The courageous Coptic Christian activist Joseph Nasralla, who gave a riveting speech at our 9/11 Rally of Remembrance at Ground Zero last year, and Steve Klein of Concerned Citizens for the First Amendment are leading a demonstration on Friday, July 29, here in downtown Los Angeles, asking the Los Angeles county board of supervisors to fire the compromised and clueless Sheriff Lee Baca. Here is their announcement:

I don't believe this is a ruse on Sheriff Lee Baca's part, ala sux, or that he understands that supporting CAIR is supporting suicide bombers or the murders of Gays. Does Sheriff Baca want the imposition of Shari'ah law? My guess is that he only has the vaguest idea of what that would even mean.
I believe Sheriff Baca—like so many other clueless elected officials, considers CAIR just another "civil rights" group, and understands that offering his support will win him votes.
Am I making excuses for Sheriff Baca? *Hell no*. This sort of facile idiocy is bad enough on the part of *any* elected official-that he is sworn to protect the people of Los Angeles makes it even worse.
I *wish* it were just Sheriff Baca making this dangerous mistake—but even at this point, a lot of people assume CAIR is basically the NAACP for "Arabs", and act accordingly.
Hopefully, campaigns like this one from Joseph Nasralla will lead Baca to understand that supporting CAIR is hardly a no-brainer. Even if he doesn't care about what CAIR is and what its aims are, perhaps he will come to understand that supporting this vile organization will *not* be politically savvy for him.

Qudos to Mr. Klein and Mr. Nasralla for exposing a publicly elected official who for years has been "friendly" to Muslim Brotherhood linked organizations. I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, you have liberals who would stifle our free speech by calling it hate speech whenever we speak about the religion of peace. But with people like the Sheriff, it's only a matter of time that he will get caught screwing something up, or showing support to his Islamic brethren on company time, which may be grounds for dismissal.
