The TSA: protecting us from 95-year-old wheelchair-bound leukemia sufferers. But hey -- at least they're not profiling Muslims, and that's all that matters!
"Elderly woman asked to remove adult diaper during TSA search," by Lauren Sage Reinlie for NWF Daily News, June 25 (thanks to Pamela Geller):
A woman has filed a complaint with federal authorities over how her elderly mother was treated at Northwest Florida Regional Airport last weekend.Jean Weber of Destin filed a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security after her 95-year-old mother was detained and extensively searched last Saturday while trying to board a plane to fly to Michigan to be with family members during the final stages of her battle with leukemia.
Her mother, who was in a wheelchair, was asked to remove an adult diaper in order to complete a pat-down search.
“It’s something I couldn’t imagine happening on American soil,” Weber said Friday. “Here is my mother, 95 years old, 105 pounds, barely able to stand, and then this.”
Sari Koshetz, a spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration in Miami, said she could not comment on specific cases to protect the privacy of those involved.
“The TSA works with passengers to resolve any security alarms in a respectful and sensitive manner,” she said.
Weber’s mother entered the airport’s security checkpoint in a wheelchair because she was not stable enough to walk through, Weber said.
Wheelchairs trigger certain protocols, including pat-downs and possible swabbing for explosives, Koshetz said.
“During any part of the process, if there is an alarm, then we have to resolve that alarm,” she said.
Weber said she did not know whether her mother had triggered an alarm during the 45 minutes they were detained.
She said her mother was first pulled aside into a glass-partitioned area and patted down. Then she was taken to another room to protect her privacy during a more extensive search, Weber said.
Weber said she sat outside the room during the search.
She said security personnel then came out and told her they would need for her mother to remove her Depends diaper because it was soiled and was impeding their search.
Weber wheeled her mother into a bathroom, removed her diaper and returned. Her mother did not have another clean diaper with her, Weber said.
Weber said she wished there were less invasive search methods for an elderly person who is unable to walk through security gates.
“I don’t understand why they have to put them through that kind of procedure,” she said.
Koshetz said the procedures are the same for everyone to ensure national security.
“TSA cannot exempt any group from screening because we know from intelligence that there are terrorists out there that would then exploit that vulnerability,” she said....
How admirable: the lone sentinel, willing to take the heat to do what is necessary to protect us all. Except, of course, take into consideration in any way whatsoever the nature of the actual terrorist threat, the ideology behind it, and the likelihood that some groups are more likely to commit terrorist acts than others.
Weber said she plans to file additional complaints next week.“I’m not one to make waves, but dadgummit, this is wrong. People need to know. Next time it could be you.”
That's fine. As long as it isn't Ibrahim Hooper or Ahmed Rehab or Nihad Awad or Reza Aslan, or Khalid Aldawsari, the would-be jihad mass murderer in Lubbock, Texas; or Muhammad Hussain, the would-be jihad bomber in Baltimore; or Mohamed Mohamud, the would-be jihad bomber in Portland; or Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood jihad mass-murderer; or Faisal Shahzad, the would-be Times Square jihad mass-murderer; or Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, the Arkansas military recruiting station jihad murderer; or Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the would-be Christmas airplane jihad bomber; or any of their coreligionists who might want to launch a similar attack, then all is well.
[Muslim] Suicide bomber in wheelchair kills two in Iraq

OT
More on the husband and wife bombers. It turns out that they are Uzbec nationals.
Pakistani Taliban threaten husband-and-wife bombings
“We sent a husband and wife,” Taliban spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan told AFP, identifying them as “Uzbek nationals”.
“We have several such couples and we will keep on targeting security forces in Afghanistan and Pakistan until the doors of oppression are shut.”

As long as the present gang is in charge of our national security, incidents like this will continue to be a commonplace just to show to Muslims and their terrorist buddies we aren't profiling them.
After all terrorists don't always wear islamic garb, who knows a 95 year wheeled chair bound grandma suffering with leukemia or a three year old kid could have been brainwashed with jihad and would become a home grown terrorist.
Nothing can slip by the keen eyes and paws of TSA guards except the real Muslim terrorists!!! Real morons up and down this administration!!
It is as if the whole world is transformed into a prison camp where sadistic Islamic wardens force prisoners to perform evil deeds upon one another. The warden must take joy, sadistic joy, from news like this -- like watching emaciated Jews carting the remains of other Jews to some disposal pit.
(That is the visual I get.)
This is completely outrageous!
If profiling based on the well-known demographic profiles of terrorists were in place, instead of basing screening on the illogical and ridiculous notion that babies and elderly cancer patients are equally likely to be terrorists as 18-35 year old Muslims from the Middle East, this nonsense would not occur.
This woman's family needs to complain long and loudly about this, including publicly holding TSA's feet to the fire, and push a law suit if that is possible.
STOP WHINING AND DO SOMETHING!
I called Congressman Allen West and Senator Rubio's office to voice my disgust and indignation against this tyranny.
Start calling and writing government officials
Stop buying products and services from mohamedons
Get energy efficient and recycle, reduce your oil consumption.
Speak up and tell others even if it is uncomfortable or potentially awkward. Silence kills.
DO SOMETHING !
now would they make a muslim take off his turban or burqa? such PC BS at the airport!
remember this?

