The heightened state of alert before New Year's celebrations and the Coptic Christmas season came as anonymous threats against the Copts circulated on Facebook.
One of those on Friday threatened a suicide bombing of an unnamed church in Egypt and said that the church's name would be posted at 11:50 p.m. local time Saturday just before the attack. A spokesman for Facebook said it was aware of the threat "and is investigating it."
The Alexandria attack occurred just after midnight Jan. 1 as worshippers left a New Year's Mass. More than 20 people were killed, making it the worst violence against the Christian minority in Egypt in a decade....
Christians looking to the Egyptian military for protection, is sort of like asking a Hizbulla suicide bomber to stand guard at a bar mitzvah.

I suspect this is just some more taqiyya, to gain the non-Muslims trust, so that the Muslims can easily dominate them.
It's a weapon Islam has used to its advantage for the last 1400 years.
Being kind, understanding, and forgiving are one thing. But allowing more Christians be murdered is the crulest form of insanity.
And in the next attack on Egypts Copts, we know the military will be complicit.

Gamal, Robert Spencer is hardly denying the Egyptian army's savagery towards Christians and frequent violence against them.
He has, in fact, reported on it many times. Here's just one such article:

It is just that other elements of Muslim Egyptian society, including the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafists—is *even more* viciously inclined towards the Coptic minority than is the military.
The truth is, the army has had a *very* checkered history vis-a-vis the threatened Christian minority—sometimes attacking them themselves, sometimes joining in with Muslim mobs, sometimes turning a blind eye to attacks, and sometimes at least partially protecting Christians, their churches, and their property.
Things are horrendously bad in Egypt now for Christians—but should the "Islamists" take power, I imagine it will only get worse—with increases in attacks, oppression, and the likely imposition of Jizya under full Shari'ah—and I believe *this* is the point Robert Spencer is trying to make.
