To review: The attack lasted 13 hours. It took appeals and threats of consequences from the highest levels of the U.S. and Israeli governments to get Egypt to act. During much of that time, the military ruler, Field Marshal Tantawi mysteriously "could not be located." At the time that Egyptian authorities finally intervened, the invading mob had smashed through two of three secure doors, leaving only one standing between them and six Israeli security guards.
Despite the magnitude of this international incident, the participants who were arrested face no practical consequences. Behavior that is rewarded is more likely to be repeated.

An Egyptian military court on Monday handed down six-month suspended jail sentences to 73 people accused of involvement in an attack on the Israeli embassy in September, a military source said.
Two other people were acquitted.
The September 9-10 attack on the Israeli embassy in Cairo by a crowd angered by Israel's killing of Egyptian policemen on the border forced the evacuation of staff including ambassador Yitzhak Levanon.
Three people were killed and more than 1,000 wounded, including 300 policemen, in clashes between protesters and security forces outside the embassy.
Crowds smashed through an external security wall, tossed embassy papers from balconies and tore down the Israeli flag.

These people are hate filled savages and don't need an excuse to kill Jews. As is their fanatical government.

Not only for the Israeli Embassy, but what about the Muslims killed and the others injured? These savages apply their law how and when they wish. Suspended because it was Israel and Jews involved. So it's okay to kill and injure other Muslims because they were being good Muslims.
How sick is the head and body of Islam.
Wow, they really let them have it. Kill several people and hurt a whole bunch more and get a suspended six month sentence. That will teach them; to go out and kill again! The world should be watching, and protest such injustice. But not a thing will be said. Message: kill and maim all you want and get away with it. Injustice.
This just shows the face of Arab spring for what it is. Israel must be on guard all the time. Mahmoud Abbas is another Holocaust denier who when studying in Moscow published a Ph.D. thesis blaming Zionists for collaboration with the Nazis, when in fact it is the Arabs like, Amin al Husseyni, the Mufti of Jerusalem who spent WWII egging Hitler on to murder the Jews. Nazis found a home in Cairo and had taught PLO guys the murdering skills and Mufti was a master in deception, murder of his opponents and stealing money from his people, just as Arafat and his cronies, like Mahmoud Abbas are.
The Arab spring is unleashing the jihadists who want to impose their medieval hateful religion on the rest of the world, as the attack on Israeli Embassy in Egypt and murder of Copts and massive run of Christians from the Arab countries demonstrate. Civilized countries who voted to accept West Bank into UNESCO are fools who are ignorant of history and reality there, which was created by Arabs who refused refugees to settle in Arab countries which had expelled even larger number of Jews in 1948-1967. While in all other cases in the world, the refugees were settled, in the case of Arabs from Israel the UN had supported perpetual refugees up to 5 generations, which is absurd since keeping people on the dole just promotes despair and ignorance.

Next time something like this occurs, they probably will never make it to court at all, or even be arrested. We are witnessing the last few remnants of law and order in Egypt.
"Law and order" in the civilized sense, that is. "Law and order" in the Shari'ah sense would not count the savaging of the Israeli embassy a crime at all...