Hear, hear!
Here's one way to participate: Embarrass the shit out of the following "professors". Make them pay a price for being Muslim pisants.

Radical Christian underwear bomber!

Arafat, I read the despicable opinion piece by the professors, and your comments following them. You were awesome! I notice your comments were made two weeks ago, and there has not yet been a single attempted rebuttle to any of them since then. Despite your arguments being air tight, we all know that liberal academics are wont to attack their critics, and judging by this piece it would be by the end-to-end string together of the same kind of meaningless concepts that are mistaken for thought in their world, with some invective and ad hominems thrown in for good measure. I do believe you managed to render them into silence.
Well done!
Eastview,
I'm grinning ear-to-ear. A compliment from Eastview is indeed high praise. (Thanks!)
Last year, my frail dad, who's in his 70's and needs a cane to walk, was patted down by the TSA both to and from Orlando. At the Orlando airport the TSA worker was rough and my dad got upset, so I made a comment about them patting down my dad while letting real terrorists through. At that point he stopped everything and called a policeman because I made an "inappropriate comment". The cop was very pleasant and diffused the situation, after which the TSA man completed his patdown and let us through.
Funny, though, my dad is a flaming Jewish liberal who doesn't think Muslims should be profiled. He views them as victims and defends them because Jews were treated so bad throughout the centuries. When I showed him Andrew Bostom's book with over 800 pages of source material documenting Islamic Jew-hatred, he wouldn't even glance at it because the author was "biased", as my dad saw it.
Yet as long as there's a rigid taboo against profiling based on race or religion, people like my dad and this 95-year-old mother are going to make the alarms go off. Of course there's still profiling going on, it just ends up being against people with certain types of wheelchairs or canes, or other other random "dangers". I guess people like my dad support such random profiling, unless it happens to them.
Begs the question: Does your dad understand Israel's need to profile passengers at Ben Gurion Airport? And, if so, why not our TSA doing so as well? Are not the reasons to do so identical, i.e., Muslims desire to destroy our houses from the ground up (or more accurately from the air down)?
Ah, silly me, he's a liberal so it's never, ever Muslim's fault. They're just the poor, oppressed peoples acting as any of us would if we were in their shoes.
Believe me, you are not alone, I have plenty of like-minded people in my family too. The logic goes -- Muslims are just like you and me -- just a tad bit more frustrated. Begs the question: Are liberals all morons? (Just kidding for all the liberals out there, for comparing liberals to morons is to disparage morons.)
Trying to reason with these family members is not unlike trying to reason with, well, a Muslim. Which is to say, taking a nap is arguably a better use of one's precious time.
That said we all only have one Dad so the effort is probably worth the time.
This is exactly the type of thing which if it happened to a 95 year old Muslim woman would be the cause of a lawsuit by CAIR. It would be labeled as a hate crime or Islamophobic bias, and we wouldn't hear the end of how it is proof that the West wants to humiliate Muslims.
Jean Weber of Destin filed a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security after her 95-year-old mother was detained and extensively searched last Saturday while trying to board a plane to fly to Michigan to be with family members during the final stages of her battle with leukemia.
.........................
That this poor woman should have to go through this is appalling.
I agree with Jamadagnii—if this had happened to a 95-year-old Muslim woman, CAIR would be suing—and mounting a media assault via the 24-hour news networks.
And yet—stories like this stop this search from being completely implausible:
"Iraq jihad martyrdom suicide bomber in wheelchair murders two wounds 17"

