Why Sunday? Why not Friday? How Islamophobic!
“I’ve grown concerned about the demonization of Muslims. I want Montclair to develop an understanding of the religion,” said the Reverend Andrew Butler.
Here we go again. Do the Qur'an readings below constitute demonization of Christianity? Would the Reverend Andrew Butler care to explain why not? Will Montclair's new understanding of Islam include explanations of these Qur'an verses?
Christians have forgotten part of the divine revelations they received: "From those, too, who call themselves Christians, We did take a covenant, but they forgot a good part of the message that was sent them: so we estranged them, with enmity and hatred between the one and the other, to the day of judgment. And soon will Allah show them what it is they have done." -- Qur'an 5:14
Jesus is not the Son of God: "O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not "Three" - Cease! (it is) better for you! - Allah is only One Allah. Far is it removed from His Transcendent Majesty that He should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender." -- Qur'an 4:171
"It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is." -- Qur'an 19:35
Those who believe that Jesus is God's Son are accursed: "The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth! " -- Qur'an 9:30
Jesus was not crucified: "And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah's messenger - they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain." -- Qur'an 4:157
And when will the mosque in Montclair feature Bible readings?
"Interfaith Service at St. John’s Parish in Montclair," by Megan Schaefer for Baristanet, May 19:
This Sunday morning, May 22, at 10 a.m., the sounds of the adhan — the Muslim call to prayer — will ring out in St. John’s Episcopal Church Montclair. While there’s no minaret at the church, the words of “Allahu akbar,” (God is greater) will none-the-less invite both Christians and Muslims to worship side by side.
Which god is greater? Than which other god? These tools don't even know that the Islamic prayers that they will be hearing are direct repudiations of Christianity.
During the interfaith service, verses from the Holy Qur’an will complement readings from the Holy Bible, including during Communion, embracing the traditions of both religions.Reverend Andrew Butler, Rector of St. John’s parish since September 1, 2010, decided to have this service in order to demonstrate that both Islam and Christianity stem from Abrahamic roots, as well as to dispell negative stereotypes about the Muslim faith.
“I’ve grown concerned about the demonization of Muslims. I want Montclair to develop an understanding of the religion.” Reverend Butler stated.
In addition to Butler, speakers will include Anisa Mehdi, a scholar and journalist who will describe what it means to be a Muslim in America and Abdul-Alim Mubarak-Rowe, an assistant Imam at Masjid Waarith ud Deen in Irvington, a media consultant to the American Muslim Alliance and a journalist.
The Reverend went on to say, “We are trying to find ways to blend our community through religion. It’s hard, but we can accomplish it through this organic event and working together through outreach and other ministries of compassion."...
Don't do it...

They should be ashamed. Even the Quran recognizes the sanctity of Jesus and the sinfulness of Muhammad.

'Reverend Andrew Butler,....... decided to have this service in order to demonstrate that both Islam and Christianity stem from Abrahamic roots,....'
Except that Mohammed founded his violent heresy 1,500 years after Abraham died. Kinda far away from the roots!
I live very near to Montclaire. most of the people around that area ar politicaally correct liberals who are in cloud nine. they will get together read the Koran and the bible find a few similitariets and then eveything is happily ever after until they get blown up and even after that they find a way to sanitize Islam.
Trees and fruit.
Christ warned of false teachers who would attempt to preach in His name. Here they are.
Could it have something to do with the Episcopal Church? When I first saw this story I remembered another loony Episcopal priest, Steve Lawler, who did away with Christianity but "took up" Islam for Lent. Yes, you read that correctly.

verses from the Holy Qur’an will complement readings from the Holy Bible, including during Communion,
I am at a loss for words. Of all the sacraments of Christianity, communion is the most Holy, and entirely unique to Christianity and something not shared with any other faith.
In light of the fact that Muslims don't even believe that Jesus died on the cross, a total rejection of everything communion stands for, I can't imagine what is going through this pastors head.
Perhaps he doesn't realize that God still gets angry, especially when the Church is lead to prostitute itself with other religions.
I wouldn't want to be in his shoes when it comes to accounting for this whoring of his spirit, and the members of his congregation.
Humm, guess I had a few words after all.
