The mandate of Iran’s morality police is currently being broadened by hard-liners attempting to roll back reforms enacted under former president Mohammad Khatami. The current government says the reforms led to a lack of observance of religious dress codes, among other things.
Iran’s ski resorts became something of a haven from the Islamic dress code — and from laws against boys and girls mixing. Young people would mix and meet on the mountains, while some women would ski without their head scarves in the resorts of Dizin and Shemshak, known for their abundance of fresh powder.
Monitoring the miles-long slopes proved difficult for the morality police. Unfamiliar with skiing, officers were often unable to pursue the affluent young of northern Tehran, with their greater experience on the slopes. It is unclear whether the police will do any better trying to check the relationships of those heading out to the popular resorts now....

Love is foreign to Islam. It works with most people but you won't impress jihadists with acts of kindness and most Muslims are more afraid of the jihadists than they are of us.
Well PMK, it's not Satan/Allah's world, I mean, he is allowed to run around and make mischief in it for the time being but he will not ultimately rule it forever. It's not part of the plan. And the true God is depending on us to do the loving, even if it kills us. But it will not kill all of us.
In an effort to find an answer to the problem of Islam spreading in my country and my world I've been looking at all angles of this problem to try and find a solution. I had an acquaintance tell me recently that I really hate Muslims and I was feeling a lot of anger towards them so I went to confession and talked to my priest about the situation. He knows me and knows what I've been up to regarding fighting Islam and he supports me in doing it. He said, no, you don't hate Muslims. It is one thing to hate them and another to hate their religion and I realized he was right. Then about a week later I was talking to one of my best girlfriends about it and she said, I know you and you don't hate Muslims. Those words were very comforting but also made me start to wonder, what can I do besides being mad at these guys, which is so easy to do because I hate it when they lie, when they kill their girls and when they make up stupid stuff to advocate executing people. like that poor guy in Saudi a couple of weeks ago who was beheaded for being a "sorcerer". What kind of freaks go all superstitious on you and start killing people to make themselves feel better. My God would slap me silly if I pulled something like that.
But so I stepped back and started to look at Muslims as people who are so lost and so in need. I pray for that every day now and look at them differently. Now don't get me wrong, there is a time to turn the other cheek and a time to point my new Ruger SR9C at somebody's head and pull the trigger if they ever get near anyone in my family. (Oh my gosh, I love that gun!) But I am on a mission to pray them away from their diabolical misfortune. I'll be there when the fighting starts but if I can do an act of kindness and ask God to help this poor Muslim or that poor Muslim to get away from Islam and find Him, I'm going to do it. Doing this has taken my anger away which I really needed to go. I didn't want to win the battle and lose my soul in the process.
With all due respect, PMK, looking on the internet I came across "Spengler" from Asia Online. He is really David Goldman. And he wrote about the already declined and further declining birthrate of Muslima's.
Then I checked and found Todd and Courbage saying the same thing. But they are politically correct. But still the same thing occurs in UN Statistics.
And it is wonderful. ever since 9/11 I was under the impression that A. Muslims were more committed than average ordinary humans to their cause (and that cause I do not like!) and B. that as a rule Muslima's got a lot more babies than ordinary women, in the Democratic countries.
But a weight was lifted of my mind when this year I realised that Turkey, Iran, Tunisia, Algeria, Bangla Desh, Indonesia already had low birthrates and that Morocco, Egypt and Pakistan were declining in birthrates.
and the other day I learned that birthrates are actually picking up in Sweden, France, the UK and Germany. and not because of Muslim immigrants (they only account for a small percentage)!
Now I know we are "not home yet" but maybe the Muslims cannot win overwhelmingly anymore by way of the womb!!
And in my city, Rotterdam, there are approx. 50.000 of Turkish descent and 40.000 of Moroccan descent. In a total of 610.000 citizens. And yes, many import brides/ bridegrooms, but I feel better now that I know Dutch and Turkish birthrates are on a par, in Holland AND in Turkey (the exception are the Kurds, who are thus encouraged to aim and fight for secession from Turkey).
Same for Moroccans in Holland AND Morocco.

I would like to add that the biggest reason given for the diminishing birthrates among Muslima's worldwide is education and subsequently a working career for ever more women.
On average of course, Only the forcible married at very young age, uneducated, oppressed, sheepish women get many children nowadays, like in Niger + Mali (+ other Sub-saharan countries).
The educated Muslima is like the educated woman everywhere! On average I mean.
And when birthrates are roughly equal I agree with Wellington and Isabella, even although so many people in Democratic countries remain politically correct and ignorant.

I agree with Isabella, PMK, that love is more powerful than hate but I would also add that truth is more powerful than falsehood and liberty will eventually prevail over an enslaving ideology. Three good reasons (and there are still more like Islam's pure silliness) why Islam is doomed long term.

