I tried to tell you. Or maybe Larijani is just a "fearmongering Islamophobe."
"Iranian leader: Egypt’s new parliament a step toward Islamic regime," from Al-Masry Al-Youm's Egypt Independent, January 26 (thanks to Wimpy):
The inauguration of Egypt's new parliament is an important step toward fulfilling public demands for the establishment of a regime based on Islam, said Ali Larijani, speaker of the Iranian parliament, in a letter on Wednesday. The letter was sent to Saad al-Katatny, People's Assembly speaker. In the letter, Larijani extended his congratulations to Katatny and expressed pleasure that the latter had been elected as parliamentary speaker.
In the message, posted on Al-Alam channel online, Larijani also said he hoped that brotherly ties between the two countries would grow stronger.
Given the importance of parliamentary cooperation in the development of bilateral relations, Iran's parliament is ready to help promote parliamentary collaboration, Larijani said....
In November, Mojtaba Amani, director of the office for Iranian interests in Cairo, said he expected diplomatic relations between Cairo and Tehran to normalize after Egypt's parliamentary elections.
Of course, Sharia's a comin. That's what Islamic 'elections' must be in the end.
In Islamic 'democratic elections', it's always just one step from ink-stained fingers to blood-stained hands.
Larijani is a clown!
Too bad Egypt doesn't have any Shia to persecute. Wonder whether Larijani would be as enthusiastic supporting the same party Ikhwan in overthrowing the Assad regime in Syria as he is supporting Ikhwan in Egypt? It would be nice to see Iran experience the biting of the hand that feeds it from Sunni jihadis like Ikhwan, Hamas...
he expected diplomatic relations between Cairo and Tehran to normalize
With Islamists both ends ...different kinds of Islamists??
If any doubt the outcome in Egypt's newfound 'democracy' visit Hugh Fitzgerald's excellent recent piece on how things went in Iraq after US troops vacated: http://www.newenglishreview.org/blog_direct_link.cfm/blog_id/40225
There is no surprise, that's how Islamic 'democracy' devolves into sectarian warfare and Sharia rule. Those are the breaks, kids. Will State Dept. learning anything here?
And the ikhwanis love BHO and BHO loves the ikhwan. Yah, we have to respect the democratic wishes of the Egyptian people, just like we respected the democratic wishes of Nazi Germans.

That's their english site; the arab site is doble cara at its worse. It has all the anti semitism and islamic jihadism. PBS has never been accused of impartiallity and objectivity.
Muz democracy = plebiscitory declarations of support for islamic governance.
People who frequent this blog knew what the outcome of the "Egyptian spring" would be, but maybe some of us were surprised at the glee with which the anointed one & his "administration" embraced this "change".
iran's leader is full of it. they are in deep s.. back home.

Finklestein: "Omar, look - remember that oud I traded for the ticket for the festival?"
Omar: "Yes. I remember. It made a good pot of tea."
Finklestein: "Yeah, well, Omar?"
Omar: "Yes?"
