Hizballah's head honcho Nasrallah: Arrests of members indicted in Hariri assassination will never happen

Unfortunately, for as long as Hizballah's country-within-a-country with its own standing army has gone unchallenged in Lebanon and allowed to become ever more entrenched in society and government, there may indeed not be the political will in Lebanon to hold the group accountable.

An update on this story. "Hezbollah leader rejects Hariri court indictments," by Dominic Evans for Reuters, July 2 (thanks to all who sent this in):

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said on Saturday that authorities would never arrest members of the Shi'ite militant group indicted by a U.N.-backed tribunal seeking the killers of statesman Rafik al-Hariri.
In his first comments since the indictments were handed to the state prosecutor on Thursday, Nasrallah dismissed the accusations as unfounded and a failed attempt to sow strife and bring down Lebanon's new Hezbollah-backed government.

He cares about not bringing down this government, unlike the one Hizballah toppled in February to create a diversion from the Hariri case. At that time, Hizballah even staged "coup drills" aimed at intimidating any potential challengers.

The tribunal has not named the suspects but Lebanese officials said they included Mustafa Badreddine, a senior member of the movement and brother-in-law of slain Hezbollah commander Imad Moughniyeh, and three other members of the group.
"They cannot find them or arrest them in 30 days or 60 days, or in a year, two years, 30 years or 300 years," Nasrallah said. Under the court proceedings, Lebanese officials have 30 days to make arrests after receiving indictments.

And Hizballah maintains Israel did it anyway.

Hezbollah, both a Shi'ite Muslim political movement and guerrilla army, denies any role in the huge explosion on the Beirut seafront which killed Hariri, a Sunni Muslim who served several terms as prime minister, and 22 others in February 2005....

Won't hand them over, eh? OK, just assassinate them. We know they're guilty.

I bet the Christian Lebanese are thankfull they brought in thousands upon thousands of Palestininans after Jordan slaughtered 10,000 in what, 1972? Worked out well for them. We need to up our ever increasing influx of LEGAL Muslims into the US. The Somalians are workin out SO WELL. LOL!

The Lebanese are hostages to Hezbollah - poor bastards, and can't or don't have the balls to do anything about it. They suffer that hostage syndrome or plain lethargy. You, the Lebanese who value human rights and freedom have kissed it godbye (sic) by allowing Hezbollah to arm themselves and stand over the good citizens of Lebanon. No matter how many lives it takes to regain your independence from these thugs - it is worth it. I say, fight them and destroy them before they bring about mayhem that will invariably destroy you anyway. God does not run your country - you do! Get off you wimpy arses and stand on your own two feet and get rid of these religious nutters. No democracy in the world has flourished with such venomous vitriolic religious fanatics that you have governing your country.
You are a sorry lot in Lebanon for allowing this minority to rule - you got what deserve. Wimps!

"God does not run your country - you do! "

gratitude,

I agree with you. I have very mixed feelings about a country adhering to international tribunals, like the UN tribunal. On the whole, the International Court in the Hague has been a very negative influence for world freedom, as has the UN. Generally, a country ought to prosecute criminals and assassins under its own laws. The Lebanese should take back their country from Hizbollah and the jihadists, but not through the UN. If I were them, I would not turn over the assassins to the UN, but would try them myself. Farming out your justice system to an outside interest has never worked, and never will.

Typical Islamic hyperbole, exaggeration, false bravado, disconnect reality, cognitive dissonance, arrogant posturing, and that ever present venomous threat of violence welling beneath the surface. In a word, they're cornered.

What waste of humanity. Time to put them down, or else? The Lebanization of Europe? Better put them down.

Many rich and intellectual Lebanese Christians are devoted Arabists & leftists. The Arab nationalist Christians joined the Muslims and were some of their most successful fighters. The Muslims finally turned on them when they did not need them and the survivors fled to shelter with their former enemies in the Maronite section of Beirut.

Those leftist traitors will never learn until they have a blade sawing at their throat.
