U.K.: Home Secretary warns universities have been "complacent" about jihadist indoctrination

As an earlier report noted, there is also a "reluctance to co-operate with the police on the part of some universities that did not want to be seen to be 'spying' on their students." That is bad enough. But there is an even deeper reluctance to cause offense or challenge politically correct dogma by finding fault actual Islamic teachings. That reluctance encourages a deep state of denial that there could even really be that much of a problem. And so jihadist groups continue to flourish.

"Universities 'complacent' over Islamic radicals, Theresa May warns," by Duncan Gardham for the Telegraph, June 5:

Theresa May told The Daily Telegraph that universities were not taking the issue of radicalisation seriously enough and that it was too easy for Muslim extremists to form groups on campuses “without anyone knowing”.
She also said the Government would cut funding to any Islamic group that espoused extremist views, and set out the “key British values” to which those seeking support must subscribe. It is understood that about 20 groups are already losing their funding.
Mrs May made her comments ahead of the publication this week of the updated version of the Prevent counter-terrorism strategy.
“I think for too long there’s been complacency around universities,” she said. “I don’t think they have been sufficiently willing to recognise what can be happening on their campuses and the radicalisation that can take place. I think there is more that universities can do.”
Mrs May said universities had to “send very clear messages” and “ask themselves some questions about what happens on their campuses”.
She also criticised the Federation of Student Islamic Societies for not challenging extremism sufficiently.
“They need to be prepared to stand up and say that organisations that are extreme or support extremism or have extremist speakers should not be part of their grouping,” Mrs May said.
Her remarks follow comments made by Nicola Dandridge, the head of Universities UK, which represents vice-chancellors, claiming there was no evidence that extremist speakers at university encouraged violence.
As part of the Prevent strategy, the Government will define as extremists anyone who “does not subscribe to human rights, equality before the law, democracy and full participation in society”, including those who “promote or implicitly tolerate the killing of British soldiers”.

There is some wiggle room for dissimulation on all of those terms except for the last. One line that Muslim groups in Britain consistently cannot cross without a public response rightfully continues to be the nation's expectation of respect for British soldiers.

Mrs May said: “We are looking at a set of values we believe we have here in the UK and those people opposed to those values are people who the Government won’t be funding or engaging with.”
It is understood that the strategy will also name 25 boroughs that are most at risk from Islamist extremism, including areas of London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bradford and Manchester.
There will also be a move to limit access to extremist websites from public buildings, particularly schools and public libraries.

That will be controversial, and could be quite a test for the moderate/extremist distinction.

Details of partnerships with YouTube and AOL to try to tackle extremism online, using lessons learned from anti-paedophile policing will be made public.
As well as fighting violent extremism, the Government will tackle extremist philosophies in general, including groups that can act as a “stepping stone” to terrorism.
“There’s an ideology out there that we need to challenge and when we first came in as a government one of the things we were very clear about here at the Home Office was we needed to look at extremism, not just violent extremism,” Mrs May said....

The entire UK educational system has been subverted from kindergarten to post-graduate level. Saudi-funded departments of Islamic studies are springing up at universities and brainwashing gullible kuffars with their RoP spiel. The indoctrinated dhimmis then go out and spread their taqiyya throughout the system. http://crombouke.blogspot.com/2010/01/islamic-infiltration-and-subversion-of.html

"There’s an ideology out there that we need to challenge..." -- Theresa May

Indeed there is such an ideology, Mrs. May, and it has a name - Islam. Why the reluctance to say it? How do you expect to "challenge" something if you can't call it by its proper name?

Or is it because you, like many other politicians, feel threatened by the well known violent reactions of Muslims who will be displeased by being "insulted?" If so, then you are clearly incapable of representing and protecting the citizens who elected you and are therefore not worthy to hold the office you occupy. Why can you not call a spade a spade and talk about what normal people are able to clearly see with their own eyes?

