Feds want to cut prison sentence of Hamas-linked one-time leading U.S. moderate Muslim

Abdurahman Alamoudi was once a power broker in Washington, and the leading "moderate Muslim" in the country. He was also an avowed supporter of the jihad terror groups Hamas and Hizballah. Here is background from a 2004 article by Daniel Pipes:

In 2002, the spokesman for FBI director Robert Mueller memorably described the American Muslim Council (AMC) as the “the most mainstream Muslim group in the United States.” A year later, the Catholic bishops called the AMC “the premier, mainstream Muslim group in Washington.”

Its founder and long-time chief, Abdurahman Alamoudi, was a Washington fixture. He had many meetings with both Clintons in the White House and once joined George W. Bush at a prayer service. He arranged a Ramadan fast-breaking dinner for congressional leaders. He six times lectured abroad for the State Department and founded an organization to provide Muslim chaplains for the Department of Defense. One of his former AMC employees, Faisal Gill, serves as policy director at the Department of Homeland Security’s intelligence division.

In brief, as the Washington Post describes him, Alamoudi was “a pillar of the local Muslim community.”

But the one-time high-flyer last week signed a plea agreement with the U.S. government admitting his multiple crimes in return for a reduced sentence. His confession makes for startling reading.

Alamoudi acknowledges having obtained money from the Libyan government and other foreign sources, “unlawfully, knowingly, and willfully falsified, concealed and covered up by a trick, scheme and device.” He transmitted these funds to the United States, “outside of the knowledge of the United States government and without attracting the attention of law enforcement and regulatory authorities.”

In doing so, he engaged in illegal financial transactions and filed false tax returns. He lied about his overseas travels, his interest in a Swiss bank account, his affiliation with a Specially Designated Terrorist (the Hamas leader, Mousa Abu Marzook), and his membership in terrorist-related organizations. [...]

Then there is the fact that Alamoudi’s Palm Pilot, seized at the time of his arrest, contained contact information for seven men designated as global terrorists by U.S. authorities. Also, law enforcement found an unsigned Arabic-language document in Alamoudi’s office with ideas for Hamas to undertake “operations against the Israelis to delay the peace process.” And Alamoudi has at least indirect links to Osama bin Laden through the Taibah International Aid Association, a U.S. non-profit where he served along with Abdullah A. bin Laden, Osama’s nephew....

And now federal prosecutors want to cut his sentence.

"AP Exclusive: US seeks to cut prison term for man who worked assassination plot with Libyans," from the Associated Press, July 8 (thanks to Kenneth):

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to cut the 23-year prison term being served by an American Muslim activist who admitted participation in a Libyan plot to assassinate King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

Fifty-nine-year-old Abdurahman Alamoudi of Falls Church has been in jail since his arrest in September 2003. He pleaded guilty to illegal business dealings with Libya and admitted receiving more than $500,000 in cash from Libyan officials as part of an assassination plot.

According to court records, Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi wanted then-Prince Abdullah killed after a 2003 Arab League summit where Gadhafi felt he had been insulted....

"According to court records, Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi wanted then-Prince Abdullah killed after a 2003 Arab League summit where Gadhafi felt he had been insulted...."

Up to now, I saw no reason whatsoever that our military had become involved with the Libyan uprising.

But, after reading that Gadhafi tried to assassinate King Abdullah, it stands to reason that Saudi Arabia would support a rebellion against Gadhafi.

I don't think Saudi Arabia dictates our policy, but I think it influences our policy heavily. Plus, it is known to contribute large amounts to the Presidential Libraries and other causes of ex-Presidents.

The influence of Saudi Arabia is not limited to Obama. Presidents Clinton and both Bushes enjoyed very close relationships with the Saudis.

Note: this is entirely speculative, but so far, is the only reasonable explanation I've seen for our involvement in Libya.

Ahmad Wali Karzai, brother of Afghan president, assassinated

Ahmad Wali Karzai, the controversial half-brother of the Afghan president, has been shot dead in his own home in what Taliban insurgents have claimed is one of their greatest achievements.

They could cut his prison sentence by executing him! Allah is kind, Allah is merciful. :))

Hummmm. In Denmark too we have some present and former politicians of importance who come positively rushing whenever a Muslim has stubbed his toe ...or imagines himself or Islam offended. It is quite obvious that these present and former have loyalties that not necessarily lie 100% with the Danish nation only, to the extent I wonder how much influence it has had on Danish foreign policies.

I am not at all upset with a reduced prison sentence, provided it comes with expulsion from the US of Mr. Almoudi and ALL relatives to the second degree.

Compare Pipes' exposée to the article detailing the "crime."

The AP has a beautiful way of relegating these jihadists to just crazy ol' assassins, bent on the disposition of an individual, rather than any kind of grand scheme, to, oh, I don't know, destroy the West's house from within.

