Firebombed French paper reprints Muhammad cartoon that got it bombed

Defiance in the face of Islamic supremacist intimidation and thuggery. Bravo. "French paper reprints Mohammad cartoon after fire-bomb," by Brian Love for Reuters, November 3:

(Reuters) - A French satirical weekly whose office was fire bombed after it printed a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad has reproduced the image with other caricatures in a special supplement distributed with one of the country's leading newspapers.

The weekly Charlie Hebdo defended "the freedom to poke fun" in the four-page supplement, which was wrapped around copies of the left-wing daily Liberation on Thursday, a day after an arson attack gutted Charlie Hebdo's Paris headquarters.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place hours before an edition of Charlie Hebdo hit news stands featuring a cover-page cartoon of Mohammad and a speech bubble with the words: "100 lashes if you don't die of laughter."

The weekly, known for its irreverent treatment of the political establishment and religious figures, bore the headline "Charia Hebdo," in a reference to Muslim sharia law, and said that week's issue had been guest-edited by Mohammad.

The incident pits Europe's tradition of free speech and secularism against Islam's injunction barring any depictions seen as mocking the prophet. The publication of cartoons of Mohammad in a Danish newspaper in 2005 sparked unrest in the Muslim world in which at least 50 people were killed.

While French Muslim groups criticized Charlie Hebdo's work, they also condemned the fire-bomb attack. The head of the Paris Mosque, Dalil Boubakeur, told a news conference on Thursday: "I am extremely attached to freedom of the press, even if the press is not always tender with Muslims, Islam or the Paris Mosque."

"French Muslims have nothing to do with political Islam," he said.

Abderrahmane Dahmane, a Muslim former presidential adviser on religious diversity, said he was not shocked by the Charlie Hebdo front-page and joked himself about the matter.

"We have a sense of humor in the world of Islam ... what we sometimes say about Islam and the prophet, among ourselves and in the presence of Imams, is worse than what Charlie Hebdo wrote," he quipped.

Pull my other leg, Dahmane. If that were true, then why was Charlie Hebdo firebombed, and why is the OIC pursuing an all-out campaign to force the West to criminalize criticism of Islam?

Following the fire bombing, Charlie Hebdo staff moved temporarily into the offices of Liberation. The two publications jointly produced Thursday's supplement, which reproduced the Charlie Hebdo cartoon in an article on the back page.

One headline in the supplement said: "After their office blaze, this team defends the 'freedom to poke fun'."

"We thought the lines had moved and that maybe there would be more respect for our satirical work, our right to mock. Freedom to have a good laugh is as important as freedom of speech," Charlie Hebdo editor Stephane Charbonnier said in the supplement.

The supplement included several new drawings by Charlie Hebdo cartoonists. In one, a prophet-like figure tries to restrain his billowing robes in a pose reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe as a draft blows up from Charlie Hebdo newspapers below him. Another shows an airborne fire-bomb with a face in the flames and the caption, "So, is this how you see the prophet?"...

Charbonnier told Reuters his newspaper planned to print another 175,000 copies of this week's edition in the coming days after the first print run of 75,000 copies sold out fast.

Luz, the cartoonist who drew the cover cartoon at the center of the controversy, said it was still unclear who had carried out the attack.

"Let's be cautious. There's every reason to believe it's the work of fundamentalists but it could just as well be the work of two drunks," he said in the Thursday supplement.

Hey Luz, keep up the wishful thinking at that high a level, and pretty soon you'll be working for the Obama Administration.

Run-off thousands of single sheet images and rent a Chopper to drop stacks of them into Muslim areas or near mosques, put the onus on muslims to PROVE they are peacful and respect all life and opinions.

The world is watching and the old Poverty issue doesn't work anymore when muslims flee to live in non-islamic nation and go on welfare as they also want to cry Poverty of racism.
They are free to leave and show the west that their respect of allah and muhammed is greater than the welfare checks they get each month as refugees. Not all muslims go on welfare, but in canada every refugee must go on welfare ubtil they are cleared to work , but the trick in canada is to stay a refugee for all the freebee's because once they get the approved staus and landed, they now must get a job and actually work while they spew hatred at canada and non-muslims.