What a joyful escape from their stifling existence in ayatollah-run Iran it must be for those girls and women to be able to hit the downhill slopes and enjoy the freedom of skiing! Good news about the falling muslim birthrate if it is true. Out-breeding them has never been an option because as free people we can't just order our children to think as we want, whereas muslims can confidently grow their own ummah army. If we don't have to worry about simply being overrun by billions of Allah slaves in the end, it means there are more workable parameters to this conflict and that if we win decisively over the Islamist fundamentalist leadership we aren't still doomed to centuries of "Ummah Clone Wars".
Isabella, I suppose this is just an uppity atheist question, but why doesn't God just do what is right without you believers having to fold your hands a certain way and beg him to? Heck, if "He" would just take the Islamists in hand and have a serious chat with them about how they must cease their destructive behavior and learn to love themselves and others, the rest of us could go back to enjoying creative and productive lives without having to be pre-occupied with what Islam is up to all the time.

This made interesting reading and i'll be doing a little research myself.
In the UK, a couple of years ago if i remember correctly, a study was raised that caused no small uproar amongst our muslim community which is relative to the declining birth-rates that you speak of.
It concerned the practice of CONSANGUINITY. The custom of 1st-cousin marriage and the genetic, congenital-defects that surface in the offspring of such unions. Children, if they manage to reach full-term, have all manner of physical and mental disablement, sometimes whole families will be 'produced', with ALL of these unfortunates born severely handicapped.
I found it heart-rendering to watch and was amazed that the parents would continue to produce kids even though they'd been warned by health professionals that the odds of having 'normal' babies were stacked against them. Especially when 2nd generation, 1st cousins went on to have children of their own. The health professionals who were interviewed could hardly contain their incredulity at the continuance of such a dangerous custom and that the message wasn't getting across within he muslim community. It was, of course, the "inshallah" excuse being used by the parents to qualify the continuity of error.
What was significant was that some of the mothers had cottoned-on to why the deformaties were happening and were resorting to secret terminations and sterilisation.
It also transpired that when a muslim man took a 1st-cousin as a wife he would sometimes have 'relations' with the wife's sister's, thus compounding the issue! They can be real 'hot-blooded' these guys, they need to be seen to be fulfilling their machismo within their community.
Sometimes, the doctors who were supposed to be carrying-out the terminations and sterilisations were muslim and before the procedures could be completed, somehow, the local imam was informed, by these doctors no less, and they in turn informed the husband! No need to guess the misery that entailed following this "enlightenment".
The fear that some of these women felt was palpable because even when he foetus was lost due to natural-causes, it was usually construed that they'd somehow caused it to happen, deliberately.
These offspring can be so badly handicapped that they require full-time care or sequestration in a specialist facility, all paid for by the state, i.e. the British taxpayer. The actual cost ran into millions of pounds for each year of life.
Even when prominent muslims spoke out against consanguinity they were derided for doing so by the usual, useful-idiots and accused of being disloyal and, well, you can guess what else.
Fortunately, the programme-makers stood their ground and produced hard-facts to back up their information yet were still accused in mosques around the country, by influential imams, of islamophobia and part of the "on-going conspiracy" against muslims in he UK.
I was flabbergasted at the "on-going stupidity".
As for these women-skiers in iran; well, they're really on a slippery-slope now eh?

I'm continually frustrated that peoples of this world look to a religion/ideology of any sort to make their minds up or to salve their collective-conscience's.
I see/hear christians (ab)using their faith by looking-down on muslims, just as muslims do with christianity, et al; it's like the old adage, "My dad's (god's) bigger than your dad (god)!
While i realise the importance of faith to individuals, by adopting this "holier-than-thou" stance, it skews and stilts progression.
It is my firm belief (faith?) that reason and compassion for one's fellow-man will out-live all religions.
Though this may take some time....
People are people despite Islamic Totalism. I'm not far from hopeful some of the monitors hit a tree or two on a downward slope looking for those bad girls.

Hm-m, this is assuming that christ, jesus, mo, abraham, vishnu, khrishna and other supernaturalistic-entities, as i consider them, exist(ed) in the first place. I don't wish to split hairs but I'll not apologise for my Atheist view, Dave. I originate from a devout roman-catholic heritage which, by its judeo-christian ethos gave me a sound moral code by which to live my life and also made me the man i am today. It also taught me that you don't need to be a believer of any sort to be gracious to your fellow man (whatever his/her persuasion) and to recognise the twisted-ideology that is islam.
I just go by what i believe to be truth and reason and i abhor the arrogance that blind-faith can instil in some people in this world, muslim, christian and abrahamic alike. What i am witness to is the assumption, by SOME religious people who often see themselves as being better than others; especially followers of a different belief-system. And this is not what your god preached, apparently. Was it not, "Good Will to ALL men"? This is what i believe but without the sky-god bit. I just have no need for a god. I am a good, loving and respectful man without one. If you knew me personally, i'd hope you'd agree with that.
I respect your need to believe so please respect my disbelief. because when all is said and done, we both recognise the danger that islam, in its present form, presents to the planet, that's why we're ALL here on JW.
