Australia: Supermarkets still selling unlabeled halal meat

Though I’m not a bog meat eater, it's against my principals to eat tortured meat whether halal or kosher. People should sue the manufacturers for making them eat it. No non muslims should be forced to live according to any sharia rule.

Isn't there something in the Bible about Jews and Christians being forbidden to eat meat that has been sacrificed to an idol or false god?

I asked a Danish chicken producer for a guarantee that chickens not labeled Halal were in fact Haram.
I sent my request to Customer Service, I asked them twice, and they didn't take the trouble to send a reply.

It's nothing to do with whether the halal meat will do you harm or not, you clown! It's simply that non-Muslims don't want to be tricked into eating halal meat. It's more scamming from a so-called religion that was founded by a liar.

Kosher and halal meat producers in Australia both rely on exemptions from animal cruelty leglislation. I will not buy any kosher or halal meat products.

Modern western countries can write better laws regarding animals than those we find written by a stone age "God".

Big Difference here: No one is passing off kosher products as anything but kosher products. All products that are kosher are plainly labeled as such, and are not passed off as anything but kosher. If you don't wish to buy the item, then don't.

Some people take issue with paying for a product which is other than what its labeling implies.

Honesty in advertising is a rule that applies here, don't you think?

I've sent enquiries to both Coles and Woolworths to have them explain their policy in regard to halal, letting them know I would be getting all my meat elsewhere, failing a satisfactory answer.

MP Luke Simpkins has been doing his homework.

In 2009 he gave a speech in Parliament in which he discussed the apostasy law of Islam, and expressed strong and reasoned disapproval of same.

This speech about halal was, I think, given in connection with his presentation to Parliament of a petition for which Barnabas Fund members have been gathering signatures.

Here is the text of the petition, which has been presented to Parliament in Australia and also in the UK and other English-speaking countries.

"I hereby register my support for the Operation Nehemiah halal campaign.
"I support the freedom of religious groups to access food and other products that meet the requirements of their faith.

"I am however concerned about the massive growth of sharia-compliant products for everyone whatever their faith, often without consumers, parents of school children and others being informed or consulted.

"I do not want to pay for halal products when a proportion of my money will go to an Islamic agency for halal certification

"I am concerned about non-labelling of halal foods and products and call upon government agencies and the food industry to label halal products clearly.

"I am concerned about the lack of informed choice for consumers in supermarkets, restaurants etc and call upon the food industry to ensure that halal does not become the general default option in non-Muslim countries".

That is what would have been in the petition presented to the Australian parliament.

The petition does not deal with the animal cruelty issue.

What Barnabas Fund focuses on is 1. the 'Islamisation by stealth' aspect, whereby an element of sharia - halal slaughter - becomes the unlabelled norm or default, thus removing the customer's right to choose, and 2. the fact that *certifying something as halal* becomes a nice little earner for the Muslims who do the certifying (especially since it seemingly isn't a one-off thing). I don't know what the Muslim 'certifiers' get paid, but some of what they *do* get paid would end up as zakat...and who knows where that might end up? paying for dawah or even for outright combat Jihad. Further: the cost of getting the halal certification would factor into the cost of production, and so the infidel consumer pays just that little bit more...a hidden tax, so to speak, exacted by the Ummah.

I would add that if halal becomes the *norm* - if, for example, the big supermarket chains end up *only* buying and stocking halal meat - then the door is open for Muslims to end up *controlling* all non-pork meat processing.

Good on West Australian Federal MP Luke Simpkins; I will be sending him a brief note of thanks for being prepared to take a stand and ask uncomfortable questions in public.

When you eat Halal meat you are participating in animal sacrafice.

When cutting the necks of animals butchers have to say "in the name of allah the greatest." It is unclear if it is the death of the animal or the killing of the animal that is done in the name of their god but the causing of the death of an animal in the name of a diety is unquesionably animal sacrafice.

There is no possible way to spin away from this fundamental truth without ignoring the actual words that are commmanded to be said or adding implications that just aren't there at all. All talk of context is merely fanciful extrapolation. It IS animal sacrafice. If you eat halal meat you are participating in animal sacrafice.

I know it sounds like full on Alex Jones level insanity but look at the primary elements of the act without adding anything that isn't there and tell me I'm wrong.

And the fact that the same the exact words "allahu akbar" that are said when sacraficing animals are also said when killing people, particularly when slitting human throats in the same way as the slitting of throats of sacraficial animals, is something that has not been adequately discussed.

Just as halal is animal sacrafice, jihad is human sacrafice. Jihadists know they are performing human sacrafice when killing non muslims "in the name of Allah the greatest god".

Let's see the apologists defelct from that without exposing to everyone that they are pro terrorism identy supremicists.
