This barely rates a squib of a story in the local paper. Of course, it's not a surau, madrassah or mosque that's at risk of imminent demolition. "Ex-Hindraf Leader stops temple demolition", from The Star Online, 17 June:
MAKKAL Osai reported that former ISA detainee and Hindraf leader K. Vasantha Kumar managed to temporarily halt the demolition of six houses and the Kaliammal Temple in Kampong Telaga Cina in Bedong, near Sungai Petani.Vasantha Kumar said the landowners had obtained permission from the court to demolish the 100-year-old temple and the six houses.
The paper reported that about 300 people, including devotees, had gathered near the temple to protest the demolition.
Vasantha Kumar managed to delay the demolition by five days. He said he would meet with the landowners and their lawyers to find a peaceful solution.
It should hardly be surprising that a Malaysian court, which almost certainly has a Muslim presiding judge, would grant permission to demolish a 100-year-old Hindu temple. Even the headline of this piece is misleading -- it's hardly a permanent halt, just a five-day stay of execution for the infidel holy building. The 'peaceful solution' that the last paragraph mentions probably involves a peaceful pile of rubble where a temple used to stand and 'persuading' unbelievers to peacefully keep their mouths shut if they know what's good for them.
That a group of 300 non Muslims would dare to stand up for their rights is a refreshing breeze of anti-dhimmitude in a country that rarely sees such things, but such actions always face long odds in Muslim-controlled territory. To wit, the 'HINDRAF' mentioned in the article is a banned group in Malaysia called the 'Hindu Rights Action Force', a group that was banned in 2007 and continues to be banned for openly defying the (Muslim-controlled) government. Its leaders have languished in Malaysian prisons -- sometimes for years -- without charge, trial, or conviction. 'ISA', which refers to a draconian law called the Internal Security Act, makes this all perfectly legal in Malaysia.
This fits into a larger pattern. Malaysia has quite a lengthy track record of destroying temples and churches over the years on one pretext or another (see here and here for two recent incidents). This source states that 79 Hindu temples have been destroyed by the authorities since Malaysian independence in 1957.
Malaysia's treatment of Hindus, not to mention Christians, Bahais, Buddhists and members of every other non Islamic belief system within its jurisdiction, is handy to keep in mind the next time you hear or read about Muslims prattling on about how moderate, open minded and pluralistic Islam supposedly is.
Let me repeat Malaysia is Saudi Arabia of the East!!! They excel in demolishing ancient Hindu temples and christian churches to build new malls or other developments. This way they are killing two birds with one stone - getting rid of all non-Muslim places of worship and replace them with malls and or mosques.
And they are ghoulish body snatchers also. In recent years there have been many instances when they have taken over the bodies of Hindus, Christians, Buddhists,etc, and declared the Muslim and buried them. Ask all those Hindu families who were not able to perform the last rites of their dearly departed one who are still rotting in Islamic graves!!
Except for that Malaysia is a "moderate" Muslim country!!(sarc.)

I think it's fair to say that virtually every Moslem country is a "Saudi Arabia" to a greater or lesser degree.
Stories/articles like this certainly explode all the lies and myths muslims peddle about being tolerant towards non-muslims. Basically when muslims rule, life is hell on earth for non-muslims.
It's a shame that GW Bush after 9/11 did not stop to consider the whole problem in its entirety. All he did was hunt down a few bad guys and ignored the fact that we're in a global ideological war against Islam. It'd be like going after a few of Hitler's henchmen during WW2, not recognizing that the war is with Nazism.
What else can one say? Islam is a threat to every value we hold dear and it must be eliminated, we don't have any other option if our civilization and the free world is to survive.
We don't have to fight a billion people, we just have to get rid of their death cult and impose democracy on their populations and I'm sure we can oblige the wishes of those 'radicals' who wish to die for Allah.
It just makes it all the more obvious that we really need good, strong leadership who recognize that we're at war with Islam and will work to defeat this threat. The only politician I know who truly understands this is Allen West and perhaps Rudy Giuliani comes closest.

I’m speaking as an ethnic Malay as a Malaysian convert from Islam to Christianity myself. I have seen Malays wave it off with the explanation that the Chinese and the Hindu Indians have far too much influence, that they are newcomers and have come to take over everything from the Malays, that the preferential treatment of Malay religion, economics, politics and traditions is self defense only.

I once read that Bhumiputra privileges are given to not just Malays, but also Hui i.e. Muslim Chinese. I'm not sure about ethnic Indian Muslims, but it seems clear enough that even if one is not Malay, but Muslim, one can get the benefits of being Malay. And since Malays are defined as Muslims, it conveniently eliminates the possibility of proving that Malay non-Muslims are discriminated against.

I don't know what the Laws are in the USA for Tax-Exempt Status for religious Buildings or quasi-Charity for children's causes, but in Canada a Charity can NOT become a Polical crusader when the rules make it clear they can only serve they Social needs of persons or help prevent future harm to victims. The IRS should re-define a Charity or valid Faith and demand that a *Mission Statement* with the Tenets be filed on record to justifty a Charity Status termination for violations within ANY temple or faith based building.

With all due respect, Fitna—and I do respect your comments—one cannot *impose* democracy. One can only offer it.
The most obvious cases must be Germany, Italy, and Japan following WWII. It certainly helped that Fascism had been so thoroughly crushed in those places by the allies, but if the German, Italian, and Japanese people hadn't finally adopted democracy as their own, it never would have worked.
I do believe we have made many terrible mistakes in Afghanistan and Iraq—the most egregious being avowing "respect" for Islam and cluelessly allowing a default to Shari'ah in those country's constitutions.
Even more fundamental, though (pun intended)—is that Islam does not allow for the embracing of true democracy. I doubt it would have worked even if we hadn't been so obtuse and naïve.
Any "democracy" embraced in Dar-al-Islam is bound to be superficial and temporary at best—and a handy way of voting in profoundly *anti-democratic* Shari'ah law at worst.
