Pakistani jihad group has sleeper cells in U.S.

Are U.S. government and law enforcement authorities sleeping as well? More on this story. "COMMENTARY-Lashkar-e-Toiba: Global Outreach," by Shrideep Biswas for South Asia Intelligence Review/India Blooms News Service, May 30:

Lashkar-e-Toiba ranks right up there in the al-Qaida and related groups as terrorist organizations...(Janet Napolitano, US Secretary of Homeland Security, May 27, 2011)

The statement of the US Secretary of Homeland Security, acknowledging the scale of the threat from Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), comes in the wake of cumulative and overwhelming evidence that this terrorist formation has long outgrown its initial focus on Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) to emerge as a global terrorist threat, matching al Qaida in aspiration, resources and reach.

Napolitano’s comment was, however, far from the first acknowledgement of the LeT threat by the United States (US). Recently, on April 13, 2011, Admiral Robert Willard, Chief of the US military's Pacific Command Forces, told the Senate Armed Services Committee: “Unquestionably they [LeT] have spread their influence internationally and are no longer solely focused in South Asia and on India.” He added, further, that the US had evidence of LeT’s presence in Europe and the broader Asia-Pacific region. Willard’s words were almost echoed by former British foreign secretary David Miliband on April 29, 2011, when he cautioned, “If it's true that the LeT is developing global ambitions for its terrorism and its own capacity to do so, as well as regional ones (sic), we have to be even more insistent on the need to roll up that infrastructure.”

On March 12, 2010, US lawmakers had urged President Barack Obama to push Pakistan to crack down harder on the LeT. The House of Representatives Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia held a hearing to discuss LeT terrorism, during which Chairman Gary Ackerman accused the Pakistani military of supporting the banned outfit. [...]

Indian authorities have long warned the world of the augmenting international threat of state-backed terrorist formations in Pakistan, prominently including the LeT. India’s then National Security Adviser M. K. Narayanan, for instance, warned, on August 11, 2006, “The Lashkar (LeT) today has emerged as a very major force. It has connectivity with west Asia, Europe... Actually there was a LeT module broken (sic) in Virginia and some people were picked up. It is as big as and omnipotent as al Qaeda in every sense of the term.” Again, on April 21, 2010, he reiterated, “The LeT has networks in 21 countries, including Australia, North America, Europe and Asia."

The South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) database has long documented LeT’s global footprint to note:

LeT has an extensive network that run across Pakistan and India with established branches in Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, Bangladesh and South East Asia.

LeT has a network of sleeper cells in the US and Australia, has trained terrorists from other countries, and has entered new theatres of 'jihad', such as Iraq.

LeT maintains ties with various religious/military groups around the world, ranging from the Philippines to the Middle East and Chechnya, primarily through the al Qaeda fraternal network.

LeT is part of the 'al Qaeda compact' and is a member of the "International Islamic Front for the struggle against the Jews and the Crusaders" established by Osama bin Laden on February 23, 1998.

LeT was part of the Bosnian campaign against the Serbs.

LeT has links with several international Islamist terrorist groups, including the Ikhwan-ul-Musalmeen [Muslim Brotherhood] of Egypt and other Arab groups....

Jihad is jihad, is jihad in Allah's cause(s)...The common denominator is Allah...Allah calls for jihad numerous times in the Quran and Mahound hardly ever stopped talking about it...Allah is serious about this, saying that even though you don't like it, Allah knows best, warfare has been ordained for you, 2:216 and if you still don't want to participate, Allah will remove you and put someone else in your place 9:38/39...
Jihad is an 'obligation and duty' to Allah...That's what it is no matter what other name it is given...And what is being jihaded against? Dar-al-harb and all it's kufr residents...Allah wills it, and submitters comply...That's fine if you are a Mahoundian, but it does not work out too well for Kufr or dal al harb...Eventually kufr will have to overwhelm Allah and put him/it out of the 'willing' business...

The biggest threat to national security in the UK are the Pakistani immigrants, and second and third generation UK born Pakistanis.

Having imported Salafism from Egypt and Saudi Arabia during the Afghan war (hardcore Arab mujahideen, such as Ayman al Zawahari, a student of Syed Qutb), Pakistan then exported it via immigration, big-time, to the UK, and it continues to do so.

To the extent that the Pakistani capital in the UK, Bradford, now has many flights a week between it and Pakistani cities. For our American readers, that's like flights from Islamabad regularly arriving in Sh*thole, Arkansas. I can't imagine there are any flights from Pakistan landing in tenth-tier American cities.

Dangerous, dangerous people.

So they're "omnipotent", eh?

Looking forward to putting that to the test.

For undaunted,

Just for the record, your description of the Jacksonville carjacking had several glaring errors. I tried to point them out in a comment, but your blog wouldn't accept the comments.

I used the information available to me at the time. If you have more information, I'd be glad to consider and rewrite as appropriate.

As for comments, they work for everyone else... if you need to say something, my email is clearly posted at my site.

Thanks.

Yep, looks like you're right. I missed the detailed time-line at the bottom of the article.

Will edit accordingly. Thanks again.

Fixed. Appreciate your catching my error and bringing it to my attention.

However, my commentary viz the cop brass in the story will remain as initially written.

Cheers.

I think they might be found at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

"Eventually kufr will have to overwhelm Allah and put him/it out of the 'willing' business..."
Sounds like a good idea to me!

From the article:" LeT has a network of sleeper cells in the US and Australia".

**Australia**, eh?

Pursuant to my previous posting.

Memo to the Australian Government.

If we had not permitted Pakistani Muslims - and many other varieties of Muslims - to come and establish colonies in Australia, we would not *have* Lashkar-e-Toiba 'sleeper cells' in Australia right now.

I can assure you, in addition, that we have Hezbollah operatives in Australia, and people funnelling money (whether obtained by legal or illegal means) to Hezbollah. Why? - because we have a large number of Lebanese Muslims in Australia. And since we have Somali Muslims in Australia, I guarantee we will have *somebody* involved with Al-Shabaab, the jihad outfit in Somalia, and people who are communicating with the Somali Muslims who are doing all that pirating in the Indian Ocean.

If we *stop* importing Muslims into Australia, then at least we can be sure we are not letting in any more folks who may be members of 'sleeper cells' - whether organised by LeT or any other group - or may become Islamically fervent and form or join such cells in future.

The Mohammedan Ummah is the sea in which the jihadists swim and from which, perpetually, they emerge.

The *only* way to be sure that there are no Muslim jihadist 'sleeper cells' (whether organised by LeT or by Al Qaeda or by any of the other myriad plotters and planners) within the gates, is to have *no* Mohammedans within the gates to start with.
