Who sheltered bin Laden? Suspicion falls on Pakistan army chief

Undoubtedly bin Laden had friends at high levels in Pakistan. “Who sheltered Osama bin Laden? Kayani among suspects,” by Sachin Parashar for TNN, May 9 (thanks to Mehreen):

NEW DELHI: The US is turning the heat on Pakistan’s ISI as it tries to establish the identity of those who sheltered Osama bin Laden in the garrison town of Abbottabad. And, going by reports in the US media and assessments made by Indian experts, the needle of suspicion is pointing at not just ISI boss Shuja Pasha but also two of his predecessors, one of whom is none other than Pakistan army chief Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani.

Kayani was the ISI chief when Osama is said to have shifted to the Abbottabad mansion in 2005. Pasha is now said to be under pressure to quit as the ISI failed to detect Osama’s presence for almost three years under him. Kayani’s successor in the ISI, Nadeem Taj who took over in October 2007, is the third and an equally strong suspect. Known as the most rabid anti-US and anti-India boss the agency has had in the recent past, Taj was eased out of ISI after a 10-month tenure in 2008 allegedly under pressure from the US.

“In any enquiry regarding collusion between the ISI and Osama bin Laden since 2005, which enabled OBL to live in Abbottabad, the main suspicion has to be on Nadeem Taj followed by Pasha and Kayani,” security expert B Raman said. It was during Taj’s tenure as ISI chief that the agency used David Coleman Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana for reconnaissance missions in India and during which the July 2008 bombing of the Indian embassy in Kabul took place. It is significant that Taj was heading the Pakistan Military Academy in Abbottabad before taking over as ISI chief.

The US has sought information about those senior officials who worked closely with militants in the past and Taj’s name is likely to figure right at the top. As former foreign secretary Kanwal Sibal put it, though, it is inconceivable that Osama continued to live right under the nose of the military establishment without the knowledge of Kayani who headed ISI in 2005.

“Kayani would have known and so would have Pasha. One can’t dispense with reason and logic simply because there is no documentary evidence to prove it,” Sibal told TOI. He added that he did not see anything relevant coming out of the US exercise to identify those who helped Osama hide in Abbottabad because the Pakistanis were not going to give any “self-incriminating” information to the US….

I’m wondering if any of the gentlemen under suspicion might not be even better intelligence assets than a living Osama bin Laden…

I don’t think that the rabbit can be put back in the hat. Pakistan should lose it’s jizya due to it’s knowingly hiding Osama bin Killed in plain site.

And then that suspected Islamic Trojan horse and Muslim Brotherhood agent, Caliph Hussein Obama keep wanting to aid this vile nuclear-possessing Pakistan Muslim nation with billions of weapons?! Experts think Pakistan could have 110 nuclear weapons
Pakistan is on the verge of overtaking Britain as the world’s fifth largest nuclear power at a time when the country faces an unprecedented threat from extremists.
American intelligence agencies believe that Pakistan now has more than 100 deployed nuclear weapons, an increase of nearly 40 per cent in two years……

I wonder how many have been sold or otherwise put into the hands of those with less that stable mental capacities..

Yet. Not everything found has been translated yet.

And, even when translated, things in code may take a while to have their dots connected.

How about a “No more jizya for Pakistan” demo in the streets of Western cities. Let the world see how angry we are at our taxes financing the nuclear programme and hate-filled madrassas of that scrounging wasteland.

The hard drives and other info taken from OBL’s Pakistan safe-house will answer more questions than the Pakistani govt. is prepared to answer.
Their answers will simply confirm whether they are lying or telling the truth when what they say is compared to the info on the hard drives.

it is time to sever the purse strings to Pakistan..Pakistan has proven itself to be unworthy of the Infidel attempts to help it move into the 21st century…and what will be the reaction in the world when Pakistan attacks India…it’s coming…

  11. says

“…the Pakistanis were not going to give any “self-incriminating” information to the US….”

Of course they won’t, and it is not to be expected that they will. This is no different from Pakistani unwillingness to cooperate with India in tracking down the ISI connections behind the Mumbai attack.

It’s time for the U.S. to end its aid to Pakistan, and instead form a strong strategic relationship with India.

My sister was in Pakistan (Peshawar) in 2005, as a nurse. She was asked to donate a dialysis machine for Abbottabad, which needed one. “What, for Osama bin Laden?” she asked, and the men who asked “looked uncomfortable”, she said.
How many Pakistanis knew bin Laden was in Abbottabad? Quite a few, I would say.
    Stop the jizya, indeed.