And to these normal people I ask, why do you continue to elect people who are so blind and cowardly? Get rid of them now while you are still able to do so.

Things are moving a bit here in the UK. So far, the conservatives were not much different from the Labour in their policies against Islam. But David Cameron, our Prime Minister, has announced a New crackdown on home-grown terror that will broaden definition of Islamic ‘extremism’ in the UK. What does this mean? Well, not only these groups will be investigated and charged for hate speech and terrorists acts, but also if they do not comply with the requirements of the British Values (eg. Women Rights) let's hope this will start to make a difference here in Europe!

Islamist front groups like the MAS know that, naivete, liberal progressive thinking, complacency and the rebellious, cause seeking nature of youth, are the qualities that are most suseptible to Islamic influence.

Islamists know that only through a generational compaign, can their agenda, truly take root. I am confident that we are learning Europe's failed liberal policies.

We have two great oceanic divides the greatest document mankind has ever written and thanks to the efforts of people like Spencer, Geller, Wilders, Gaffney, Emerson, Horowitz and others, we will not suffer the same fate as Europe.

It isn’t only the presence of radical groups, it’s the biased agenda pushed by the universities and indeed other institutions with a duty to educate such as the BBC.

For instance, on the occasion of the recent Pope’s visit to the UK, they broadcast a program entitled “The trials of Pope Benedict,” presented by a gay ex-priest. The implication seemed to be that Benedict, for his failure to deal adequately with child abuse in the Church, was a criminal who deserved to be in jail. There was no documentary about child abuse and child marriage in the Islamic world , needless to say. The only documentaries the BBC shows about Islam are one that usually claim that Muslims created the entire Renassance.

Scathing criticism of the Pope may be justified but I do have a problem with the BBC’s ludicrous bias. As an organisation it ain’t fit for purpose.

"It is understood that about 20 [Islamic] groups are already losing their funding."

Well, how many Islamic Groups are there that are still receive funding? Why should UK tax payers be happy about funding Islamic groups? Why are tax payers funding Islamic groups, the mere idea sounds wacky.

its not just in the UK, there is a similar pattern in all universities. Many of the "students" are only signed up for single courses to get their foot in the door. This is how Turkey devolved so fast, Iranian students coming in 20 years ago.

We are not able to do so because we are not allowed to vote in a way that would actually change things.

Take EU membership for instance; we were 'promised' repeatedly ("Cast-iron guarantee" given) by successive UK governments, or parties seeking election!, that we would be given a referendum on that issue. That referendum never happens! Why? Presumably 'they' know we would vote the 'wrong way,' so no vote for us.

The MSM slams and demonizes any party that has views anything like those espoused by this site and convinces the public the sky would fall down if it ever got into office. The majority of people therefore haven’t a clue what is going on.

There’s an ideology out there that we need to challenge and ... we needed to look at extremism, not just violent extremism,” Mrs May said.

Good Lord! Could it be the British government has finally grasped the obvious? It's beginning to look like they might have developed some method in their madness. No wonder the sellout (= we should appease) politicians (including the Muslim infiltrators) are strongly objecting. But how will this government challenge it? Just by withhold public funds that they were suckers enough to supply in the first place? That's not challenging, that's just annoying.

To really challenge an ideology a government has to first mention it, and mention it explicitly. That means actually referring to the objectionable parts of Qur'an and Sharia law and demanding that British Muslims reject them - or least the obvious "interpretations" of them since doubtlessly Muslims will scream about interpretation "out of context" - and show that they mean it in the mosques & schools.

With our Islamic infiltrator in the White House this is not possible here (at least not from the executive branch), but it is possible in Britain. Does Cameron really have the spine to to organize a challenge to the roots of the extremism he claims to abhor? I'll believe it when it happens.

40 UK universities are now breeding grounds for terror as hardline groups peddle hate on campus

Thanks to the UK's liberal immigration policies, the single biggest factor plaguing the UK and other EU countries is it's Muslim community's birth rate vs. the birth rate of the UK and the rest of Europe's indiginous people.