The head of the Paris Mosque, Dalil Boubakeur, told a news conference, "French Muslims have nothing to do with political Islam."

Another Muslim--who does NOT speak for every French Muslim--who believes, nonetheless, that he does.

From the article - "In one, a prophet-like figure tries to restrain his billowing robes in a pose reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe as a draft blows up from Charlie Hebdo newspapers below him."

ROFLMAO.

Go Charlie Hebdo!!

Keep it up, pile it on, refuse to be silenced, refuse to be intimidated (and I do advise you to invest in martial arts training for your artists and editors, a brace of very large black dogs and an arsenal of double-barrelled shotguns, and see about hiring *serious* non-Muslim Security / Bodyguards) and you'll be a shoo-in for Anti-Dhimmi of the Year (Internationale) Award from Jihadwatch in 2011.

This is as crazy as it get - most people didn't careless if the place didn't get bombed. Now, everyone is on the act to find out what this fuss is all about.

moFulls are losers.

Dario Fo (1997 Literature Nobel Prize) used to show in his theatre piece "Mistero buffo" a pope with golden rings talking with Jesus Christ on the subject of the poverty of the Catholic church.
Rolf Hochhut in his 1963 theater piece "Der Stellvertreter" discussed the responsibilities of the Catholic church in Germany in the period 1933-1945.
Do we need to ban these theater pieces from the scenes in order not to annoy the Roman Catholic Church, or shall we keep on reading them and discuss these important subjects?
If a drawing is enough to annoy some Muslim, how can multiple marriages, or marriages with young girls, or a lot of other inconfortable subjects be openly discussed?
Thanks to Charlie Hebdo.
Please add Charlie Hebdo in the candidates for the Jihad Watch Award.

I want to buy this guy a drink when he makes it out to my neck of the Mojave Desert.

Now that is called guts!!! Unlike the cowardly weasels, NYTimes, Times, etc, in USA. Will they publish it here???? You know the answer!!

"The head of the Paris Mosque, Dalil Boubakeur, told a news conference, "French Muslims have nothing to do with political Islam.""

Except for when they do...

unexpectedly defiant. keep it up please.

This could never happen to a British newspaper. They're too cowardly to publish anything that might possibly offend Muslims.

Rabelais, Beaumarchais, Moliere, Voltaire...France has a long and proud tradition of take-no-prisoners satirists with razor-sharp quills.

And provided that the satirist has nerves of steel and provided his fellow citizens have the guts to back him up, let's face it, Islam and its multiple ugly absurdities and antihuman nonsense (e.g. its hatred of pet dogs and of visual arts and of every kind of music, and its insistence on covering women up in sacks in public because of its insane equating of a woman's face and head hair with her naked pudendum, together with its head-banging bottom-up 'prayer' pose, its belief that 'prayers' don't get through to 'allah' if somebody farts or if a dog, donkey or woman happens to stroll past during the 'prayers', and all manner of other bizarrerie) combined with its invincible ignorance, extreme pomposity and delusions of grandeur, offers a tempting and entirely fitting target for satire, ridicule and parody. It's one enormous puffed-up balloon ripe for the pricking.

Finally, a group with courage enough to stand up to the muslim bullies. Bravo!

And please do keep rubbing it in the little b*stards faces.

My apologies to Charlie Hebdo. My first call was that they'd grow timorous and start cringing.

Vive la France libre!

I've been singing La Marseillaise all day.....

No Surrender Monkey talk on JW today I see :)

Also I couldn't help notice that it was Liberation that came to Chuck's aid.
Not Le Figaro.
Did the Left wake up this time? I'm not sure if Marine Le Pen has commented on the issue yet.

Islamiques, I fart in your general direction !

Beatrix, you are absolutely right. However it's fair to point out that for most of the history of the Catholic Church it actually has been EXTREMELY dangerous to mock them, or even to respectfully question their ideas. It is only thanks to the growth of secular power in what we might call 'modern' times that it's now safe to poke fun at them. The church didn't suddenly decide to roll over and play nice.

A freedom hard won at terrible cost. And now we must do the same with regards to Islam. Likely to be an even harder road I fear.

