She was not seen as a threat because the staff and patrons of the Oxboro Library likely looked at Samira Salim the same way they would look at a Jehovah's Witness, a Hari Krishna, or a Scientologist prosthelytizing and handing out literature—perhaps a bit intrusive at times, but peaceful and entirely well-meaning.

Perhaps it would be more realistic to regard *anyone* "handing out the Koran and talking religion"—if that religion is Islam—to be potentially violent.

I know this library. It's a small suburban branch of the Hennepin Country Library system located at 88th St. and France Avenue in a middlish middle class neighborhood. I've been in this building, but was on the alert for Moslems the whole time.

1) The secular Left can never understand religion because in their minds they "know" it's all garbage, and so NONE of them will ever take the time to read and study, learn and understand religious scripture and philosophy. Instead their only source is their caricaturized preconception of what they THINK they know about religion. An unbridgeable gulf and positive feedback system which ensures that they will remain forever ignorant.

2) Leftists will never acknowledge that the largest horrors and genocides in the last 100 years were almost all of secular origin. The Islamic genocide of Armenians was of course because of Islam which as we know is not really a religion but a social system which sees others as not worthy of life. This week I heard from a secularist that Hitler was motivated because of his devout Roman Catholic faith!

This pair of syndromes I believe is key to understanding the reasons why so many Westerners insist on suicidal dodo-bird like behavior and stubborn denial of the truth which is in our faces.

Wellington, exactly. I am pretty secular, non-practicing Catholic and so I understand both points of view. In North America especially, not so much in Europe, mention JC and out comes the wolfbane!

If these folks had any idea that the way they think, their value systems, our empathetic moral compass, the conditions which made our society possible, has been shaped by the Judeo-Christian philosophy in innumerable ways. Paradoxical to say the least.

As the issue of religion becomes more visible thanks to the advance of Islam in our society, I find that I am actually getting more interested in Christianity and Judaism, as opposed too my earlier fascination with Native and Eastern spirituality, since Islam is pitting itself against specifically "first the Saturday people and then the Sunday people", religious or not.

Another worthy study is personal understanding of the mindsets of the two cultures - guilt-based (Western) and honor-based (Islamic). It is important that we understand the minds of those who seem to be duty-bound to dominate our culture, and if we don't understand their mindset we are helpless to respond appropriately (short of civil war, God forbid!)

If it were me that was stabbed, I would have probably killed her.

There's the obligatory Shocked ! Shocked! reaction from fellow Muslims, who go on about what a lovely, sweet, nice person she was to them. Suuure: because they were fellow Muslims. It doesn't say in the article whether the people she stabbed were non-Muslims; but I'd be prepared to bet on it.

Wafa Sultan saw a Muslim woman, in America, go into a store and deliberately poke holes in the packaging of foods. An incredibly small-scale, mean-minded viciousness, aimed at harming both the shop-owner and the customers who would buy food in damaged - no longer hygienic - packaging.

And I recall a case in Canada of a Muslim woman who deliberately inserted sewing needles into ready-to-eat packaged pork products that were normally sold to kids for their school lunches.

It's the obsessive nastiness of all of this that really gets to me.

The incident to which this article refers illustrates one additional key difference between the Judeo-Christian and the Islamic views of humanity - the concept of man being "created in the image of God". This concept informs our Western worldview, making possible our much-abused Universal Human Rights. This absence of the sacredness of human life in Islam helps us to understand why we will never see such progress in the Islamic countries, supporting the comment you made as well.

The other Judeo-Christian concept which makes us who we are - to treat others as you would have them treat you - makes a compassionate worldview complete.

This spiritual void in the Islamic mind, absence of these concepts of love and the "divinity" within us leaves only the human ego to power our human ingenuity. That is why Islamists are so prolifically violent, devising crimes against humanity without any sense of remorse or compassion. Parents who honor-kill their daughters NEVER show any remorse. Palis hand out candies when Israeli families are butchered. Hamas children's TV actually reenacts flying airliners into office buildings... an abhorrent and sick society, which I believe is beyond hope.

Equally beyond hope is our own self-hating fifth column enemy. As regards the Koran, Don Richardson's well-thought-out book "Secrets of the Koran" is a good resource. The Islamic Mein Kampf itself is very frustrating to read, and he does the hard work for us by condensing the concepts using several translators. It is written with a Christian perspective but don't let that turn you away from it. I really learned a lot from it.

We have a lot of work to do helping our countrymen open their eyes.

There's another case this reminds me of.

My husband insists that I carry pepper spray while on my walks. Gosh, won't he be shocked to learn that I need to take it with me to the library as well.
