Islamic jihadists firing rockets at US embassy in Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan — Insurgents launched a complex assault against the United States Embassy and the nearby NATO headquarters on Tuesday, pelting the heavily guarded compounds with rockets in an assault that raised new questions about the security of Afghanistan’s capital and the Westerners working there.
At least 10 explosions — apparently from rockets launched by militants — and waves of automatic weapons fire were reported amid the drone of sirens and English-language warnings telling Americans inside the embassy to take cover.

It was unclear whether anyone — Western or Afghan — had been hurt or killed, but it appeared that one rocket had struck a minibus belonging to the Tak Beer private school, and witnesses said that young adults had been carried away bleeding and apparently unconscious.

Kerri Hannan, a spokeswoman for the American embassy, said that no embassy personnel were injured in the attack.

Afghan officials said several attackers were behind the assault, but it was unclear precisely how many assailants there were or whether they were attacking from a single or multiple locations. The attackers were holed up on several floors of a tall, partially built concrete building that offered a bird’s-eye view of the secured diplomatic and military compounds about a half mile away. Flashes from gun barrels could be seen as the militants fired from their perch. Afghan security forces returned fire from the ground, sending puffs of concrete dust into the air as bullets slapped the building.

“We don’t know how many suicide bombers are in the building,” said Col. Abdul Zahir, of the criminal investigative division of the Kabul police. “They’re shooting at the embassy. We’re still in fighting position. We can’t say anything.”

Two explosions were also reported near the Afghan Parliament, but it was unclear whether militants were specifically trying to attack the government building, or other targets....

Be careful not to retaliate militarily because to do so would be "Islamophobic". Better just to cop the rockets and die like good little dhimmis.

No it doesn't. It just raises the same old question yet again - why are we there? Why are we deluding ourselves that we can "train" their "police" and that they can ever provide security or freedom??

Here's a policy: take every girl in Afghan under 18 and resettle them in the West (the Americas, Europe,(for now)), Japan (??) and give them a chance to have a decent life by being adopted by civilized people (I'd do my share by taking a few). Then just let father time work his magic as the Afghan tribal hate society fades away into the dustbin of history.....

Those 'militants' never stop do they? Does Ron Paul know about this? Ron knows how to put a stop to militant attacks...Get off their lands...Of course no one told Ron about the Quran, and it's declarations of war against anything not Allah compatible...Allah compatibility, Quran compatibility, Mahound compatibility, and sharia compatibility, are all compatible, or one and the same...Allah is the architect, The Quran the blue print, Mahound the Imam, and sharia the mosque...What is produced from the mosques are militants...Lots and lots of militants...Those that don't shoot, riot, fly airplanes into buildings or stab EDL members...Kuffar by their very existence are incompatible with Islam...And must be warred against by 'militants' until the world is empty of kufr (dis-belief in Allah), conversion to Islam, submit to second class dhimmi's, or die...I don't think Ron would convert or be ready to die over it, but he might submit to dhimmihood...He's almost there now...

Ah, its a criminal matter of course. And those pesky insurgents could just as easily have been a pack of crazed baha'is, don'tcha know.

Islam has no capacity for a democratic 'nation state', and will violently resist those who attempt to establish one. Get our personnel out of there -- we're getting them shot at for nothing.

When the US helped Afganistan rid their country of the Russians they wanted to take revenge on the US for pulling out as soon as the Russians did. Now, after all these years of attempting to train their people to protect themselves, we have this. I never thought I'd agree with any extremist point of view, but I agree with them on this point: all US forces should be pulled from out of all the Middle East. Let them have what they want. I'm sick of the ungratefulness Afganistan and Iraq have shown us. Let them eat their own fodder.

No farting in the presence of musloids.

Being careful to not damage any copies of mein kuranmpf even in a combat situation.

Removing boots before entering a suspected insurgent's den.

Not firing on insurgents even if they are planting IEDs.

The current administration has foolishly and seriously impeded our military in Afghanistan with tactics hatched by politicians for political ends. It is no wonder soldiers such as General Mcchrystal hold these "suits" with disregard and contempt.

Nice of them to give warning.

Why not attack kuffars to the regine. The kuffars haven't been fighting back so far. The more we try to appease them the more they think the west is weak and so full of fear that Islam has the upper hand. And perhaps they really do. Think about it. The west can not go much more than 3 weeks without gasoline.

Tanks, jets, ships, trucks and cars all need some sort of fuel.
