Yes, I think the notion of the 'isolated fanatic' is still a problem. We have difficulty in imagining more than the occasional madman being in the grip of such ideas, foreign to us.
Similarly with the veil, we automatically associate it with our western notions of piety, chastity, meditation and peace. We have no experience of its islamic significances, so there's another thing we don't initially know how to deal with.
And then there's the old stumbling block .... 'devout'.
We just never thought of 'devoutly murderous' did we?

But what the soft-voiced insouciance disguised was the rising fury and disgust sweeping out of the Arabian deserts and the gutters of the Arab street -- the passionate demand for a reckoning with Western cultural imperialism and financial domination.  Bin Laden became a lightning rod for pent-up Muslim hatred of the West and a repository for the implacable belief that Islam will one day rule the world.

This game is still on, as it had been on for 1400 years, and will continue to haunt all modern civilization until the curse of a 7th century Beduin's delusional megalomanic vision is finally buried into the dust of history. Muslims will continue to agitate, demand, deceive, riot, burn, rape, murder, plead, threaten, censor, loudly prayer, profusely procreate, attack and attack - all for their nefarious Jihad to instill fear into the human heart - all this to press the deleterious Sharia into our world. They hate our freedoms, don't understand them, and they want us to be dragged down to their primitive level of society where nothing is produced, nothing is trustworthy, and only the mean survive by guile and oppression. Bin Laden, like a modern day Mahdi, was all of this. Islam is a world of unadorned pure tyranny, and they hate us for being better. He is dead. Game is still on.

The anti-Western contagion has gripped the Islamic world since the year 711 when Muslim armies invaded Spain - a mere 1,300 years, and it is all down to their failure to conquer the West. Pelayo slammed on their brakes at Covadonga in 722 and Martel pushed them into reverse after Tours in 732, whilst in Central Europe they were stopped at Vienna - twice in 1529 and 1683, then pushed into reverse at Budapest in 1686 and Zenta in 1697. And that isn't forgetting being stopped to the south on Malta in 1565. Muslims haven't forgiven the West for keeping them out because these primitive barbarians believe the whole world should be Muslim and they hate anyone who stands up to them, hence their sheer hatred of the Israelis who stopped them in 1967 and again in 1973. And it is time Westerners realised that and stopped falling for the whining self-pity spouted out by wicked and mendacious Muslims and their terrorist organizations, after being given a good kicking as the consequence of their aggression.
