Egypt: Banners in Tahrir Square read "Sharia above the constitution"

Gearing up, they hope and expect, for the revolution after the revolution. More on this story. "Groups quit Egypt rally saying hijacked by Islamists," by Edmund Blair and Marwa Awad for Reuters, July 29:

(Reuters) - More than 30 political parties and movements withdrew from a rally on Friday that was organized to send a united message to the ruling army about reform, saying the event was hijacked by Islamist groups.
"Islamic law above the constitution," read banners in Cairo's Tahrir Square that was packed with tens of thousands of people. Protesters who fear Islamists will seek to dominate plans to rewrite the constitution demanded they be taken down.
"Islamic, Islamic, we don't want secular," they chanted in the square filled with many followers of the strict Salafist interpretation of Islam.
"There are so many (Islamic) beards. We certainly feel imposed upon," said student Samy Ali, 23. He said Salafists had tried to separate women and men camping there.
Islamists and more liberal groups have diverged on how hard to press the ruling generals for change. They have also been divided over the fate of the constitution, which is to be re-written after parliament is elected later this year.

The Muslim Brotherhood has a head start on organizing over other groups by a long shot, and thus benefits the most from a vote happening as soon as possible. The group was angered in June when the interim prime minister said he preferred to delay elections.

Liberal groups fear the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's best organized group, and other Islamists will dominate the vote.

The various Islamic movements will work together toward an Islamic regime, before they descend into perpetual infighting over how much Sharia is "enough," and consequently, who has the moral authority to govern, even just within the Muslim Brotherhood.

A joint statement by more than 30 groups said Islamists and other groups had agreed on demands to make on Friday "to thwart attempts by the military council to divide the revolutionaries and distort their image." But the groups said "some Islamic currents" violated this agreement.
Abdelrahman al Barr, a senior Brotherhood member, said of the decision by other groups to quit Friday's rally: "Salafist slogans shouldn't be a cause for other political forces to withdraw. Everyone is free to say what they feel like."
But the Brotherhood is home to a broad range of views and some agreed Salafist actions were divisive. "There are certainly some Brotherhood members who are upset over the way Salafist groups have taken over the square," Brotherhood youth member Amr Salah said in Tahrir.
Friday's protests in Cairo and other cities had been called to deliver a unified message to the ruling army council, which took over when Hosni Mubarak was ousted on February 11. Many protesters now say it is not delivering on promises to change....

And this marks the launch of the glorious islamic republic of Egypt!!

I did have little hope Egypt would resist this islamic terrorism but I guess I was wrong. Seeing Tahrir sq. yesterday with all those jihadists and terrorists, and hearing their chants "Obama .. Obama .. we are all ossama (ben-laden)" I completely lost any hope in this hell hole! I am leaving at the first chance I get, no place for Copts here anymore!

We know who the evil MASTERMIND of all the current Arabic-led Islamic revolution including in Egypt here - the Islamic Nazis of the Arabic-led Muslim Brotherhood, of course! Now, they're pretending to be divisive as in the article here - don't count on it! It's the same in OIL-RICH Malaysia, where the Malaysian agent of the Muslim Brotherhood, Anwar Ibrahim of the Malaysian Opposition PKR (when Anwar was Deputy PM in the ruling BN, he managed to turn the used-to-be modern Malay-Muslims to be more fanatical and Arabic-like - now, 80% of women/girls are wearing the veil , usually forced at school), is trying to gain power in Malaysia and support from naive Western fools, by holding demonstrations under the false guise of fighting corruption and so on, with its partners, the thuggish Iranian Mullah-like Malay-Muslim extremist party, PAS, and the Chinese-dominated Communist/Maoist-loving party DAP!

Islam empowers the most political and most ruthless members of any group.

But the Brotherhood is home to a broad range of views......

Yes, as 'broad' as the straitjacket of Al Qur'an.

Liberal groups fear the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's best organized group, and other Islamists will dominate the vote.

This was predictable...Also predictable is Rasool Obama as an enabler...While he is threatening old people with their SS checks because there is no money, there is plenty of money to sent to Islamic despots...

Same old, Same old, Same old story. What starts out good, as in the Arab spring, eventually morphs into brutal repression of human rights, because behind everything in muslim lands is SHARIA law. And behind Sharia law is the the koran and Mohammed (the evil one), and behind Mohammed and his koran and hadiths is Satan, the murderer, liar and thief!

"followers of the strict Salafist interpretation of Islam"

So, why doesn't the article refer to them as 'extremists'?

Alas, Robert Spencer was right. Sigh.

What is the feasibility of setting up a Coptic Homeland in Egypt? Some of the questions that must be answered:

Do the Copts have the political will to resist? Can a homeland region be defined that will provide them with sufficient resources to be self-sustaining and geographically positioned to be defended? Can the awareness of the outside world be made aware of their situation? Are there regional alliances that they can form in order to protect their rights?

These questions may seem pointless when we're having a difficult enough time in the West defending Free Speech. But the fact is very simply is that Islam is attempting to push forward everywhere. There are no places left today in which Islam is not pressing its agenda. Non-Moslems must stand their ground and come to the aid of non-Moslems who are standing their ground. Their is no alternative worthy of a human being.

Spot on duh_swami! Wow, this is the Islamic 'revolution' that Caliph Hussein Obama, that suspected Muslim Brotherhood Trojan horse into the White House, loves so much! Hussein must have known this would happen - but of course, what to expect, from this Israel-hater! We can expect such deceitful and cunning betrayal; more and more especially if Caliph Hussein Obama wins in 2012! Why double-tongue Hussein is so dangerous for the US/Western world/Judeo-Christian civilization; he is a suspected Muslim Brotherhood Trojan horse into the White House! Obama and the Muslim Brotherhood

Mark Silverberg 17 May 2011

Obama….has already picked the “moderate” Muslim Brotherhood as his partner for promoting American interests in the Arab world in place of their ousted rulers. He will discover shortly that you can pet a scorpion but you cannot change its nature.