If only the Captain of the Starship Enterprise had been as forward thinking; he could have healed relations with the Borg and ushered in a new and wonderful era of peace and harmony!
I am so tired of this "Abrahamic faith" nonsense with regard to Islam. Islam is only an "Abrahamic faith" on the say-so of it's wildly deluded founder, and the sooner fools like Andrew Butler realise this, the better.
These episcopals know even less about the koran than they do the bible.
The bible warns of the coming scourge of the islamic anti-christs. Apparently the episcopals have ignored this part of the bible because it does not fit into their political correctness and "can't we all get along" religiosity.
Question: Can't we all get along?
Answer: Not with islam. They are sworn to murder the christians and jews and all the rest of us. And they are.
“I’ve grown concerned about the demonization of Muslims. I want Montclair to develop an understanding of the religion,” said the Reverend Andrew Butler.
Well good. If it's a real understanding you impart, Rev. Andy, and not just another interfaith dialog circle jerk, then we'll have 37,000 more anti-Dhimmis in the fold.
And you're a cheap publicity whore, Rev. Andy. Shame on you, trollop.
Might I be the one who picks which verses are read?
I agree 100 percent with Lorgan above. Not only is the thought of an interfaith 'Communion' along side of Muslims utterly blasphemous to the highest degree but I am without words at thought of what such a satanic charade might even look like. Foolish, foolish people: may god save that 'Christian' congregation from their dangerous p.c. ignorance.
Wow - it's as if America has already gave up and recognized it's time to become good Dhimmis.
Oh, it could never happen in America. Y'all have guns.
This guys are crazy..
Hadith Bukhari
Volume 3, Book 43, Number 656:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you as a just ruler, he will break the Cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizya tax.
http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement/resources/texts/muslim/hadith/bukhari/043.sbt.html#003.043.656
What does this saying mean? The cross is a symbol of Christianity. Breaking the cross means abolishing Christianity. According to Islamic law, the poll tax, or jizya, buys protection of the lives and property of Christians (and Jews). Abolishing this tax will mean that jihad will be restarted against Christians and no more protection shall be afforded to those who do not submit to Islam.
The Egyptian jurist Ahmad ibn Naqib stated in his compendium of Shariah, “The Reliance of the Traveller,” that the toleration of Christians living under Islamic law only applies “before the final descent of Jesus. … After his final coming, nothing but Islam will be accepted from them, for taking the poll tax is only effective until Jesus’ descent … for he will rule by the law of Muhammad … as a follower of our Prophet” (translation by Nuh Ha Mim Keller, pages 603-4).
OT: Today is the second annual "Everybody Draw Muhammed Day". The Facebook page is still up, I'm going to be posting my contribution later today. I hope other JW readers will, as well.
This is still an important idea.

No wonder the Episcopalian churches are losing members in droves.
Hi Gravenimage... I don't have a FB account (is one necessary for the EDMD?), but here is what I've drawn for the occasion, which Baron Bodissey at Gates of Vienna was kind enough to post on his blog.
“I’ve grown concerned about the demonization of Muslims. I want Montclair to develop an understanding of the religion,” said the Reverend Andrew Butler.
...................................
And what does Reverend Butler understand about Islam? Less than nothing, it would seem.
More idiocy:
This Sunday morning, May 22, at 10 a.m., the sounds of the adhan — the Muslim call to prayer — will ring out in St. John’s Episcopal Church Montclair.
...................................
Doesn't this officially make St. John’s Episcopal Church *a mosque*? If things get much worse here, Muslims are apt to remember that fact, and come and claim it from the clueless Episcopalians one of these days.
Yet more idiocy:
While there’s no minaret at the church, the words of “Allahu akbar,” (God is greater) will none-the-less invite both Christians and Muslims to worship side by side.
...................................
Don't these hopeful morons realize how bellicose "Allahu Akbar" is? Of course not—I've just answered my own question...
Yet more:
In addition to Butler, speakers will include Anisa Mehdi, a scholar and journalist who will describe what it means to be a Muslim in America and Abdul-Alim Mubarak-Rowe, an assistant Imam at Masjid Waarith ud Deen in Irvington, a media consultant to the American Muslim Alliance and a journalist.