However it's fair to point out that for most of the history of the Catholic Church it actually has been EXTREMELY dangerous to mock them, or even to respectfully question their ideas.

How many centuries ago was the last incidence of this? And even then, at least the clerics had the aplomb to run the apostate through a good old fashioned Judeo-Christian Star Chamber.

GREAT to hear, now let's see them publish my Mohammad drawing http://bit.ly/tYn3CE

Hooray for them. I didn't think the French had it in them.

Defiance in the face of Islamic supremacist intimidation and thuggery. Bravo. "French paper reprints Mohammad cartoon after fire-bomb"
...........................

Charlie Hebdo *rocks*! Or should I say "Charia Hebdo" (Sharia Weekly)? Great joke, by the way...

More:

...........................

"Libération" rocks, too! Last I heard, Libération was going to offer Charlie Hebdo staff their facilities to compose their magazine—and they got my heartfelt kudos for that.

But this—actually *presenting the Charlie Hebdo supplement as part of their own very serious newspaper* is both generous and very, very brave!

May it serve them well. If I were in France, I would eagerly take out subscriptions to both papers.

The only jokes I am *more* than happy to shelve for now, Amazonas.

Vive La France!

Less than a century sir.

Read up on the Spanish Civil War. The Catholic church openly sided with the fascists. Diss a priest and you were in big trouble.

Given there were no good guys in that conflict. The Republican side was heavily in the thrall of Stalinist Russia. I'm the first to admit that. But we're talking right now about the Catholic church.

Second example. Ireland as late as the 60s and 70s. You're raped by a priest. Shut your mouth! How dare you speak ill of a priest.....

The Star Chamber was better than an Islamic Court? You disappoint me.

Charbonnier told Reuters his newspaper planned to print another 175,000 copies of this week's edition in the coming days after the first print run of 75,000 copies sold out fast.

As I said on an earlier thread, this criminal act by Islam will cement Charlie Hebdo's place in the hearts of the French people.

Charlie Hebdo has instantly become as famous as the Eiffel Tower!

From the article: "Charbonnier told Reuters his newspaper planned to print another 175,000 copies of this week's edition in the coming days after the first print run of 75,000 copies sold out fast."

At this rate Charlie might be able to rent new premises and equipment pretty soon.

And think about it: the very act of *buying* that particular edition of 'Liberation', with the scandalously satirical Islamocritical Charlie Hebdo supplement wrapped around it, is a small act of Resistance and would require, in some parts of France, a degree of personal courage. To be seen buying it, and taking it home...to be seen reading it, in the office, or on the train...it is an act of defiance.

We now know that there are at least 75 000 freedom-minded French out there...if the reprint of 175000 sells out also - one suspects the much greater number may reflect orders from newsagencies based on the number of disappointed customers they've had, who came looking for a copy but were too late to get one - there is a glimmer of hope for France.

Bernard Lewis says Jihad is an unlimited offensive to bring the whole world under Islamic law; Christian crusades a defensive, limited response to, and imitation of, jihad. From pp.233-234 of The Middle East: A Brief History of the Last 2000 Years

Even the Christian crusade, often compared with the Muslim jihad, was itself a delayed and limited response to the jihad and in part also an imitation. But unlike the jihad it was concerned primarily with the defense or reconquest of threatened or lost Christian territory...The Muslim jihad, in contrast, was perceived [by Muslims] as unlimited, as a religious obligation that would continue until all the world had either adopted the Muslim faith or submitted to Muslim rule.… The object of jihad is to bring the whole world under Islamic law.

"..a pose reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe"
The kind of pose he used to seduce Zahir?
http://crossmuslims.blogspot.com/2010/03/muhammad.html

The intrepid spirit of Charles Martel is alive and well in France defending Western Civilization from Allah's evil hordes. God bless this brave man.

Ah ha .. but will all the newsagents get firebombed as well?? Then who will be available to sell the papers?

YES...............
Bravo, Charlie Hebdo,..............you are doing great.
Oh please please don't backtrack now.

Marilyn Monroe style pose?
Love it.
Can we see it at JW?

Will there be English versions of th re-printing available?