If I were the average New Yorker or Oregonian, my eyes would glaze right over this crazy lone assassin guy, gathering money illegally from terrorist nations for the sole purpose of offing the bad guy that Obama's trying to get gone anyway.

See? No problem. No global jihad here.

Second point: Anybody see anything wrong with this sentence?

"One of his former AMC employees, Faisal Gill, serves as policy director at the Department of Homeland Security’s intelligence division."

((bangs head on keyboard))

"One of his former AMC employees, Faisal Gill, serves as policy director at the Department of Homeland Security’s intelligence division."

Erm ...I'm sure I don't know? Spelling, punctuation?
Ah, I have it: shouldn't it be "Policy Director" writ large?

I just don't get it. If these hiring bureaucrats want to be masochists on their own time, fine by me. But please leave the rest of us out of it.

hmmmmm....Alamoudi from Falls Church VA.?...The Muslims in Falls Church, VA. tend to be a hostile bunch...and Falls Church, VA.. is home to one of the "Islambergs"

"Jamaat ul-Fuqra, a terrorist organization with headquarters in Pakistan, has established over 45 compounds in rural areas throughout America. The compounds are providing paramilitary training to new recruits for the great jihad against the USA under the not-so-watchful eye of federal law enforcement officials. Most of the recruits are African Americans who converted to Islam while doing hard time in federal prison.

These compounds, which contain firing ranges and obstacle courses, are located at such places as Hancock, New York; Hyattsville, Maryland; Falls Church, Virginia; York, South Carolina; Dover, Tennessee; Buena Vista, Colorado; Talihina, Oklahoma; Tulane Country, California; and Squaw Valley, California. Multiple compounds have been established on the rural outskirts of Macon, Georgia and Red House, Virginia. Several of these sites contain landing strips and elaborate networks of underground bunkers. The group has also set up basic training camps throughout Canada, including two near Toronto.
"

If Alamoudi is a Muslim leader from Falls Church, Va...he just may be a cog in the Islamic wheel of deceit.

You got it, Sgt Brown. Falls Church, VA is along the what we jihad fighters up here refr to as the Wahhabi Corridor, otherwise known as Rt. 7 (or Leesburg Pike.) It is home to the famous Dar al Hijra mosque, yes, that same mosque that spit out Anwar Al-Alawki and where a few of the 9-11 plane slammers and Maj. Nidal Hasan from Ft. Hood worshipped when they were up here in Northern Virginia. Nasty, nasty, nasty.

Oh, and don't forget about Mohammad Al Hanooti, former Imam at Dar al hijra. Al-Hanooti was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Someone mentions "Jamaat ul-Fuqra." In 1999, members were convicted after they were caught plotting to blow up a Hindu Temple, north of Toronto. Had they been successful, 2,000 innocent people would have been murdered. Canadian cell members receive social assistance even though they don't look for work and breed like flies. They rake in under-the-table money from saudi sources, which they use for quran indoctrination and weapons training. In the US, the Bush regime worked on a don't-ask-don't-tell basis - viz their terror ideology. Prior to 9-11, I saved numerous pages of their "muslims of the americas" website, which included instructions in "sleeper cell" activity, weapons training and incorporated the "protocols of the elders of zion" into their curriculum. The saudi connection led Bush to shield them from justice.

Whats da problem? This "devote Muslim" just proved he is a GOOD Muslim. Can't ya practice your religion in America by planing to kill Christians, Jews and Hindus? LOL!

Stephen, do election laws in Denmark require politicians who run for election to state their religious affiliation?

If yes, do you happen to know if a fraudulent claim would be an indictable offense?

It seems to me if some of these politicians have converted to Islam, but are hiding it, they should be charged if the law allows it.

It would be nice to get a handle on how much damage originates from Political Correctness and misguided Multiculturalism and how much originates from borderline treason.

I'm late again. Can't really say more on the topic. However, since we're in silly-world anyway, I'm waiting for the court case in which, the very existence of kafirs anywhere in the US, will make it impossible for a mooselip to freely exercise it's religion, since the existence of kafirs is an insult to allah. Us living will eventually violate their constitutional rights. Wait and see........

It may not be necessary to violate any constitutional rights at all rb. Violating any constitutional right, even for a cause you think is good, is a very bad precedent. Sooner or later it will lead to tragedy.

The answer may be to pass legislation that defines Islam as a political ideology rather than a religion. Now the balance of power reverts back to the people and their proxies (government and courts). That will make it possible to accomplish what I think you are considering, without having to turn a blind eye to the US Constitution.

I did post something along these lines at http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/07/stoning-is-not-just-stoning-its-allahs-revenge.html

That was only a suggestion. You may be able to improve on it. Actually, I hope you can.

The important thing is not to sully the honour of the US Constitution by savaging its hard won precepts.

If ever Americans do that, then they will have turned one of History's greatest political/philosophical documents into a mere piece of paper.