She also said the Government would cut funding to any Islamic group that espoused extremist views, and set out the “key British values” to which those seeking support must subscribe. It is understood that about 20 groups are already losing their funding.
.............................

This is very important. But it is not just student groups that are the potential problem—it is "Islamic Studies" departments themselves.

Here's this story, from Canada, where Huron College is taking money from the Muslim Brotherhood and supporters of Hamas:

"Canada: Ontario college accepts $2 million from Islamic groups linked to jihad terrorism"

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/06/canada-ontario-college-accepts-2-million-from-islamic-groups-linked-to-jihad-terrorism.html

It is not the only one. Islamic Studies departments all over the Western world are funded by Saudi Arabia and by other explicit supporters of Jihad.

Its a good first step, and lets hope that Cameron carries it out, for he has a tendency to make public announcements then letting it slip.

The main concern is that as Muslims see gathering opposition, they will go into full victim mode, or just keep their heads down.

Meanwhile the demographic jihad is ongoing, and in the fullness of time, Muslims will legislate for sharia, via a majority in parliament. This is the real problem.

"But it is not just student groups that are the potential problem—it is "Islamic Studies" departments themselves."

Indeed. It is not sufficient to trim the branches, the entire tree needs to be rooted out.

The establishment of "Islamic Studies" departments has occurred within the larger context of the Leftist takeover of the Humanities in the universities.

There are at least two problems that need addressing concerning this. The first is the acceptance of funding by foreign governments, especially Saudi Arabia, in the establishment of these programs. This should be outlawed if it can be proved that the money comes with strings attached, such as influence in faculty hiring and the content of the curriculum (and is there any doubt that it does?).

On a larger scale, universities are currently strapped for money. One of the ways they could trim their budgets is to eliminate all the programs that have sprung up since the Sixties and Seventies devoted to special interests: Women's programs, African American studies, Mexican American studies, etc., which in many universities are separate departments. They exist solely as platforms for political indoctrination and are staffed by activists who, having no salable skills otherwise, have managed to worm their way into well paying academic jobs. Eliminate these programs entirely. They offer little of value to students. If these departments of "diversity" are to be continued at all, then take half the money they get and use it to create counterbalancing departments of conservative studies.

The Islamic/Middle East studies faculties in British universities are run by the Muslim Brotherhood and financed by the Saudis to the tune of hundreds of millions of pounds.

They use academia to disseminate their white-washed version of Islam throughout the media - the version of islam they want us to have, which is half-truths mixed with outright lies. The Federation of Student Islamic Societies has not challenged Islamic extremism "sufficiently" - and won't ever - because it is a Muslim Brotherhood front group, just like the Muslim Council of Britain.

"The breeding grounds of terror"

by
Professor Anthony Glees, director of the Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies at the University of Buckingham, England.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/terrorism-in-the-uk/8560409/The-breeding-grounds-of-terror.html

Excellent stuff. .Professor Glees has his brains in the right place.

It takes Brit politicians just a couple of decades to realise what everyone already knows.

Still, let's hope some of them are prepared to break their slumber for longer than it takes to yawn and roll over.

Just remember - if Camoron's lips are moving, he is lying! The same goes for May, Warsi and all his dhimmi puppets! They do not have the courage to tackle the evil of islam, demonstrated on a daily basis by the total lack of resolve to stamp out this pernicious disease - they are selling us out with their pinko appeasement - Chamberlains, all of them! 'Capitulating to Hitler's successors' - coming to a city near you!

At least David Cameron seems to have the right person for the job, unlike Obama/Eric Holder team. Good on them!

Hahahah....I was talking about this in late 90's and was shot down for being a "racist"....how can these sweaty jihadis take control of the debate.

As for Cameron/Clegg..these fuckers could not lie straight in bed...
