DHS storms rogue Social Security office

Greetings, DHS agents! The DHS can't study or even speak about Islamic jihad or Islamic terrorism -- in other words, it can't distinguish the threat we're facing from a hole in the ground -- but DHS agents can terrify elderly people strolling into a Virginia Social Security office. Feel safer?

"Training excercise [sic] startles locals," by Millard K. Ives in the Daily Commercial, January 4 (thanks to Kenneth):

It may have looked like they were ready for war or some deranged person looking for his late Social Security benefits.

But it was only Federal Protective Service officers with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security who were conducting a random training operation early Tuesday morning when they surprisingly showed up at the Social Security Administration office in downtown Leesburg.

With their blue and white SUVs circled around the Main Street office, at least one official was posted on the door with a semiautomatic rifle, randomly checking identifications. And other officers, some with K-9s, sifted through the building.

"I thought someone was upset about not getting there [sic] check," said Laura Kelly, who took a friend to the office on Tuesday....

Here is a different article by a different author using the same photograph. This article though similar paints a much more ominous opinion of these DHS actions that are being performed by Federal Protective Service officers around the country.

Oh, good grief! It's lucky they didn't give any of the elderly and ill Social Security recipients a heart attack...

And they can not even get close to a mosque without the "liberal" world screaming "discrimination". Hey the Jihadists say over and over that western world is corrupt and stupid. This shows that they are right.

What a bunch of idiots.

Well folks this was just a training session. Better to practice first on people that aren't going to sue or attack you.

What I want to know- what is their plan when handed an ID of an individual dressed in a burqa?

do these 'jack bauer wannabe's, comprehend what utter b.s. this action really is?
and i am just wondering out loud, where does common sense kick in and where does 'i vas only folloving orrrderrs from herr komandant' stop....

i think it is clear where this abomination originates...

What would random checks of identification by a newly-arrived FPS officer have to do with the all-over readiness of the existing security staff?

These people must have been frightened out of their minds! And to do it on the 3rd of the month when people are picking up checks/etc.!

If they want to check the readiness of the existing security measures (which seems like a total lie if you look at the approach for even 10 seconds) you send a guy in a muslim cap, smelling of sandalwood, with a backpack, arriving without a vehicle/dropped off, who is moving toward the biggest number of infidels in one spot he can find.

Then you know if you've got game or if everyone's had their cultural sensitivity training certificate framed yet.

Nothing to see here, folks. Just Nobama's brown shirts practicing for rounding up all the kuffar who refuse to submit or pay the jizya!

This is a training exercise for the public. Hmm, can you say police state? What's next, are they going to check for ID while the elderly are leaving the supermarket? Can they refuse to show ID? Yeah I would love to see a little old lady take a swing at an agent with her handbag ...

If you have any nice crystal you might want to hide it. Brown shirts always love to smash things. Did these guys goose-step up to the door? Practice on the grannys, they're used to this stuff if they get on a plane. Should put em all in an internment camp anyway, as they eat too much and use up to much oxygen. But, move along, nuttin to see here.

I have to joke about all this nonsense lest I go crazy seeing what Nobama and the "progressives" are doing to this country.

One glimmer of hope: I recall watching news footage of the aftermath of Katrina. A reporter asked a National Guard Sergeant(don't recall which state he was from) if it was true that they were given orders to rescue by force, if necessary, non compliant civilians. The sergeant replied that he and his men would not use any force against their fellow American citizens.

Nobama and his minions may have their little brown shirts and inner city youths in training, but they do not, I believe, have the hearts and minds of the active duty military. They may have a few of the officers on their payrolls, but not all of them.

dear ic

you described practically verbatim how i feel.
with each and every passing day i am afraid that the plot thickens.
quite a bit!
are we the frog that is being boiled to death, or what?
help!

I agree. Most are decent Americans.

Well, if this story is any indication of the level of smarts of the DHS dudes and dudettes watching us here at JWatch, I'd say we're all pretty screwed...

Let the Games Begin!

Tune in for next week's episode as Janet Incompetano's DHS hits a local nursing home:

"Alright, you in there--drop the laxatives--hands up & step away from the walker!"

I believe we need to get a clear and precise reason from Janet Napolitano as to why this practice exercise was made towards an active social security office in what apparently was a surprise to those present.

The reason I ask this: Why are states like Arizona among several others being denied the right to ask for ID from possible illegal aliens unless there is a clear violation of the law and yet Federal police can storm into a social security office for no apparent reason or any probable cause whatsoever?

