Although I share the sentiment that Israel has nothing to apologize for, I think the current issue is more subtle. Israel had very significant strategic military cooperation with Turkey, relationships that they would very much like to continue. (Including very lucrative arm sales contracts.) I think this current move, if it goes forward, should be seen as a calculated political move by Israel to get back to the pre-Foltiia relationship at the lowest cost. Now, like many, I question the wisdom of dealing with the current government in Turkey, but the Israelis are going forward with the eyes open and with no illusions about an Islamist government.

The Israelis are very compassionate people. We ought to bear in mind that what brought the current Turkish push for aplology is the pending release of a UN report on the flotilla incident that found, amongst other thing, that Israel action was LEGAL under International Law.
The Turks want this finding removed from the report because it demolishes their intenal propaganda in showing that Turkey was complicit in breaking International Law -- the renewed calls for an apology is a smoke screen; their real aim is to "prove" to their people that Israel acted illegally.
Further, it is wrong to think that the relations between Israel and Turkey deteriorted solely because of the flotilla incident, albeit that incident gave the Turks a pretext for the current crisis. The relations between the two countries have been deteriorating grandually since 2003 when Edrogan came to power. Edrogan has been moving Turkey from a compmlete secular state towards becoming an Islamic republic from day one to the detriment of the relations with the West (USA, NATO, EU etc) as well as Israel.
Only a fool or a naive would believe that an Israeli apology would undo 8 years of deliberate damage by Edrogan to the relation; it may create a lull but I am certain that it would not take long before Edrogan find another tree to climb vis-a-vis Israel.
