Muslim U.S. soldier who tried to join jihad terror group wanted to die defending Islam "with a gun in my hand"

Here again, logical, rational argument is not the strong suit of many Islamic supremacists. Craig Baxam, for one, preferred shooting. More on this story. "Former US soldier Craig Baxam 'helped al-Shabab,'" from the BBC, January 10 (thanks to David):

A former US Army soldier has been charged with trying to help Somalia's al-Shabab militant group.

Craig Baxam, 24, was arrested by Kenyan authorities in December as he tried to cross the border into Somalia.

An affidavit released by US prosecutors alleges that he planned to offer several hundred dollars to the militant group, which has links to al-Qaeda, and to serve as a fighter.

He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted, prosecutors say.

Mr Baxam, who lives in a Maryland suburb outside Washington DC, flew to Nairobi on 20 December and attempted to travel to the Kenyan-Somali border by bus and taxi.

He was arrested by US officials when he arrived back in the country on 6 January.

The US has designated al-Shabab a terrorist group, and the group has sought to recruit Americans to fight in Somalia.

Mr Baxam joined the army in 2007 and was trained in intelligence and cryptology.

He previously served in Iraq, returned home and then re-enlisted. He was deployed to South Korea for one year beginning in August 2010.

The affidavit alleges that he converted to Islam secretly after reading an Islamic website while serving in Korea.

Travelling to Somalia held appeal for Mr Baxam because he wanted to live in a country where he believed Sharia law held sway. He no longer believed he could live in the US, prosecutors say.

The only places that were acceptable, according to the affidavit, were Taliban-controlled areas of Afghanistan, part of Somalia controlled by al-Shabab, and in the southern Philippines.

Mr Baxam is quoted as saying he wanted to die "with a gun in my hand", and that he would be happy to die defending Islam.

When told that during interviews with the FBI that al-Shabab encouraged beating people who were seen in the street during prayer time, Mr Baxam allegedly replied "that is awesome".

While the affidavit does not describe exactly how Mr Baxam was found, it does say he was wary of searching for al-Shabab on his computer because he was "aware of the capabilities of the US government".

He also believed his travel towards the Somali border captured the attention of Kenyan authorities, who arrested him before US embassy and FBI officials questioned the former Army officer....

Well, apparently Allah didn't think he was worthy so he didn't will it...Don't his actions constitute declaring war on America? Why is he in court when according to Dajjal Obama and Newt, you can just take him out in a field and send him to Allah, or send a drone? Why is he being given 'due process', when it is clearly against US policy?

That was awkward.

However, I'm surprised. I was expecting a pencil-necked geeky white dweed with bcs (the thick black plastic glasses referred to as Birth Control). Got a link, btw? I looked but couldn't find a photo of the quisling.

Thus again, islam knows no race. The marginal (psychopaths) of all creeds are drawn to the evil of islam like moths to flame.

I'd still like to know which "race" I'm "racist" against because I hate islam. I can surmise that I'm racist against whites because I hate the kkk. And I can deduce that I'm racist against Germans for hating naziism. But damned if I know which race I'm racist against for hating islam.

Hey loonwatcher! If I hate Christianity am I racist? If yes, against whom? Whites? Hispanics? Asians? Blacks? If no, why not? How about rape and pedophilia? Am I racist for hating both practices? If I have a special hate for the adherents of nambla am I racist? Again, against whom?

From the article - "The only places that were acceptable, according to the affidavit, were Taliban-controlled areas of Afghanistan, part of Somalia controlled by al-Shabab, and in the southern Philippines."

Funny: I wonder why he didn't want to go to *the* Arab Sunni Muslim homelands, Saudi Arabia or Yemen? He's presumably Sunni, so that would exclude the heartland of Shiite Islam, Islamic Iran?

