Martin Luther King, Jr.: Zionist

MLK.jpg

Martin Luther King, Jr., was an opponent of the jihad against Israel. While there are some disputed quotations circulating in this connection, here are some key and authenticated MLK quotes:

"I cannot stand idly by, even though I happen to live in the United States and even though I happen to be an American Negro and not be concerned about what happens to the Jews in Soviet Russia. For what happens to them happens to me and you, and we must be concerned."

"Israel's right to exist as a state in security is uncontestable."

"Peace for Israel means security, and we must stand with all our might to protect its right to exist, its territorial integrity. I see Israel as one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security and that security must be a reality."

"I solemnly pledge to do my utmost to uphold the fair name of the Jews -- because bigotry in any form is an affront to us all."

"When people criticize Zionists they mean Jews, you are talking anti-Semitism."

This brief reflection is a reminder that Dr. Martin Lurther King Jr. did make a difference, not only for the United States community, but for the global community as well. Never knew that he took an interest in Middle Eastern issues.

To be absolutely clear because people don't always click on links, it is in reference to a Harvard speech - not in a letter published to a periodical.

"When people criticize Zionists they mean Jews, you are talking anti-Semitism."

Quite right. The feeble attempt to separate anti-Judaism from anti-Zionism serves as nothing more than a decrepit foundation to disproportionally criticize Jews for as many imaginary wrongdoings the PC idiots can attribute to them on the one hand, while trying to steer clear from being perceived as tradionalist anti-Semites on the one hand.

It simply won't wash with me. A typical conundrum the PC elites have devised to divert attention away from the real issue: in making common cause with Muslims anti-Semitism has to be adopted as a prerequisite. Or even, if you are predisposed to anti-Semitism these days, you'll automatically find cause to rally with Muslims.

Simple as that !

It was an American tragedy to lose Martin Luther King at such a young age.

I don't believe MLK would have approved of all the race bating and demagogic actions of today by the so-called leaders in the black community for one moment.

Yeah, what Dr king said...

I was accused of being a Zionist troll...I rushed right out and bought myself a beer in celebration...

I stand with Israel...Happy birthday Martin wherever you are...I looked up when I typed that...

"Happy birthday Martin wherever you are" :-)

Wow I have never seen that quotation before.

Just goes to show what a giant Dr King was. Interesting to contrast his stance with BHO.

If MLK were alive today, he would have been very critical of the threat of radical islam and would have shamed cair for using Rosa Parks photo on their website and comparing their sharia and jihadi cause to MLK's cause. Cair doesn't demonstrate equality.

Good for Dr. King.

However, it's moot to speculate on what King would say were he alive today (a possibility, had his assassin missed, or gotten picked up prior to killing him). Much of the tension and racial violence that flared up after 1968 stemmed from the fact that King was assassinated at a time when politics, especially those of race, were highly charged and emotional. That King was assassinated rather than allowed to mature into the elder statesman of the US civil rights movement (or into an ordinary pastorate or professor's chair once the big battles of civil rights were won) simply added fuel to the fires of rankled mistrust and anger, and gave credibility to the charge that America was a hopelessly "racist" society.

Would King have remained a moderating voice? Or, would he have been pushed into a more radical direction? We'll never know.

May his memory be eternal. Rest in peace.

Let us not forget that King also made numerous anti-American statements and surrounded himself with communists. This is that same man that accused America of being the greatest purveyor of violence in the world.I think counter-jihad activists should look elsewhere for heroes and role models.

Sorry Robert, you've fallen for a hoax, but you're certainly not the first to fall for this one. Those quotes are alleged by the book "Shared Dreams" to have come from a "letter to an anti-Zionist friend" published in a 1967 issue of the Saturday Review, but no such letter exists.

I would point out that for all of King's political and moral failings (he was a Communist, a plagiarizer and a philanderer), Zionism most likely would not be one of them. King was in favor of desegregation and civil rights, not the ethnonationalism and segregation that the Jewish state practices.

I agree with your comments. I believe many who 'support' muhammadianism is because they 'hate' Jews without a valid reason but now Islam is here to give them a 'reason'.

You are a hard-left anti-Semitic troll, the very same kind Dr. King had so resolutely rebuffed.