Great job by these two publishers, teaming up to get the job done.

Never back down!

Sense of humour and satire sharpens under threats. Bravo!

When Nazi propaganda machinery put posters in German towns that read: "National Socialism or Communism?" , somebody with a sense of humor wrote above it: "Spuds or Potatoes". Needless to say that Nazis tried to catch the guy and kill him.

Sense of humor is sorely lucking in Islamic world where telling the truth can get your beheaded, shot or bombed, depending on the technological sophistication of the Muslims who take offense of having truth be told about their sacred cows (of bulls ;-)!).

It is time for the people around the world to assert their right to free speech EVERYWHERE without having to worry about being beheaded (as Daniel Pearls was in Pakistan), shot (as governor of Pakistani province was by his body guard), or bombed (as numerous others are by Muslim fanatics).

Time to reform Islam in order to make it compatible with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and US Constitution Free Speech Amendment. IF they want to have their medieval evil Sharia, let them go into the countries from which they came, rather than imposing such oppression of thoughts and expression in our midst!

Muy Bueno, DDA. Ahh yes, get the pricks with the power of a prick from a razor sharp quill. Satire for Satan and his usefull idiot Mohumoured. Hey, I made a word---Mohumored!

"Mohumoured!" -- Good one!

R.K.MacUalraig, I would happily make the translation myself! I expect to be unemployed for the next couple of months and would gladly donate all the profits back to Charlie Hebdo. Where do I go to apply for the job?

But I expect one of our Canadian friends will step into the breach first.

Actually, Luz appears to be a pretty courageous guy.

Here he is defiantly displaying his cover in the wreckage of the Charlie Hebdo offices:

Meekee wrote:

............................

They can't bomb them all, Meekee.

When Berkeley's independent Cody's Books was firebombed way back in 1989 for daring to place a copy of The Satanic Verses in their window, they at first feared they'd have to close.

The owner gathered all his employees for a meeting, and said he'd understand if any of them were too scared to come back to work, and that he would pay their salaries as long as he could if they decided to stay home. Indeed, police found another incendiary device set above the information desk that hadn't gone off. If it had, the store almost certainly would have burned to the ground.

Still, the employees all bravely said they were even more determined to get the bookstore back up and running.

Even before they were able to replace the blown-out glass, they jerry-rigged plexiglass sheets in front of the display windows—and filled *every window* with huge displays of Rushdie's book, and big posters explaining what had happened and how they planned to defy those who would have shut them down.

At the time, *very few* people in the West knew much about "radical Islam". I don't recall whether I even knew the word "Jihad" then.

Still, I gave as much business as I could to Cody's, and so did many other people. I hadn't even planned to purchase The Satanic Verses, but I did so then.

Cody's Bookstore actually thrived in the wake of the Jihad terror attack, which is just as it should be.

I agree. For International Anti-Dhimmie of the year, Charlie Hebdo deserves it this year. Have some more such issues - not necessarily w/ Mo on the cover (since that would be repetitive & boring) but rather, w/ new cartoons on him, and Aisha every day.

Speaking of which, how's that inner Jihad regarding the anti-Aisha toys from China coming along?

Since both, Charlie Hebdo and the Liberation are from that side of politics that fosters and promotes the Islamisation of the West, is this the light at the end of the tunnel and is the Left at last waking up??

GOOD ON CHARLIE HEBDO !!! AND Liberation!

That was centuries ago. Islam is barbaric in the here and now of the 21st Century. We last hanged or burned witches 300 years ago, the Saudis only last week executed someone for sorcery. If Christians are so bad, then why are you living in a Christian country? Why aren't you living in Northern Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran etc where you belong?

Amazonas wasn't saying *Christians* are bad, merely pointing out the undeniable facts about the Catholic Church, and in response to APF, pointing out the Church's stance in the Spanish Civil War, and in Ireland during the Troubles.

Jumping on people who make legitimate criticisms and comments, and insulting them by saying they should go and live in an islamic country ? This is one of the lamentable, and ultimately self-defeating, tactics of the Left. To be anti-jihadist, and anti-muslim doesn't, or shouldn't, require one to dump one's critical faculties at the door.