I find this quite disturbing.

DHS Checking IDs at the SS office..

but the DoJ attacks States that want to require and ID to vote..

Things that make you go Hmmmmm...

The gov likes to do this kind of stuff periodically, just to let you know who is in charge...A few years ago they were kicking in the doors of health food places, pointing guns at gray haired clerks and confiscated vitamins. Recently it was Gibson guitars, and now SS offices...I don't get the point, but there must be one somewhere...

Jee, must have taken the same courses as the guys in airports who check old nuns in wheelchairs and nonagenarian's diapers...

I hope the officers were cautioned beforehand against randomly checking the identification of individuals with a Middle Eastern appearance.

Otherwise we wouldn't hear the end of it.

Interventionism by the same progressivist welfare state, at home and abroad. Its the same system, fed by monetary central planning apparatus.

When it harasses Americans you justly object. When it promotes the US abroad as this so-called "bastion of Freedom", liberating oppressed Muslim women and all, some, even within the CJ movement, support it as a struggle against Islam, which it isn't. Its a war on/of Terror. Break/make, flip/flop.

Hey, "Fred," the DHS agent:

Guess you're just brimming with pride, this morning. Picking on a bunch of geriatrics just to show them who's boss. They're such a threat, aren't they? Your guys must have picked up a few pointers from your brain-brothers in the TSA. Good work! Give that Gestapo man a raise!

Readers here should link to the larger story provided by Mackie at:

The DHS is scheduled to become just as great an intrusive police entity in our lives as the search and seizure experts at the airports. You must wonder about whether or not these creatures are Americans, are know what it is to be Americans. They all seem to wear those identity-neutralizing sunglasses (probably at $50 a pair, you paid for it, as you did the $50 screwdrivers and toilet seats of yore) to scare people, like the goon in the photograph.

Hey, Fred, the "DHS agent": Ever read the Constitution? No? You mean, that's off limits, too? Can't focus on Muslims, can't let the word "Islam" escape your lips or else you'll be fired or suspended with pay or even "detained"? I guess your ticket to "job security" is obeying orders and blanking out and rousting any American who gives you a dirty look. Or questions your "authority."

Fred: Is your real name Heinrich Himmler the Third?

I'm really sorry, Skeen66, and I am all in favor of various reports from various sources, corroborating one another, but I just cannot bring myself to associate with the conspiracy crowd at Alex Jones' site. He very well may have good reporting, may have reporters who do good work, but the environment is toxic, for me.

By the way, I am convinced that the person who first posted on the DHS thread as "Fred" was just a joker.

But do you remember Captain Tuttle from MASH? Hawkeye and friends made him up to blame various things on him. They made him into a hero, and then killed him off. Margaret cried. It was a total hoot.

I propose Fred now exists, and that Fred is our DHS contingent. I, for one, am glad they are here, even as I pay their paychecks while I sit here at work, using my salary to post on jihadwatch :)

Cheers Skeen66 and Fred!

Robert, do you really think there are DHS personnel monitoring this site, and not just DHS computers doing word searches? If so, I hope you're right about that.

Thanks for all of your good work.

Humourless suits controlled by spineless politicians tend to prosecute the one raising the alarm rather than the arsonist.

Uh, this happened in Florida, not Virginia. The only consequence is there are a lot more elderly retired folk down there.

Good story, anyway. Shows how much we should fear our government. One other question is since when do Federal agents use "semi-automatic" weapons? Those looked like machine guns to me.

Robert Spencer wrote:

Just a general note. I meant to write this on the other thread but time escaped me. The DHS memo that said that Jihad Watch was being monitored also said that monitoring agents would not be commenting or participating in any way on the monitoring websites. That makes it clear that "Fred" was not a real DHS agent.
...................................

Fred is a periodic poster at Jihad Watch—I've seen his comments here on and off for years. I believe he was indeed joking on that thread.

I just hope no one gives him a hard time when he posts here next...

Commenting on the update: Spencer says:

"The DHS memo that said that Jihad Watch was being monitored also said that monitoring agents would not be commenting or participating in any way on the monitoring websites."

Surely, it is just a typo and it should read, "monitored websites" - not, "monitoring websites".

Sorry to be a nit-picker.

Why would DHS agents want to comment in reply to posts made on a monitored site, anyway?

That sort of gives away the whole farm, doesn't it?
