A Shi'ite mosque, a house where Hindus were meeting to worship, and a Christian family home were all firebombed, along with other sites. In its daily "American Muslim News Briefs," the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) mentioned in passing that "two nearby homes were apparently targeted by the same attackers," but didn't bother to mention that one was a Hindu worship site, and went on to expatiate about the alleged rise in violence against mosques and Muslims. All acts of violence and vigilantism are to be condemned, not just those against Muslims, but Hamas-linked CAIR is trying to use this incident to enhance its fictional narrative of "Islamophobia" raging out of control and innocent Muslims facing discrimination and violence everywhere -- so as to deflect attention from jihad terror activity.
The fact that so many different places were targeted indicates that this firebomber's motive was something other than "Islamophobia," but that won't stop Hamas-linked CAIR or its lapdog media outlets.
"Media focuses on Mosque firebombed in Queens, ignores firebombing against Hindus, Christians," by Matt Lacy in the Greeley Gazette, January 2:
A series of firebombing in Queens, New York that targeted a Hindu place of worship, an African-American Christian couple’s home and a Mosque is being portrayed by the mainstream media and a Muslim advocacy group as a hate crime solely directed against Muslims.A series of firebombs involving Molotov cocktails was directed against two homes, including one where a group of Hindus was meeting to worship, another home where an African-American Christian couple lived, a convenience store and a local mosque.
The Al-Khoei Islamic Foundation houses one of the most prominent Shiite mosques in New York. According to its website it lists branches in several cities including London, Paris, Montreal and Islamabad, Pakistan. The firebomb, made with a Starbucks bottle was thrown at the door of the center. While the door was blackened, the building did not catch fire.
Police are investigating the crime as an anti-Muslim hate crime. A spokesman for the New York Police Department told the Gazette anytime an attack is made on a Mosque or a synagogue, it is automatically investigated as a bias or hate crime.
The meeting at the Hindu home consisted of two firebombs that did not catch fire, while the home of Monty and Sonya Burnett, who are African-American and Christian, was heavily damaged.
The Burnett’s home was the most heavily damaged of all of the structures firebombed during the four attacks. It took more than 60 firefighters to get the fire under control.
While the bombings were directed at Hindus and Christians as well as Muslims, one would not know that from reading much of the mainstream press coverage of the event.
The New York Times said in the lead paragraph that “police were investigating (the firebombings) as a possible bias crime against Muslims.” Nowhere in the story does it mention the attack on the Hindu worshippers or the Christian family, simply referring to them as houses that were bombed.
The New York Daily News followed a similar lead. While the article did mention the other attacks were on Christians and Hindus, the headline read “Four firebombs, including one tossed at Queens Mosque, eyed as hate crimes.”
Other headlines by various papers included “Islamic structure firebombed in Queens, three other structures attacked”, “4 Firebombs hit Muslim targets in NYC” and “Firebomb attacks in Queens hit Mosque in possible hate crime.”
On Monday morning, the Council on American Islamic Relations sent out an e-mail release suggesting the attack was directed solely against Muslims. The e-mail said in the subject line “CAIR condemns firebombing of NY Mosque.”
The e-mail went on to say that Ibrahim Hooper, National Director for CAIR said the organization is calling on local police to boost patrols near mosques and advised members of the Muslim community to review security procedures.
Nowhere in the message from CAIR is there any mention made of or a condemnation of the attacks against Christians and Hindus during the same wave of attacks.
Instead, Hooper focused exclusively on the Muslim component saying “a number of recent reports have documented the growth and promotion of Islamophobia.”
Robert Spencer, founder of Jihad Watch said the media spin shows the favoritism Muslim groups are given to the exclusion of other groups and that CAIR is simply trying to use this attack to portray Muslims as the exclusive victims in this case.
“Implying the attacks were directed solely at Muslims is obviously false and self-serving. It seems as if whoever did this is opposed to foreigners or religion in general and to say this is exclusively a Muslim hate crime is a politically motivated claim.”
Spencer went on to say that CAIR’s ignoring the firebombing of the black Christian family and the Hindus shows the agency’s isn’t really interested in hate crimes against other groups but simply want to use the attacks to their advantage.
“CAIR did not mention anything about the Hindus or Christians when they issued their release. This just shows how self-serving their claims of victimhood really are,” Spencer said. “They called for increased police patrols against mosques, but they didn’t say anything about calling for protection for Hindu or Christian places of worship.”
"A spokesman for the New York Police Department told the Gazette anytime an attack is made on a Mosque or a synagogue, it is automatically investigated as a bias or hate crime."
There's the first problem. The NYPD openly declaring that Jews and Muslims are both protected groups under the current ultra-politically correct climate in the US, while crime victims who religiously identify as Christians or other non-protected religious groups are not even eligible for a "hate crime" designation.
As despicable as that is, and as utterly stupid the entire hate crime label is, it does speak volumes to the collective media silence or muting if you will, to the current widespread persecution of Christians and other non-Muslims by Muslims in Egypt and other Muslim-dominant countries.
Remember, under the false banner of universal equality of PC and multiculturalism, one attempted firebomb attack on a mosque in the US, still not even vetted as an actual crime yet, carries more weight than all the persecuted non-Muslims, specifically Christians, in the Middle East.