God, I hate Islam.
Unfortunately, Muslims have taught us that if we don't use Israeli type screening, we must screen infants and cancer patients.
The PC ridden homeland security department refuses to use logical profiling and searches everyone. It is not beyond the Muslims to plant explosives on infants, disabled or elderly or anyone for that matter.
We can thank Napolitano for this PC madness that causes these abominations to be necessary.
Arafat,
I echo what Eastview said: "Well done!"
That comment you made (one the UC/Davis) page was absolutely stunning!
I couldn't have rebutted that any better.
Arafat, your riposte was awesome! Great job!
I'm going to have to be the dissenting voice here. I don't see anything wrong with the TSA doing their job. That the people in question being checked are very old and infirmed is sad I suppose.
From the comments here, people are so filled with Islamic hate (and rightly so) that they automatically assume any and all threats would be from a muslim. It's not. And while I don't agree that a 95 year old woman is a threat, if all people in wheelchairs are checked because some devout muslims out there are getting more and more trickier with their scheme to cause harm to us, well better safe than sorry. These are the types of things you agree to subject yourself to when you decide to fly.
Now to say if it was a muslim that was the target of this kind of search, that lawsuits would be filled. That is not on the TSA, that's is on the muslims who love to play victim. It is well in the rights of anyone else to file similar lawsuits if they so choose. Maybe if people did the law system would see how inane the measures of victimhood goes with some muslims and their exploitation of it.
And to the mention of profiling--it has it's flaws. And besides, I've read enough stories on JW alone at the outrage of muslims being profiled to know it gets done. Like an above poster stated, the moment you add a vulnerability into the system is the moment a devout muslim will jump to exploit it.
On a side note, I find it interesting that the daughter has the audacity to be outraged at having to remove her mother's soiled Depend and not have any spare ones on hand?! They hadn't even boarded the plane to fly to their destination yet! Would she be that inattentive to a baby's needs?
The reason your dad thinks this way is because your dad is a reasonable, intelligent man! He sees it this way because in his logical mind, NO ONE would behave the way the muslims do unless they were severely oppressed and harmed continuously! Your dad has a kind heart and he is altruistic. I completely understand where he is coming from!
That said, he's wrong. Is this a case of nature vs. nurture? God said the children of ishmael will always raise their hand against you. If your dad is jewISH, practicing jew, and a believer in what God says, he would HEAR what God is saying and take it as "gospel". God doesn't make mistakes of any kind. When God says that these people are dangerous and will always try to harm you, he means it. God isn't discriminating or being racist. God is telling you something very basic such as a parent tells a child when something is dangerous. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule but in your dad's case, he has the rule and exception backward.
And not to actually compare a muslim to a dog but how many towns have banned pit bulls or rottweilers because they're "DANGEROUS"? Is the dog really dangerous? Or are they looking at statistics and finding that these dogs represent the vast majority of attacks on people and coming to the conclusion that it is better to eliminate the possibility of an attack in their town on their watch?
Your dad looks at the humanity (he's not wrong in doing that) and thinks that all people are basically the same, want the same things, and live without incident. But these people are TAUGHT to be hateful and violent toward the infidel. You can no more change that train of thought any more than you can tell me 2+2=5. I've been TAUGHT the answer is 4 and I will go to my grave believing it, as will they.
One more thing, even before islam came into existence the children of ishmael were violent against jews and each other. The jews fled from Egypt and slavery! There was no islam, but there WAS a country full of ishmaelites.
Maybe it's not the muslims' fault! Maybe they're just doing what God said they'd do and it's up to us to avoid them. Swimming with the sharks will probably get you eaten so leave the water to them!
Here is my suggestion... Encact legislation granting immunity from lawsuits to those in the security industry... border guards, security at airports, ect. And start profiling candidates that are highly likely to commit terror - muslims! Just do it!
Just wanted to alert everyone:

Judge Rules Nonprofit Can Sue Ex-Intern Accused of Document Theft
– The BLT: The Blog of Legal Times.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations Action Network can move ahead with a lawsuit against a former intern accused of stealing more than 12,000 internal documents, a Washington federal court judge ruled on Friday.
The group is suing the former intern, Chris Gaubatz, and his father, author and self-described counterterrorism researcher Paul Gaubatz. The Washington-based Muslim advocacy nonprofit claims Chris Gaubtz posed as a Muslim college student as a ruse to secure an internship, and then stole the documents and e-mails for his father.
That Chris Gaubatz obtained the internal documents and gave them to his father is undisputed; in Paul Gaubatz’s 2009 book, “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America,” he describes the plan at-length. The two sides dispute whether the documents were taken unlawfully and also whether the publication of the documents constitutes protected speech.
You might want to get your copy of Muslim Mafia now, in case the judge decides to ban it forever.