Thought for the day: why not simply declare his American citizenship null and void, let all non-Muslim lands (including Russia and China) have his full description and all identifying particulars (with instructions, Do Not Admit This Person Over Your Border, He's Not Ours Anymore, We Don't Want Him, You Can Shoot Him If You Deem That Necessary) and (once he's served whatever sentence is due) drop him off in al-shabab Somalia or in the worst hell-pit of Afghanistan. One is reluctant to increase the Muslim population of Mindanao and the resultant headaches for the Filipino non-Muslims, except that it's perfectly possible that the assorted tropical diseases to be encountered in abundance in the depths of the jungle might finish this western-reared human off pretty quickly once he's out of range of modern medicine. The thought of this traitor perishing from quinine-resistant malaria or from dysentery brought on by dirty water is, I must say, attractive.

Those who convert to Islam can no longer function as loyal citizens of their birth nation; not if they are consistent followers of their new Cult, not if they are loyal members of the Mohammedan Mob, the Ummah.

The more devout, the more strictly and consistently and enthusiastically Muslim they become, the more likely it becomes that they will attack the non-Muslim persons and institutions surrounding them, in order to impose the sharia order, in order to add their homeland to the turf controlled by the Ummah. They are, in effect, taught to become *traitors*.

(In that regard, the Mohammedan view that apostates from Islam are traitors, is yet another example of projection: for Islam commands and teaches persons of societies not ruled by Muslims, to *become* traitors to their homelands).

Here is a copy of a posting that was made two years ago, here at jihadwatch, by regular poster 'kamala'. I can't provide a link, as it was posted while we were using Intensedebate, and all postings made in that format did not 'roll over' when we returned to Typepad. Fortunately, I had made a copy.

Kamala quotes extensively from a book 'Even Angels Ask' by an Anglo-American convert to Islam, one Jeff Lang.

This is what Kamala wrote:

'Jeff Lang is an American Muslim convert. Unlike most Muslims we hear about around here, he's very honest and I believe truthfully working toward a real transformation of Islam into a peaceful ideology. He is accomplishing this in part by steadily analyzing many of the "authentic" hadith and demonstrating that they cannot be true.

'But as Robert has pointed out many times, one can only reform what one admits has a problem, and Lang readily does, in his 1997 book "Even Angels Ask."

'What does Lang have to say about the impact of Islamic jurisprudence?

LANG: "A minority of Muslims ... believes that we must remain cognizant of the historical context of Muhammad's actions and sayings and that if we are to apply his example correctly, we must be alert to the many differences that exist between his time and ours...

"The main assumption behind the stricter approach [which is taken by the majority - dda] is that the best and most efficient way to derive moral and spiritual benefit from Muhammad's life example is by imitating him as closely as possible." (p. 104)

Further:

LANG: "Almost all Muslim religious leaders ... uphold the classical dar al Islam/dar al harb concept ...

"This poses a very difficult personal dilemma for many converts, because **it seems to them that to become a Muslim, they are required to become enemies of their own countries.** {my emphasis - dda} "(p. 119)

'And Lang writes of his own experience attending a Muslim lecture at an American mosque in the early 80s:

LANG: "The second lecture was given by Hisham, a very bright medical student who had been studying in America for almost two years. I liked and respected Hisham very much...

"Hisham spoke that night about a Muslim's duties and responsibilities... His speech was very moving and had been running about an hour when he closed it with the following unexpected and stern remark.

HISHAM - "Finally, we must never forget--and this is extremely important--that **as Muslims, we are obligated to desire, and when possible to participate in, the overthrow of any non-Islamic government--anywhere in the world--in order to replace it by an Islamic one."** {my emphasis - dda}.

"Hisham!" I [LANG] interrupted. "Are you implying that Muslim American citizens are to commit themselves to the destruction of the U.S. government?--

"That they are to be a fifth column in America--a secret revolutionary group seeking to overthrow the government?

"**Do you mean that when an American converts to Islam he must commit himself to political treason?!"** {my emphasis - dda}.

"I [that is, Lang - dda] thought that by presenting Hisham with a very extreme scenario, it would force him to soften or qualify his statement.

"He looked down at the floor as he pondered my question momentarily.

"Then he looked at me with an expression that reminded me of a doctor about to break the news to his patient that his tumor is malignant.

"Yes," he said. "Yes, that's true." (p. 117)." END QUOTE.
