All it takes is a rumor to spark a rampage against non-Muslims. The police, for their part, got around to responding three hours after the burning and looting ended. (AINA) -- A mob of nearly 200 Muslims torched eight Christian homes on Saturday morning in the Upper Egyptian village of Awlad Khalaf. The attack was initiated by a rumor that a house which is being built by Wahib Halim Attia will be turned into a church. Two Christians and one Muslim were injured, no fatalities were reported.
Wahib Halim Attia obtained a license to build a house in the village on a 95 square meter plot. The house grew to an area of 350 square meters but was still on agricultural land that he owns. This gave rise to the rumor that he intended to build a church instead.
Father Weesa Azmy, the priest at St. George Church in the neighboring village of Negou Madam East, said that someone went to the City Council in Dar es Salam and told them about the irregularities in the house construction, and Wahib was ordered to remove the excess by June 24. "Instead Wahib carried on with the construction, which angered the Muslims, who decided to play God and take the law into their own hands; they attacked the construction site and other Christian homes."
According to Father Weesa, Muslims broke into the home of Ihab Tamer, who defended himself with a rifle. A Muslim who was there to help Ihab was injured by a bullet in his leg from Tamer's rifle. The matter was explained and resolved with the family of that Muslim.
According to eyewitnesses the Muslims, mostly Salafists and some youngsters, looted and torched eight homes belonging to Wahib Halim Attia and his two brothers, his three cousins and two other Copts, including Ihab Tamer.
The police arrived three hours after the looting and torching had ended.
Father Weesa said Ihab Tamer, who was in hiding after the shooting incident, contacted him and he advised him to give himself up to the police as he was acting in self-defense. "If someone sees people breaking into his home, surely he has to defend his family and himself."
The police told father Weesa, who did not witness the incident himself, that most of the attackers were teenagers between the ages of 10 and 14 years old. This was refuted by eyewitnesses. However, he said "if it is true that there were children and teens, then definitely someone else has sent them." He added he will not attend any reconciliation meetings and the rule of law must be upheld, on the Copt if found guilty and the attackers. Most of the teens and children were arrested by the police but no adults were arrested.
Police and security are now present in Awlad Khalaf village and the 30 Christian homes are being guarded, the Security Chief said tonight on the Egyptian State TV.
It doesn't take much to get muslim savages into the groove to do what they do best, kill and destroy. Moooohammad would be proud.
I fear Egypt will go through a very bloody period in the next few months. Copts might make up as much as 20% of the Egyptian population, but that's very small for effective self-defense. If the Muslim Brotherhood comes to power, maybe the Copts can buy some time by paying jizya. God help them.

I'm not sure what the Christians forgot, but whatever it was, it made Allah furious, and he still is...Mahoundians who attack Christians are just following Allah's lead...It's all 'holy' work...
So, Christians build a Church. Christians regularly meet in their Church and peacefully praise God. Christians(possibly) baptize their children in their Church. The Church becomes the focus of their spiritual life.

4) The ruling elite is concerned with the church burning yesterday and the others that have been done since the Arab Spring.
5) Concerned because the church burning might tend to discourage freedom of religious choice among the local population.

It's the paranoia that amazes me.
The fastest growing religion in the world, probably wealthier than any religion has ever been in all of human history, at a time when the world around it is eager to buy into every one of its self-justifications - positioned, in short, to be downright triumphant with confidence - and it goes haywire in a nano-second over the tiniest incursions into its space, and the most miniscule expressions of criticism.
One could be forgiven for supposing that there is something essential about that, something that runs very deep.
Muslims live on the memory of their great days, when their ancestors had one of the world's premier civilizations and were a great power. And since they attributed that success to Divine Favour, they have been left in a somewhat awkward situation ever since the success ended.
This may have made them a bit touchy, but, I get the impression that their radical hyper-sensitivity goes much deeper than that.
I think it's all about the belatedness of their religion. They consider Islam to be the world's great revelation of the One Universal God, and they take for granted that the world should always have been at its feet. And if the world wasn't going to be voluntarily at its feet, then the bloody jihad to force it to do so should have succeeded, with God's help, in about three or four generations.
But the world wasn't interested, and much of it defended itself against the armies of God, quite successfully. More to the point, Jews and Christians already knew all about One Universal God, and saw nothing but derivativeness in the message of Mohammed, a derivativeness which is so patent that it is hard to deny, and hard to look away from, even if you officially buy into Islam's view that Judaism and Christianity are misprised versions of itself.
The obvious reality nags at you: Islam comes AFTER Judaism and Christianity. It is derivative. Not only is Islam quite unoriginal, its unoriginality points straight to its being of HUMAN, not Divine, origin, and the cast of mind induced by the inescapability of that reflection is not a comfortable one. It results in paranoia, paranoia that is painfully underscored by the fact that, for some unknown reason, God withdrew His favour from the righteous attempt to subjugate the world which He, according to Islamic belief, originally commanded.
Islam's belatedness, and its derivativeness, cut off the Muslim mind from the real roots of spirituality in the collective unconscious. Muslim paranoia is essential, not accidental. It is one of the characteristics of Islam, like its screaming righteousness and its utter callousness about the suffering it causes, that suggest a collective attitude comparable to psychopathy in an individual.
Hence, instant viciousness at provocations which, by any normal standard, are not provocations at all.
Lack of originality is not necessarily proof of falsity. I'm sure someone who came long before my first grade teacher figured out that two plus three equals five, and that my teacher was just carrying on the tradition.
Further, as a Christian, I read the New Testament, and find lots of intertextuality with the Old; and as I read the prophets, I find a lot of intertextuality with the Torah.
Kong Zi (Confucius) described himself as a transmitter of ancient virtue rather than a creator, as if living in the 5th century BC wasn't "ancient" enough!
The problem of Islam's claim to carry on the prophetic tradition is that it must posit the falsification of the Old and New Testaments while being unable to explain how the mutually non-cooperating Jews and Christians argue over the same Old Testament; while different sects of Christians have the same New Testament. it further must keep the eyes of Muslims away from the previous revelations, even though for Christians, 4/5 of the Christian Bible is shared with the Jews (albeit with the books in a somewhat different order).
But, to get back to the topic at hand, it seems that that whole area from Mauretania to Mindanao, Nigeria to Ningxia, Kama to Comorros is volatile, volatile, volatile.And even if there weren't any of us Kufr around, Islam would be enough of a Dar-al-Harb in and of itself.

Seriously, are you implying that what Muslims are doing to Christians today in Egypt...and in Pakistan...and in Indonesia...and in Malaysia...and in Nigeria...and Sudan... (wand in a whole bunch of other countries (and which is exactly what they are *also* doing to Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus, and anybody else who isn't a Muslim, including apostates from Islam, and what they also did to Jews when Jews lived as dhimmis within Muslim lands) is a divinely-ordained punishment for what *some* Christians (without, actually, any commandment given to that effect by Jesus, who was a Jew) historically, in the near or the distant past, did to Jews? And do you believe that that child's death would be just, because of what Hitler (who was not a Christian at all, and had every intention of wiping out the Christians after he'd finished with the Jews) did to Jews?