Isn’t it obvious what’s going on? The American dhimmis are giving the Pakistani government an opportunity to sacrifice a renegade scapegoat or two in return for forgiveness, and business as usual with channels reopened for more billions of US taxpayer money going to corrupt Paki officials and their pet terror outfits.

    You couldn’t make this up!

Oops, we did it again!Pakistan betrays the US and reveals the name of the CIA station chief in Islamabad again, second time in six months. This forces the CIA to replace the man and significantly disrupts the intelligence gathering operations. Another serious attempt at showing the White House where Pakistan’s sympathies really, truly, desperately lie-

How come no one is mentioning General Pervez Musharraf, the man in absolute charge of Pakistan for most of the period in question. The canny General must be feeling so left out and downing a few extra scotches these days in sorrow and disbelief that the most obvious has not occurred to anyone.

Opposition opportunist and islamist ex cricketer, Imran Khan was on TV last night bewailing the humiliation this has brought to Pakistani pride.

So far so predictable amongst an honour based creed which regards any infidel defence as an attack on Islam and the original muslim provocation is always and without fail, neatly airbrushed from the script.

It also follows the supremacist pattern that as Islam is the global default it is therefore guilt free. This convolution enables them to paint an Orwellian picture which reverses real truth to be substituted by the fantasy of the islamic version.

He also, tellingly wailed that who will believe us anymore, that Pakistani credibility was now in tatters, not just in the US but right across the world.

That little inkling and insight which amounts to a huge moment of truth overlooked one thing, no one really believed them anyway. That this action only cemented a world view obviously eludes him as it will most muslims.

They are living in a bubble, promoted by hate spewing imams and nicely aided and abetted by the fellow enablers of the politically correct stripe. I include Obama and most western politicians in that roster.

This circularity of suppression virtually guarantees that good honest sunlight will never enter their stygian gloom of deception which also includes the self variety.

It is this which brought about the demise and decline following their removal from Spain and were it not for globalisation, that’s how they’d have stayed.

This is our most powerful weapon, that of isolation. Deny immigration rights. Deport known illegals. Deport the criminals and rabble rousers. Act in international concert over Saudi oil price fixing. Never intervene in their internecine and internal rioting or wars (it never works long term anyway). Stop all aid.

And above all regain a bit of pride for ourselves. We didn’t start this but our immense arsenal of resources has the power to end it.

My belief is that all of this, at some point will come to pass. Europe has awoken to the threat, and as Islam reveals its ugly head via the likes of CAIR and ISNA so is the US.

Killing Bin Laden is as good a starting point as it gets. Mr Invincible is no more. And the great part, it wasn’t that mythic and maligned, US ‘brute force’ which brought this about, just patient intelligence work and six highly skilled operatives.

You can bet that this has seriously rattled those plotters who thought that they were safe and sound in their islamist bolt holes. Keep it up and whilst at it try a modified version domestically too.

Eventually even these indoctrinated boneheads will get the message. Our patience is long but eventually it will snap and when it does the gloves are off.

That bullet in Bin Ladens eye is the ultimate warning of the far reaching power of Uncle Sam. At last we got something right!

I seem to remember reading that the Saudis had purchased a number of them for a counter-threat against Iran’s forthcoming nukes.

“Pakistan should lose it’s jizya ….”

Exactly! With OBL taken care of, the U.S. should declare “mission accomplished”, and pull all of its forces out of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, and all other Moslem countries, and cease all further aid, of whatever kind, to Islamic countries.

What an amazing”and very disturbing’story, PJG. Your sister sounds pretty sharp. Was that dialysis machine ever donated?

Also”a minor point in the whole scheme of things, but still”Abbattabad is a very affluent city, and should have been able to pay for their own damn dialysis machine.

Still, if you can get the foolish Kaffirs to pay for it, why not?

I have a theory that the Bush administration knew all along that he was being sheltered in Pakistan, but was too happy to buy the bridges the Pakis kept selling them.

The next time Dems hit the GOP w/ the ‘We got Osama, you didn’t’, I can’t say that I’d consider that as below the belt.

She certainly didn’t see about donating any machine for dialysis. She came home with so many stories, and this was one of them.
It was after the earthquakes, and there was a huge sign in one town saying that they would rather die than accept any aid from Israel.
People here took little notice of what she said, which is why she didn’t tell the authorities of her suspicions. After all, who was she? No-one really.
When she came back, we got on so much better than ever before, because she had woken up to Islam and didn’t think I was paranoid any more!
