A British expat has been fined AED3, 000 for insulting Ramadan on a social networking site and calling her colleague a dictator, it was reported Wednesday.The 31-year old woman, who admitted posting a status update on her Facebook page expressing her dislike for Ramadan, was charged at the Dubai Court of Misdemeanours on Tuesday, according to The National.
The colleague of the accused, an Egyptian woman, said in a statement to the court that she had seen a “disrespectful” status update about Ramadan on September 4 last year.
“I told her to not say such things about the holy month as she was in a Muslim country,” she was quoted as telling prosecutors by the paper.
The accused responded by calling the woman stupid and ignorant and saying she was a closed-minded dictator and a follower of bin Laden, said the newspaper.
Police referred the accused to prosecutors eight months later on charges of insulting a religious creed. That charge was dismissed before being referred to the court on insult charges.
Judge Mohammed Ahmed Shoaib fined the accused AED3,000.

They can't eat anywhere near a muslim colleague, or even have food within sight of a Muslim colleague, out of respect for mighty Islam...

Sounds like religious discrimination against your wife... why should she have to follow Muslim Ramadan eating practices, if this inhibits her ability to follow her normal daily routine?! Sunday is a Christian day of rest... so would your wife's hospital/surgery expect anyone not to be seen working on a Sunday in view of a Christian? If not, surely a matter of double-standards...

They're getting something about behaviour of non-muslims during ramadan in their inbox every few days in the run-up.
Remember, with the NHS, we're talking about an organisation run and staffed by, in the main, socialists/ultra-dhimmis for whom The Guardian newspaper is their bible, who believe that if we're nice to muslims, and do everything they demand, then they'll 'like' us, and our problems will go away. When I read the story, it also seemed strange that the accused used the term "Dictator". Although possible, it seemed to me to be an unlikely word that anyone from the west would select as an ad hominem. I think in my entire life I have never used that word to insult someone. Whenever I've used it, it was in its proper context.
Mind you, the colleague may have been a little more assertive in her confrontation with the accused than she lets on in the court testimony, in which case, she may have come across as a dictator; but even then, I can't see the word dictator being used when English has so many other choice words with which to abuse an antagonizer.
The colleague also gave me the impression that she was keeping an eye on the accused. If so, this country sounds like it runs quite a bit along the lines of Orwell's 1984.