His determination to pursue this folly comes as no surprise given the recent Wikileak stating that his Administration had worked covertly with the Muslim Brotherhood for some time to bring down the Mubarak government long before the so-called “Arab Spring” of 2011. Within days of demonstrations erupting in Tahrir Square and elsewhere in Egypt, President Obama was calling for his Egyptian counterpart’s immediate removal from power - the sort of statement he has effectively refrained from making either in Iran or Syria, where demonstrations have gone on longer, and have been considerably bloodier….his fundamental misunderstanding of the tribal and religious nature of Arab societies, the extent to which political Islam prohibits resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the dangers inherent in establishing alliances with radical Islamists whose sole raison d’etre is the establishment of Sharia throughout the Middle East and the destruction of American interests and influence in the region - most notably Israel……

Egypt has only one real industry: Tourism. An industry that is practically dead right now with no hope of recovery soon.

Can you imagine the reaction by American women when told that if they want to go to Egypt they will have to don a hajib and veil? In fact they will have to be covered by a thick black blanket over them. How fast will the tourism death knell ring?

How quickly the Arab spring has given way to the Sharia winter.

Robert was right, but that is small consolation. He is also right about the drift toward Islamism in Turkey. But that will also be of small consolation when it goes fully Shariah compliant and proclaims itself an official enemy of Israel, as seems likely.

Time to stop wringing our hands about what now seems to be increasingly inevitable, an Islamist takeover of most of the Middle East (Israel being a possible exception), with all the horror that portends for women and religious minorities in those countries, and including ramped up hostilities (possibly involving nuclear threats) toward Israel and the rest of the the world.

What is needed most now is to put on our thinking caps, project into the future, and find ways to isolate and contain Islamic despotism to the ME, to halt its further encroachment into the West, including stopping further immigration of unassimilables from Islamic cultures, and to uproot and destroy the Shariah plants that have already started to sprout in some places in the West. It should be possible to outsmart the bastards (I include in this term the Quislings in the West who are enabling the Islamists, whether knowingly or unwittingly), so instead of wailing on and on about it, let's get cracking on finding a solution to the problem. Our future depends on it.

Islamist-controlled countries may end up controlling a large part of the world's oil, but they can't even get it out of the ground without Western support, much less eat it. Our strong suits are brains and technology. We used them to halt Islam in its tracks before. Let's put them to use again.

HOW THE WEST THINK?

Who is the hell that one who is calling the Muslim Brotherhood is moderate.Does he live in our world or not? Pay a careful attention the way they speak about themselves in the west is totally different than the true one in the east.
Anyway, one can read about their satanic ideas in their Imam's book like Sayyid Qutb best seller Ma'alim fi al-Tariq (signs on the way) and best as well in making you a terrorist .one of Sayyid students was Ayman Zawahiri. You can read hundreds of their books, articles and comments. Its not much time until you realize that you read the books of Satan and the Lord of Violence.I am not go forward to remind you of all the terrorist acts they did in my country Egypt.and how many people died and assassinated because every one can search it So WHY Mr.Obama call these people moderate?...I do not know.

I would like to give you one more point of view why my country is doomed to these Satanic Spirits. Its not much due to the choice of our people, our people wants a civilian country with no more islam. Its the choice of our Army who wants theses Satanic Spirits in our Parliament and presidency to cover up its 30 years of its crimes of all kinds of embezzlement.and the Islamists are happy to do this job.
so the Army freed them from our prisons (cuz its time to change) preparing them for taking over our parliament. Who could to say no to the Army now..?

most people do indeed and they faced by killing and no hope...its up to someone to HELP the liberal Egyptians IN THIS SPECIFIC MOMENT to put stress on the Army to change its plan, not to send millions to it or face more Jihadists made out by your money.

Gamal, you are obviously Egyptian, and seem profoundly troubled by your nation's future. Can we learn more about your background? Are you a Copt? What is your story?

You said:

"What is the feasibility of setting up a Coptic Homeland in Egypt?"

Had Israel not been strong-armed into giving up the Sinai, perhaps a deal could have been done with Israel to make **Sinai** a Coptic homeland and eminently defensible fortress, Nova Aegyptia, in a symbiotic mutual-defense "I watch your back you watch mine" "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" relationship with Israel, with revenue from the Suez Canal, oil, fishing, tourism and religious pilgrimage (the incredibly ancient and historic St Catherine Monastery where the Codex Sinaiticus was discovered). And an American base...

Imagine a Christian nation, 8 to 10 million strong, holding the east bank of the Suez and making that passage just that bit safer for Infidel commerce. Imagine all the violent, sullen Mohammedans - the slaving, raping, hostage-taking, thieving Beduin and the Gazans - booted out into Egypt and all the Copts (hard-working, peaceful, eminently educable, willing to learn and work) taking their places.

Unlikely to happen. But we can dream. Mohammedans do it all the time, let's us Infidels do it too.

In the meantime, how on earth do we persuade our governments to give practical - and , if necessary, military - support to South Sudan so they can cobble together a halfway decent Christian commonwealth and resist the Jihad? Let's not forget Timor Lorosae, either, another dirt-poor (but oil and gas possessing) little Christian-majority nation dragged free from the iron claws of the Empire of Islam. [PS - East Timor grows some of the best coffee in the world; strike a blow against the jihad by buying coffee from East Timor, it's sold by groups like the Fair Trade people].