...................................
Here's the meretricious Anisa Mehdi, telling us 'terrorism has nothing to do with Islam™'.
So—what is terrorism all about? Why, "social justice", of course:
"What people are angry about is what human beings have been angry about forever. Political inequity, economic inequity, dictators who are keeping all the money for the upper classes and leaving their nations impoverished. The aggression of a more-powerful nation upon a less-powerful nation."
In other words, it's all *legitimate grievance*. The US and the West have brought Jihad terror on themselves. Oh, and remember the evil ol' Crusades. Oh, and the pedophilia scandal in the Catholic Church. Really, those 3000 deaths don't look so bad now, do they? sarc/off
Here's the most insane passage in this interview:
EXPLOREFAITH: You have a documentary in the works about some Christian monks who lived in peaceful co-existence with Muslims in Algeria. Ultimately these monks died violent deaths, but they lived in harmony with their neighbors there for a while. What is it about that story that you want people to come away with?
ANISA MEHDI: There are three things I’d like people to take from this story. One is just that it’s a very interesting narrative. It’s a good story. But more important is the ease with which Muslims and Christians - in this story at least - can get along and flourish together.
...................................
For anyone not familiar with this story, a group of French monks in the mid-1990s were doing charity work in Algeria. When things got violent there, they decided to stay because the Muslims in the village there would have no medical care if they left.
Seven of the monks were kidnapped and murdered by Jihadists.
For Medhi to cite this as a case of Muslims and Christians "flourishing together" could not be more insane—instead, it was the familiar story of Christians selflessly aiding Muslims and being brutally murdered for their pains.
http://www.explorefaith.org/mehdi/islam.html
"The Reverend went on to say, 'We are trying to find ways to blend our community through religion. It’s hard, but we can accomplish it through this organic event and working together through outreach and other ministries of compassion'."...
That's a nice way of saying that he has completely lost his ability to discern between good and evil ...
Yes, the Episcopalians have lost their way, and this has been happening for years now; and they are one of the apostate churches that the Apostle Paul warned us about, as they refuse the affirmation of Jesus Christ as the "only name by which any person may be saved."
Read about it here: http://www.virtueonline.org/portal/modules/news/article.php?storyid=4311
Of course, their refusal to state that Jesus Christ is the only way goes against what Jesus said:
"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." -- John 14:6
If you are a member of an Episcopal church - then run, don't walk - to the nearest church that DOES proclaim Jesus Christ as the only way and stat. And this move to read the evil qur'an in your church should serve as another major red flag that it's time to get out of there. No church should give the musings of an evil criminal like muhammad a voice. This goes beyond the pale.
The Episcopagans are at it again. I can't say I'm surprised. I agree with the posts that identify Anglicanism for what it is - a shadow of its former self. Then again, a shadow of a shadow is mere darkness to begin with.
can these foolish so called Christians ask why the Copts in Egypt are being tortured and killed and their churchs burnt down? what a bunch of tools..
Does any one know who his Bishop is? and their contact information?
that would be helpful.

Excellent illustration, Proud Kafir! Grim, hilarious, and very much to the point.
I posted a comment (it is under my Yahoo! account, so the username is "Jane").
Yes, you do need a Facebook account to post—but it is free, and you don't have to set up a Facebook page, or anything. So far, there are a few queries, but no actual postings for "Everybody Draw Muhammed Day". I'm glad to see Gates of Vienna commemorating the day. I wonder if I could post my work there, too?
Thanks, I'm glad you've liked it. As for sending GoV your work, I think the Baron and Dymphna would be happy to have more contributions.
By the way, though I still haven't got a Facebook account, my drawing made its way to their EDMD page via Sheikyermami and Gates of Vienna. I'd like to thank them for that too.
Let's not forget, the first step in defeating an enemy is to first understand it and know what it is that you are up aginst. (i.e. Cancer can not be cured unless it is studied.)
Let's hope that this is what the good reverend has in mind. And pray he is not a "miss-understander" of Chistians.
The good Father is turning his church into a mosque...His regular congregation should stay home in protest...
Allah Akbar may mean Allah is great or greatest to Mahoundianst, but it also means death and destruction...Just what they need in a Christian Church...