"The e-mail went on to say that Ibrahim Hooper, National Director for CAIR said the organization is calling on local police to boost patrols near mosques and advised members of the Muslim community to review security procedures ".
Hey " Honest " Ibe !
I thought that you didn't like the police hanging around mosques.
Are you going to ask the Muslim community to cooperate with law enforcement now ?
I somehow doubt it..
These liars of Islam have lied for last 1400 years and they still continue to do it because they know it works!! in the seventh century poor Meccans were blamed for persecution of Muslims whereas it was other way
These liars of Islam have lied for last 1400 years and they still continue to do it because they know it works!! In the seventh century poor Meccans were blamed for persecution of Muslims whereas it was other way around and now they continue to blame all non-Muslims for the crimes they commit against all of us. What hypocrisy -- non-Muslims should learn from their modus operandi if we have to win this propaganda war with them1!!
This Hooper knows exactly what he's doing. His reasoning for not mentioning the other locations is that he wants to convey a specialness, a seperation, a higher level of crime, as if to say, it's o.k. for a Christian home or a Hindu location to be firebombed, but how dare you firebomb a Mosque. This is a blatent arrogant Muslim supremacist PR tactic meant to elevate Muslims and decrease the importance of non Muslims. That's his job !
There's one whole incident of a non-Muslim attacking an American Muslim institution violently and we're supposed to immediately think some non-Muslim did this?
Don't miss the coverage at BNI itself:

That goes for you folks from the DHS. You might learn something. Dont' miss the story a few posts down at BNI about Tommy Robinson of the EDL in Britain. Robinson notes that they have quite a few of these "hate crime" firebombings in Britain that turn out to have been staged by the muslims themselves, in their case to attempt to blame the EDL.
A Shi'ite mosque?
Looking at abroad and taking everything into consideration, I'd say the likeliest explanation is that some Sunnis are demonstrating some Tolerance™.
The painful thing about CAIR and its mission is that it has many willing collaborators who are Jewish and Christian. These people promote interfaith dinners and interfaith events, implying that all the problems can be solved by a greater understanding and contact with each other.
I'm wondering if CAIR is focusing on the many Muslims in the US who do not belong to any Islamic organization and who would be just as happy without any Sharia. CAIR likely has the objective of persuading these Muslims that they are under attack, and that they need to join CAIR for protection.
This point of view makes other actions make sense. For instance, CAIR's opposition to police surveillance is actually an attempt to make uncommitted Muslims feel that they are subject to abuse by law enforcement agencies without CAIR protection.
The primary focus of interest groups is generally on likely sources of new members and new money. CAIR is focusing on Muslim: it's interfaith partners and the media in general are irrelevant for its purposes.
This brings to question why the New York Times would go along with this very narrow view of events. As the size of news organizations grow, they become indistinguishable from the government: they take the path of least resistance.
The place to get real news and opinions now is not the major news media, but the smaller internet blogs.
The US is now the primary outpost of free internet posting. The European countries are cracking down on dissent, particularly anti-jihadist dissent. The European Union is putting its resources into a soft totalitarianism which aims to enforce conformity and silence.
The only conclusion one can draw is that there is, or will soon be, a concerted push to bring the wild world of the internet under further government control. Look for the laws of libel to be extended so as to harass the small, shoestring blogs out of existence.
That was my thought exactly! The Sunnis hate the Shia as much as they hate Christians and Hindus. There is a high probability that this attack is an Intra-Mohammedan conflict that engulfed Hindus and Christians as well.
I am not at all surprised that CAIR goons did not include the Christian home or the makeshift Hindu temple in their statement. They are not anti-violence; they only oppose anti-muslim violence. The muslims have perpetuated this hypocrisy for 1400 years and will continue to do so. They are the most violent and aggressive, yet they continue to play the victim card readily. I agree that this firebombing was likely done by a sunni. The sunnis hate all non-sunnis.
Victimhood scam. .the clincher for me: 'the Starbucks bottle'.
"The fact that so many different places were targeted indicates that this firebomber's motive was something other than 'Islamophobia,' but that won't stop Hamas-linked CAIR or its lapdog media outlets."
I'm surprised that no one has yet claimed that it must have been an atheist who firebombed the places. Atheists are the usual whipping boys of self-righteous Christians.
The Constitutional right to equal protection under the law does not seem to correlate with the media coverage of crime. No doubt CAIR's statements are expounded as the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help them Mohammad's Allah (the "great deceiver" of the Qur'ran).
T'at wuz a trifle bitter Skeen. . you wouldn't happen to be a self-righteous atheist, by any chance, would 'ya ?
So, the mosque was bombed because of "islamophobia"?
No, the accused, Ray Lazier Lengend, of Guyanese descent, says he bombed it because they had refused to let him use their bathroom facilities.
He bombed the convenience store because they had earlier caught him trying to steal some things, and he wanted to "get even".
One of the houses he bombed belonged to a relative, and the other house he hit by mistake while trying to get somebody else he'd had an argument with.
Sorry, CAIR. No islamophobia this time.
Without a body-count to conduct, I have a few questions.
Such as the state of the property, who holds the deeds and whether there's insurance or financing invlolved?
And, as I indicated; with no body-count, I'd speculate on provocation and victim propaganda - quite reasonably, as CAIR is so interested and vocal.
