Robert Spencer remains calm and unruffled. Zayed is the opposite. Zayed got agitated, was clearly rattled, and on the defensive. He began to talk loudly and very quickly. He appeared to be scrambling, as every stroke he delivered as a hoped-for coup de grace was answered just the same, and his every evasion was called out, such as fixating on short phrases that were not ultimately at issue to run out the clock (avoiding "hath made one to excel the other" in Qur'an 4:34 by focusing on "man is the protector of woman," and avoiding "caused me pain," in Sahih Muslim 4.2127, to make his claim that Aisha said Muhammad pushed her instead of striking her).
As the debate went on, that pattern continued, and the attacks got more personal, and the shots got cheaper against Spencer and his readers, until that was all that was left by the end before the call-in section commenced. Zayed apparently had no recourse at that point except to go completely off-topic into personal attacks.
To illustrate the point further, CNN recently carried this story from RealSimple that interviewed a few experts on the physical signs of lying, and Zayed appears to have hit a number of them:

A person proclaims his honesty repeatedly
Even if he did not use the same phraseology, Zayed invoked his own authority in this manner:
To sell us on the integrity of their answers, liars often use phrases emphasizing the validity of their statements, like "to tell the truth" and "to be perfectly honest." These verbal tip-offs frequently invoke religion. Think of expressions like "I swear on a stack of Bibles" and "as God is my witness." Most truthful people don't need to go that far.

I didn't have a chance to see the debate, but it sounds like another solid home run for Spencer.
And we all know what comes next for many Muslims after the tics reported above when a debate is going poorly for them, when things move beyond even the ad hominem attacks—increasing bellicosity and even, at times, outright threats.
Of course, no debater with truth on their side need ever resort to such tactics...

I remember when I sent a DVD to anti-CAIR that was from a TV coverage of islamophobia in Canada. The portion of the coverage I bought was when Dr.Sheema khan from CAIR-canada had swore on a Qran to tell the truth and then lied like a prayer-rug via Taqqiyah to fool the Justice heading the Inquiry.
Khan loved the freedom to spew her lies about how evil canada was and how 40'000 muslims suffered racial-profiling or Anti-Muslim treatment by the Police or RCMP.

Sheema Khan started to squirm and studder as the questions got tougher about the "Survey", in the end she finally had to tell the truth that CAIR's 40'000 Victims were faked. CAIR used the email address book to request muslims to complain about even the feeling of islamophobia, or to report 3rd party allegations of Racial-profiling.
Khan even defended 2 Muslims illegally in canada on fake ID with expired student Visas, when the evidence was shown to her that these two muslims were spotted scouting a Nuclear Plants cool-water intake ducts, and taking Flying lesson at a school that flew near the Power plant...Con-job Khan said the "Lots of people go to the beach and take flying lessons" , it's not the students fault the School flies by the Power plant. But these model Muslims had schematics of passenger planes taped to the walls of their apartment , they had a cockpit mock-up from boxes with fake control levers.
That Islamophobia survey ended up being exposed as a fraud because it was on 600 people that reposnded, almost 50% were non-citizens on University campuses tell 3rd party anicdotal tales of a friend of a friend,many people were allowed to be anonymous , and many were never followed-up on to verify the anti-Muslim hatred in canada.

To illustrate my point, Spencer is hitting with a corked bat. Yes, in these times of insinuations, allegations and potential investigations... I put Spencer in the same mold as Sammy Sosa. But he's using a different kinda cork.
I watched it live. Did Zayed have the gall to say that "Mary is a great Muslim woman," or something along that line? It could be that I didn't hear him clearly.
Another of the many points that bothered me was his certainty that there are 1.6 billion Muslims and that Islam is the fastest growing religion. This is widely reported to be false. A general search will lead to reports that more Muslims are leaving Islam than joining. For instance, search the statistics for Africa, where Islam has diminished quite considerably.
Where is the evidence for Zayed's claims?
One word best fits Zayed: skullduggery. Robert overwhelmed him, soundly exposing Zayed as another deceitful tool of Islam. But to be frank: I don't know what this is intended to accomplish, other than to restate what we already know. Is a debate of this nature far-reaching? Does it make an impact with the uninformed general public?
I hope so.
But just as we believe in the truths, they believe in the lies. A Muslim is bred to believe in those lies.

It is true that some debates are won by those who simply know how to debate. A weak position can be made to look strong if they are skilled in rhetoric. Apparently Robert's opponent was not.
I have yet to watch this debate, but from everything else I have seen with regards to Robert, I believe that truth is clearly on his side and he certainly is able to communicate and disseminate that information quite effectively.

ANOTHER POINT: Zayed argues that no one could have been certain about Aisha's age; not even Aisha, herself. On the other hand, he speaks with certainty on the prophetism of Mohammed. As I recall and as Zayed would have one believe, Mohammed knew the lowest geographical point on Earth before scientific proof; but Aisha's age is a quandary.