From the article...
"outreach and other ministries of compassion."...
I am so sick of that damned word, "outreach".
It could easily become a misnomer for "submission" and "dhimmitude".
Oh just realized I hadn't contributed to the draw mohammed page yet, and now I find out my cellphone is so old, it won't even install its software on my computer to connect and send photos from the phone to my computer. Bummer. And I also can't seem to manage to email it to my email address. Oh well..
This is a very ill conceived action on the part of Episcopalian Reverend Andrew Butler. I hope parishioners take things into their own hands and prevent this from happening.
Then find a new preacher.
Sorry to hear such news from the town of my birth, Miriam.
At this stage in my life, I wouldn't touch the American Episcopalian Church with an eleven-foot pole. At this point, their smells and bells lead to seven Hells.
"We [Muslims] smile in the face of some people although our hearts curse them."
The Qur'an says Muslims must not be friends with non-Muslims, except as a pretense to guard against the unbelievers
For example, Qur'an 3:28
Here's what Ibn Kathir, probably the Muslim world's most respected Quran expositor of all time, has to say about the Qur'an's teachings on friendship with non-Muslims:
"We smile in the face of some people although our hearts curse them." A deception "allowed until the Day of Resurrection." Thus you have a mainstream pious Islamic idea of "friendship" with non-believers.I live a few miles from this church. I'm not Episicopalian and I'm tempted to attend this service but I'm afraid I'm going to be sick to my stomach.
Muhammad was an extremely delusional, perverted and evil man. And this is why the religion he founded, Islam, has many evil and demonic elements - such as the sanctioning of violence and murder, rape, oppression of women, deception, etc., all blasphemously in God's name.
Many Muslims are brainwashed victims of Islam. It will take the miracle of God's grace for these brainwashed and irrational Muslims to recognize the many evil elements contained in Islam and be converted from such fanatical lies.
Muhammad was not the messenger of God/Allah. He was the messenger of the Devil whom he mistook to be God/Allah.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allah
Ishmael was the son of Hagar, who was not the wife of Abraham. Ishmael was conceived in adultery between Abraham and Hagar. Ishmael was the result of Abraham's doubt, not of Abraham's faith.
So-called Muslim scholars and clerics keep reciting that the Jewish and Christian Scriptures have been corrupted by the Jews and Christians. But these so-called Muslim scholars cannot produce any credible evidence to prove that. They irrationally believe without question everything contained in the unholy Quran. And they spread this fraudulent, irrational and evil religion of Islam through violence, intimidation, abduction, and deception.
The only valid elements of the Islamic conception of God/Allah is that God/Allah is One and He is the Creator of the universe and that He is merciful and just. These are the only redeeming elements of Islam. These are the only elements of the Islamic conception of God/Allah that makes it Abrahamic.
Unfortunately, the delusional, perverted, and evil Muhammad subsequently demonized God/Allah by attributing to God/Allah attributes that belong to the Devil - such as the command to murder, rape, intimidate, subjugate, deceive, etc.... These demonic concepts attributed to God/Allah are in direct contradiction to the concept of God/Allah being merciful and just. Sadly, many Muslims cannot see this obvious contradiction, inconsistency and irrationality.
Reason is not sufficient to overcome the brainwashing of Muslims. They are too deeply brainwashed to recognize or appreciate reason and rationality. And they are too intimidated by the prospect of the irrational, evil and demonic death penalty should they leave Islam. Only God's grace and the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ can overcome that.
I think that going along would be an excellent idea. Make copies of, and then print out on multiple leaflets, the anti-Christian Quranic verses and Hadiths that Mr Spencer posted in his commentary to the article, and then print off the Hadiths that Observer and Traeh posted above: and stuff them into your handbag, or into your back pocket. For that matter, if you've got the N Dawood Koran translation, or the Yusuf Ali translation, and/ or Mr Spencer's Complete Infidel's Guide to the Koran, tuck those into your bag or jacket pocket, bookmarked for easy reference (e.g. to Surah 48: 29, about Muslims being ruthless toward the unbelievers, and to Surah 9:29).
Grit your teeth and breathe deeply during the service (and if you're a praying person, pray).
