Raymond Ibrahim testifies about the plight of Egypt's Christians

Along with others, yesterday I testified at the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, U.S. Congress, Washington D.C. The title of the hearing was "Under Threat:The Worsening Plight of Egypt's Coptic Christians." Above is a clip.

al-Maqreze! al-Qaida sympathizing Sheikh, Hani as-Sibai has a "history center" based on al-Maqreze's works... Isn't that ironic? I suppose that makes me an Islamophobe...

It certainly was refreshing to see someone explain some of the true aspects of Islam to attentive ears without the violent outbursts from Muslim antagonists...

it sure is. he did a great job of it. let's see if anyone is listening.

It's heartening to see that Raymond Ibrahim and others were brought to Congress to testify as to the true significance of the so-called "Arab Spring." The historical context was very helpful, I'm sure. I especially appreciated the term "Islamicate," the notion that the society itself is infested with a worldview no matter how observant a Moslem any particular individual may be. That is why we live today with a clash of cultures: Millions of Mohammedans with a worldview completely inconsonant with Western values have been allowed, if not actually encouraged and bankrolled, to settle here.

If we believe that among those inalienable rights that all people are born with include life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, then we must insist that those rights take precedence over the exact form of government. Had George III's government taken greater care to honor those rights of his American colonists, America would be a constitutional monarchy instead of a republic today. Democracy without minority rights is simply mob rule, as sadly the Copts know all too well.

This testimony before Congress by Raymond Ibrahim is a great moment in American History.

If we should survive, in thirty years, the video we have just watched will be required viewing in every American History class.

Mr. Ibrahim made his case both eloquently and powerfully.

It was an astounding testimony, really. It deserves close study.

What better way to honor December 7th? A date that is clouded by the after-the-fact realization that there were sufficient warnings of pending attack.

This is a warning, regardless of whether it is heeded or not.

How am I supposed to interpret the Salafists' decision not to boycott the Egyptian elections? Can I assume that they had a pre-election dialog with the Muslim Brotherhood, where the Muslim Brotherhood pledged fealty to implementation of originalist interpretations of Islam, at the direct expense of anti-tyrant desires of many non-Muslims and non-Muslim Muslims?

Mr. Ibrahim , I think you did an excellent job of explaining the situation. Hopefully they were listening, I pray they were listening. You managed to keep my attention, not an easy task. There are so few people who fight for the Copts and even fewer who care to listen. Bravo!

David Dowse said it best.

I'm a big fan of Ray and all he utters via a keyboard.

By the way, it's the truth. All of it.

Great presentation, Ray. Really, really good. I'm passing this around as both a thumbnail lesson for many and a glimpse of how, as you explain, we're generally bereft of context by the media and academy.

Great job.

Who's the lady to his right?

That was a nice dance. How to answer a question w/o answering a question. Islam is at war with America, but America refuses to acknowledge it. Everything about it is war like. The Copts know it, maybe someone should ask them, again. Obama's admin. does not admit it, so the Copts get little or no assistance. The only thing they can do is get out of Egypt. If they don't the US will stand by and allow them to be slaughtered. I know that Egypt has been their home for hundreds of years, however if they don't move they will die. Obama will not give them any genuine help. The Islamist know what they are doing and it is intentional. Mere talk by the US will not help them at all.

It IS ISLAM ITSELF, IDIOT! 5I! It is high time to uncover the dangers of the hateful supremacist Nazi-like Koranic Verses and Hadith for what they are! Perhaps Salmon Rushdie's book Satanic Verses needs to be made an obligatory reading for all people of the good will. Certainly the nasty Koranic verses and the history of Islam and their "final prophet" of their "perfect religion" needs to be uncovered for what they are: An ideology of hate, apartheid, misogyny and violation of human rights of individuals.

People of the good will, including many moderate Muslims who never paid attention to Koran, need to know that the "final and most perfect prophet" was an ignorant pedophile polygamist, who married Aisha, one of his 12 wives when she was 6 and he was 51, and a murderer, responsible for a gruesome murder (by beheading) of 900 Jews from Medina. Their "crime" was that they did not take his claims about being God's prophet seriously!

CAIR and other Islamic organization, who are not very busy whitewashing Islam, need to be taken to US Court for spreading hatred and intolerance against non-Muslims in their mosques by supporting hateful verses of Koran and writings of Hadith. It will be easy to prove by knowledgeable people like we have on this Board that this indeed is the case.

when*pigs*fly,
Thankj you. I watched her testimony, it was moving. And she's pretty.

Bravo, Raymond Ibrahim! I'm glad someone is finally looking at this. Whether it will affect our mad foreign policy is yet to be seen...
