In 1947 after WWII and disintegration of the British empire two events took place in near east and south east. These were, creation by the British of:
1) Israel from the arab lands as a place for the jewish people; and
2) Pakistan from the hindu lands as a place for the muslim people.
Secular India accepted the partition of India and creation of islamic pakistan and recognised it as a new nation.
Islamic arabs did not accept the partition of islamic lands and creation of jewish israel and did not recognise israel as a new nation.
In the near east teh islamic scholars wanted the destruction of israel as it was partitioned from islamic lands AND in the south east islamic scholars wanted destruction of India as they did not get the whole of India as an islamic territory.
So in both places islamic army's were fighting to get more muslim land.
Between 1947-1967 Jerusalem was part of Jordan and Gaza was part of Egpyt. There were no liberation movements at that time. Islamic army's attacked ISrael and lost with israel capturing Gaza, judea, samaria and Jerusalem. Ever since they have been asking it back to hand it over to PLO. If Israel has to go back to 1967 than Jordan will get judea and samaria and Egypt will get Gaza thus no need to negotiate with PLO because lands did not belong to PLO at that time.
in 1971 Pakistan army killed over 2 million Bangladeshi muslims and India helped bangladeshi muslims to secure their own country called Bangladesh (prior to 1971 - east pakistan.
In summary: Israel if it has to go back to 1967 than in that event PLO is out and negotiation will be with Jordan and Egypt. Thus no need to talk to PLO.
Since bangladesh and Pakistan are both muslim they can sort it out between themselves.
UN on this basis should reject the PLO application as it was "person non grata" in 1967.
Note to Pat Condell: I know you mean well, but it would really help if we in the West (including Israelis) would stop referring to this as an issue with ‘Arabs.’ ‘Arab’ is an ethnicity. There is nothing inherent to the Arab ethnicity that is causing these problems. There are people who are ethnically Arab, but not Muslim. And guess what? Those non-Muslim, yet ethnically-Arab, people are not the source of these problems -- Muslims are.
Likewise, there are plenty people who are not ethnically Arab, yet are Muslims (such as those that make up the various ethnic groups in Indonesia) that are aggressively waging global jihad. Why? Because they are obedient to the martial dictates of Islam -- an ideology, not an ethnicity.

You are indeed correct in that it is a very sad trend that many ethnically-Arab-yet-non-Muslim people living in Islam-dominated societies choose desperately to cling to the sham rhetoric (and action) of “Arab nationalism” against Israel in the vain hope that it will curry some favour with their Muslim overlords. History shows that it will never work. The Copts are getting butchered by this very thing now. It is a particularly cowardly and/or ignorant tactic, and I call upon all Arab non-Muslims to reject it, and fight back, even if it means their death. It is ugly, but this is war.
I’m simply trying to highlight the importance of not muddying this whole issue with the false notion that it is something “racial” in nature. It is not, and if we allow it to be defined that way, our enemies will win.
Our enemies are winning because we allow them to divide us.
Their propaganda war has been muddying the issues for too long already, and it is not our business to sort them out, let Allah take care of it.

I'll comment, Cromulent, on the NRO story on Jasser. It's sad when conservatives think stupid. One can expect this from modern liberals (not to be confused with pre-1960s liberals like Attlee and Truman), who get most everything wrong, including voting for the "nothing man," Barack Obama, who, get this, doesn't speak "Austrian," or who referred to Marine Corpsmen as "korpsemen," or who, in May of 2008, stunned American veterans in New Mexico by saying that America honors such veterans on Memorial Day, or who called the Nittany Lions the "Nittaly Lions," or who referred to the "57 states," or who spoke about "the bomb dropped on Pearl Harbor" or... But when conservatives go dumb like, such as lauding Zuhdi Jasser in NRO as a non-jihad kind of Muslim, one has to wonder if the West will survive the idiocy of modern times. Tough call. Close call.
As for the Condell video, I'm not going to quibble with his not getting every last damn thing right. He got it right enough. Nailed it, as mike ryan already noted. If the West does no worse than Pat Condell, even with his antipathy towards all religion and not exactly, specifically, focusing everytime on Islam itself as the problem rather than Arabs, the West will still be way ahead of the curve, which it isn't at present.

Learner Hermit, excellent post comparing the situation with Pakistan and Israel, both created (in modern form, in Israel's case) within a year of each other in the late 1940s.
I would take that comparison even further. We find Pakistan—a place with the same legacy of British law as India, sliding inexorably toward chaos and tyranny.
We find Israel—which was a promising country to begin with, although with a bit too much fondness for a retarding sort of utopian socialism. Today, she has largely jettisoned the socialism, and did so at the ballot box and through a thousand small un-coerced decisions, not through violent upheaval.
Israel—with a population smaller than that of the greater metropolitan area I live, just had another one of their citizens awarded a Nobel Prize in the hard sciences, bringing their number to ten. (If one counts Jews around the world, the number is, of course, much, much higher).
Pakistan—despite the fact that its paranoia over India is unwarranted—is a failed state better known for its exportation of violent Jihad than anything else.
Whereas today—despite the constant threat she lives under—Israel is a vibrant democracy.
Compare and contrast...

I should mention, while comparing Pakistan and Israel, that Pakistan *does* have one Nobel Prize.
But physicist Abdus Salam could not be more atypical.
For one thing, he is not a proper Muslim at all, but a "heretical" Ahmadi. He got his education in civilized Britain, and was awarded his prize for his work in theoretical physics, sharing the award with two *American Jews*, Sheldon Glashow and Steven Weinberg.
Of course, the "Palestinian Authority's" one Nobel Prize is more grimly ludicrous. The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the vicious Yassir Arafat in 1994—out of shear hopefulness that he would end the ugly Intifada and take the Oslo Accords seriously.
Obviously, it didn't work, and a few years later he would launch the sanguinary Second Intifada. Fantasy-base "peacemaking"—just as the creation of a "Palestinian State" would be fantasy-based statecraft—or worse, for those who understand the monster they would be creating...

I've taught adult literacy classes for Native Americans, and my father—who lives in rural northern California—has led walking classes and exercise groups on a nearby reservation. The meeting place? A *Methodist church*...
And exactly how would Jihad and Muslim supremacism aid Native Americans? Of course, it would not—it presents the same threat to *all* non-Muslims, including American Indians.

The slaughter you're talking about took place years ago and was not just by Christians but by many of the different people who came to North America for their religious freedom.
You also have to realize that it was not a religious action, but one of conquering land,exactly the same as any other conquering nation at that time. You certainly would not find the attitudes of the 1600's and 1700's in the people of NA today especially among those who are Christians.
There is a much different understanding of the Gospel of Christ than in those days. Still, I would question that Christians were much involved at all. Christians were martyred by the natives in Canada.
North America still pays for those mistakes today and negotiations are ongoing. That is more a matter of political will, on both sides, than anything else.
Tearing down churches won't change anything. Many of the Natives are also Christians., should we tear their churches down too?

Sheik, I worship your work... but I side with Context here. It's an important distinction to make, that of Muslim the ideology, seperate from Arab the ethnicity.
Long before there were Arab Muslims there were Arab Christians. And long LONG before there were Arab Muslims there were Arab Jews and Arab polytheists. These facts must be made common knowledge.
We cannot let our enemies frame this debate in any kind of "racial" or "ethnic" way because it's not the point.
I have ancestors from Scotland to Morocco to the Chinook tribe of the Colombia river-mouth, none of which decide the creed I live by.