I suggest taking a notebook and taking notes when the Muslim taqiyya artists are doing their stuff.
Then, after the service, when everyone's having refreshments (I'd be *very* surprised if there were not tea and coffee and biscuits, at least, provided), do a little quiet conversation-starting. See if you can identify any congregation members who are just a tad uneasy...and slip them the Quran verses dissing Christianity and Christians, that will most assuredly not have been read. Try to gently pique their curiosity. And you might try mentioning what Muslims have been doing to Christians in Egypt, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iraq and Indonesia of late, just for starters.
You could, of course, if you feel sufficiently prepared, tackle the Muslim guests, Ms Mehdi and Mr Mubarak-Rowe - Mr Fitzgerald always used to say that bringing up the topic of little Aisha was a good one for provoking a meltdown of the taqiyya mask.
I like the idea of handing out some paperwork (something to take home and read).
May I suggest you include a couple of web resources like JW and Answering Islam. You want them to be able to research in the sites where they can get answers to their questions.
I hope you go.

Hmm. Episcopal? Already apostate. New Jersey? Not a bastion of Biblical underpinnings. Surprised? No.
Hmm. Episcopal? Already apostate. New Jersey? Not exactly a bastion of Biblical underpinnings. Surprised? No.
Might I suggest a special "Amen Chorus"?
If my mouth was in attendance it would be impossible to stop it from shouting
"allah akbar - kill the Jews"
I love interfaith dialogue. Can't I be honest?
BTW: What is the Episcopal penalty for blasphemy and desecration of a Church?
The Reverend Butler would undoubtedly be surprised to learn that the Muhammad believed Jesus was born under a Palm tree
and could speak intelligently the moment he was born. Quran 19:22-34. The Quran also assert Jesus was not killed by his crucifixion....'they only thought they killed him'.
Next Christmas The Rev Butler's nativity scene should show Mary alone with her infant sun under a palm tree. No stable, manger, sheep, lambs, cows, Joseph or wise men etc.And if jesus did not die on the cross.....remove the crucifix from your church Mr Butler..... why not replace it with a black meteorite.
"Islam is only an "Abrahamic faith" on the say-so of it's wildly deluded founder"
That notion is a 20th century invention of Islamic propagandists, not Muhammad.
I'm in Australia, so attending this particular abject display of dhimmitude in New Jersey was not feasible.
But I hope someone went.
I will pray for the good Lord to have mercy and to remove the comforting pink cloud of delusion with which Rev Butler and his congregation are blinding themselves.
"While there’s no minaret at the church, the words of “Allahu akbar,” (God is greater) will none-the-less invite both Christians and Muslims to worship side by side."
I would bet heavily that the number of Muslims that will show up to sit next to infidels and watch Communion will be exactly ZERO. What fools these Episcopalians be.
Mohamad was nothing but a lying, thieving thug, as well as a phedophile! Geeze, people need to educate themselves. This man was an EVIL, false prophet and our so called politically correct "Christian" ministers and priests are selling their congregations down the river! People need to be running out of these churchs and never look back. Find a true Christian church that bases its teachings on the Bible. The Muslims want nothing more than to kill Jews and Christians. The time is coming when Christians will have to make a choice and your life will literally depend on your decision! This religion of PEACE is anything but that. We are expected to respect and be tollerant of the Muslim religion but how do they treat Christians? They kill and destroy the Christian churches. Does that sound like a religion of PEACE to you? These people are dirty, disgusting pieces of garbage and being brain washed to think that they are superior and supposed to take over the world and rule over all people everwhere! I hope I dont live to see that day. I pitty my kids and grandchildren . . . God help them . . Maybe the Lord will see fit to make his return befor this happens. Hope so. I work for a law enforcement agency and I have seen how eroghant the muslim people are. The take advantage of our legal system and turn it around to slap us in the face. Something needs to be done to stop this incidious take over of our country. It is very suttle now but it wont be long and we will be in the same boat as Europe. Just by shear numbers they will be able to rule in England, France, Germany, and Denmark. They are slowly changing the country's laws to conform to their Koran and Sharia law. The Muslim religion is like a cancer and if we dont find the correct formula for the chemo, we will be destroyed! That is a fact!
