Lebanon blocks U.N. Security Council condemnation of attack that killed eight Israelis

WASHINGTON – Murder of Israelis permitted? Lebanon, which is currently a member of the United Nations Security Council, prevented early Saturday a condemnation of the recent terror offensive in southern Israel.

Israel’s UN Ambassador Ron Prosor expressed his disappointment with Beirut’s move, noting that Lebanon is itself “a state controlled by a terrorist organization.”

The UN envoy said that the latest fiasco proved that the UN has become “blind and deaf” when it comes to condemning terror attacks against Israeli citizens.

"Deaf, dumb, and blind," if you will.

“The Security Council’s silence is deafening,” Prosor said.

Lebanon demands 'balance'

A draft proposal for a presidential statement was distributed to the Security Council’s 15 members Thursday. The United States, Europe and India vigorously supported a harsh UN denunciation of the murderous attack in Israel, yet the Arab representative in the Council, Lebanon, announced Friday that it will endorse such censure only if it is “balanced” with a condemnation of Israel’s retaliatory strikes in the Gaza Strip.

Europe, the US and Israel rejected the Lebanese equation, in essence burying the condemnation and demonstrating yet again that the UN is unable to address some of the most vital issues on its agenda.

Referring to the UN failure to condemn the terror offensive, Ambassador Prosor said that “we are dealing with a blatantly clear terror attack against innocent Israeli civilians.”

“The UN secretary general condemned it, the Americans condemned it, the European Union condemned it, yet the bottom line is that the Security Council again failed as a body,” he said. “Every time an issue pertains to Israel, we see deafening silence. They become blind and deaf.”

'Israel commits war crimes'

While the UN refrained from condemning Thursday’s string of terror attacks in Israel, which left eight people dead, Palestinian spokesmen were quick to issue scathing condemnations of Israel’s retaliatory operations in the Gaza Strip.

On Friday, Senior Fatah official Nabil Shaath accused Israel of committing war crimes in the Strip and seeking to escalate regional tensions....

Let's see, the European Union refuses to characterize Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, and the United Nations has seated Lebanon on the Security Council. If it weren't so out in the open, I'd call it an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.

today, when another 'nation' is born every tuesday and thursday, and there is a defacto musloid bloc of some 52 nations.....the agenda is so slanted that it is not worth wasting time to try to make a point.

israel must remove itself from this gang of hypocrites and likewise, every other nation that still has some honour left and not just 'interests'.

Why are Muslim states even permitted to express any opinion, let alone granted membership, in the United Nations - in any capacity? The Islamic block shares none of the core values of what the U.N. was intended to be - an international congregation of nation that - for the most part - espoused a general respect for individuals and protected human rights. Permitting Muslim nations to participate is shameful.

Ikeevy1, you ask that the UN be defunded. Well, my friend, it's gonna happen! Europe is effectively bankrupt. Only Germany is financially viable and Switzerland is not even in the EU. Every other country, "Britain" included, is in the deepest shit imaginable.

The US is also effectively bankrupt. Obama can't get no mo' money, because there ain't no mo! A financial crisis of EPIC proportions is heading our way, and it is going to absolutely decimate world markets - and oil consumption. Any kind of support for the UN, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, the Middle East, North Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia and, indeed, anywhere that Islam dominates, is going to dry up. Many of these countries will then simply implode. It is an inevitable consequence of Islam. Remember, Islam has never been at its strongest in the Arab world (until the West discovered and utilized oil). First, Persia. Then Turkey. With splashes from the Nile thrown in... Now? Money. Oil money. Corruption. The OIC might fund the UN for a little while, but the Muslim world is greedier than most, and hugely vain. Hey! A gold-plated Audi??? Massive hotels that lie empty??? So why pay for pretense? For a toothless tiger? Islam wants war. Islam has declared war. Islam thinks it can win the war. But so did Hitler. Things are going to get very interesting, indeed...

Xavier, simple, the 10 non-permanent members of the Securirty Council are elected by gerorgraphical block key; that is: Africa 3, Asia,2 Eastern europe 1, Latin America 2, Western Europe and Others 2 PROVIDED THAT, THERE IS ALWAYS ONE ARAB COUNTRY from either the Asian or the African group (alternating between them).

This means that when Lebanon term is finished (this year) another ARAB country, this time from the African Block, will be elected to the SC.

Here's a true story. Ask ANY salesman who they hate to deal with and they'll say arabs and jews because they're cheap. But that's not the case at all!

Arabs are so effing stupid, they will pay MORE for a product that their neighbor got just to show that they COULD.

If you know ANY sales rep that can't seem to close an arab, ALL they have to do is tell them "I'm not going to show you the XYZ.. it's just a little out of your budget"
