dr. Somech is hitting the nail on the head. Any Muslim requesting (medical) aid from any infidel would be considered a Hypocrite, according to the scriptures, and therefore can be de facto considered as a traitor to Islam. That's basically the only way to understand why this woman said what she did.
All in all, that doesn't make it better in any case. On the other hand, such behavior makes it perfectly clear where Muslim priorities lie: they can have it both ways, taking advantage of infidel medical care and not being perceived by their own kind as a traitor, simultaneously.
Pretty neat way of thinking (!) Somehow, it has the stench of taqiyya all over it. Or is it just me being paranoid, smelling a rat everywhere ?

Well, if I were a insurance provider, I would raise the premium on life insurance for Dr. Somech after he saved this child.
Dr. Somech may be in the impression that the mother said those things only to save herself from her community, but anyone who knows muslims knows that she was serious.

Ali Sina is a Iranian immigrant to Canada and an ex-muslim. He is the muslim world's most hated person. Whereas Robert Spencer and JW are dedicated towards exposing political Islam, Ali's website is directed towards ordinary muslims and their personal faith in Islam and its prophet. He rips muhammad's 'prophet' mask to pieces while the muslims watch paralyzed unable to challenge him. His website is banned in most Islamic countries. He says if any muslim reads his book 'Understanding Muhammad' then s/he is guaranteed to leave Islam.
Ali also runs Faith Freedom International, the first of his websites that became popular where many authors post articles alongside Ali Sina. Many interesting videos are posted there too.
But the most 'powerful' website IMO that he started is Freedom Bulwark. It is a social networking site made for us anti-jihadists to network with each other. Many times I come across posts where commenters wish to be able to privately communicate with each other. Well Freedom Bulwark is for exactly that purpose, just like facebook. I strongly request everyone to not only register for Freedom Bulwark and take full advantage of it but also tell others about it. That way we are not dependent on whims of politically-correct facebook authorities.

Ali sina explained martyrdom as only an ex muslim can . He explains correctly that to muslims, jihad and martyrdom are the greatest goals for muslims, greater than life or a living a good life. Poverty is a badge of honor for muslims.
As can be seen in India, a poor muslim living in a hut or sidewalk will keep on having children after children. He and his children will beg if he had to survive. But he will be a good Muslim. Even if the kaffur helps him out he will not think kindly of these people or their non muslim beliefs. Just look at the gratitude of the Porkies or Egyptians, we have given them billions. They have used the money arm themselves well and to make nukes. They do not have any positive things to say about the US and it’s culture or Christians and Jews.
In India they have a saying, “One who takes a cobra as a pet, will on day get bit.” This take us back to the notion that muslim are indeed like reptiles. There isn’t a shred of humanity in them,. It’s useless to help them out in anything. The best thing to do is not give them any money, no medical help, no doctors not even a blanket, nothing. Let Allah take care of them.
My prayer is that the rescued baby grows up to know Jesus Christ as God incarnate, Messiah of Israel, Lord and Savior, to the praise of God's glorious grace (cf. Ephesians 1).

Hmmmm. It doesn't say anything about it in the article, but I'd dearly love to know whether little M. A. M's parents were first cousins...and whether *their* parents were first cousins, too, and *their* parents...
Because in the Arab Islamic world, and also in other places, such as Islamic Pakistan, first-cousin marriage is very nearly the norm rather than the exception; and it is practised in successive generations. In the UK, a disproportionate number of weird congenital abnormalities are found among the Pakistani Muslim 'community', because they practise first-cousin marriage.
Second, this business of Muslims accepting lifesaving medical care from Jews, whilst continuing to hate their guts and wish evil upon them - Brigitte Gabriel saw this herself, in a hospital in Israel, and writes about it in her book 'Because They Hate' ('they' being the Muslims).
When her mother was being treated in an Israeli hospital, by Jewish doctors and nurses, there were Muslim patients in the same hospital, and in the same ward.
Here is what Brigitte Gabriel says:
"...I recalled all the horrible things that I had heard about Jews in general and Israel in particular as i was growing up [as an Arabic-speaking Maronite Catholic Christian in Lebanon - dda]: they were greedy, brutal and treacherous; they were the cause of all misery in the world I had seen with my own eyes that nothing could be further from the truth. I was to learn this lesson many times while Mama was in the hospital.
"I also learned about hatred, intolerance and bigotry. The Muslim woman who was in the room with my mother had stayed in the hospital for about twelve days. And even after ten days, when the doctors left the room after changing her bandages and checking on her in their morning tour, she said, with an evil, hate-filled look on her face, "I hate you all, I wish you were all dead".
'And for the first time in my life I saw evil. I realized that this Muslim couldn't love the Jews even when they had saved her life. And when you are unable to be grateful to the people who saved your life, you have no soul.
'when humans become devoid of compassion, a sense of forgiveness, and open-mindedness, when they surrender their humanity to hate, they become an evil force of darkness that is irreconcilable with hope, love, and peace".

Dr Raz Somech reminds me of a beautiful prayer - written by the great medieval Jewish physician Moses ben Maimon/ Maimonides - that was shared here at jihadwatch by one of the commenters in July 2007.
The poster wrote:

I think that Dr Raz Somech is truly carrying on the tradition of Moses ben Maimon.
This is what we all in the free world expect from a so-called religion/cult. They have proven to us that they are nothing but mere barbarians, even when someone extends a helping hand. How pathetic can these low life loosers be? Sad!
