The Muslim Brotherhood denied on Saturday that it had assured Washington it would uphold the 1979 Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty.
US State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters on Thursday that the Islamist movement, the clear victor in the first round of elections for the Egyptian Parliament, pledged to honor the various treaties signed by previous Cairo governments, including the peace deal with Israel.
Nuland insisted that the various political parties in Egypt have offered the US "good guarantees" that the peace treaty will be observed. She stressed that Washington fully expects all of Cairo's political factions to honor the previous regime's international agreements.
Dodging the issue:
According to Essam al-Erian, deputy head of the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice party, the accords "are under the responsibility of the people and state institutions, and it would not be right for anyone to speak on behalf of the Egyptian people."
Speaking to the London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Hayat, al-Erian said, "We are not in a position to give assurances."
The message depends on the audience:
Rashad al-Bayoumi, the Brotherhood's second in command, told Al-Hayat las [sic] week that "the Muslim Brotherhood will not recognize Israel under any circumstances and might put the peace treaty with the Jewish state up to a referendum."...
The Brotherhood, he added, "did not sign the peace accords… We are allowed to ask the people or the elected parliament to express their opinion on the treaty, and (to find out) whether it compromised the people's freedom and sovereignty. We will take the proper legal steps in dealing with the peace deal. To me, it isn't binding at all. The people will express their opinion on the matter."...

Contemporary examples include this 1979 Israel-Egypt "agreement" (for which Sadat, Egypt's signer, paid with his life), the Oslo Accords (1993), Israel-Jordan agreement (1994). muslims never intended to abide by these.
Hudna is the Islamic process of covenant or peace treaty with non-believers. It is not meant to be kept. There are two reasons that Hudna is important to Islamic nations and militant groups.
# One is to gain concessions in the peace process. Get everything you can so that it will be easier for you when you break the peace treaty and you will be stronger as a result. In essence the Muslim nation would want to utilize the peace process to make their next conflict more favorable to them.
# The second reason to go through with a Hudna is to regain your strength. It is a time to lick your wounds in essence. Gain troop and supplies strength. To gain support from other Muslim nations or anyone else that can make you stronger for when you break the truce that the nonbelievers are inept enough to believe that you will follow through with.
We can only trust muslims to behave as muslims.
Once again it reminds us of how naive our state department and politicians are about Islam. And to think we actually pay these people to negotiate on our behalf while they remain clueless about those they are negotiating with.

This is either wishful thinking on the part of Foggy Bottom, Taqiyya (re honoring the peace treaty) on the part of the MB, or both. I suspect both.
It's sad to see the gigantic non-Muslim pop. of the U.S. stand idly by while Pres. Obama nourishes the Muslim World so that it can get strong again and finally finish Israel off. Meanwhile Obama's many speeches touting the virtues of Islam are accepted without question although they're packed with lies.
I can't prove it in court but I suspect that it's GEORGE SOROS behind it all. As a child he pretended to be a Catholic to get past the Nazis instead of standing up for his Jewish people, and now I suspect that he thinks of tiny surrounded outnumbered Israel as another lost cause, and is cutting it loose for his personal survival: 13 million Jews vs. 1.x billion Muslims, a no-brainer with him.
How many of our past presidents have been Soros men? It may have started as early as Jimmy Carter - think of that. They don't just have to be Democrats - he's been infiltrating the Republicans for years. The difference is that he uses the Republican presidents to stink America up by wasting resources in useless wars, and the Democratic presidents to act as princes of peace to end the wars then render the U.S. completely defenseless.
Now there's his Red Queen RON PAUL, who I suspect is a Soros man, hoping as president to pull the U.S. military out of the Middle East entirely so that Iran can nuke it and the rest of the Muslims finish it off, while he will only employ our forces to stop Israeli retaliation against Iran by pretending to believe their denials.
When I see Obama, Clinton, Carter, Paul, or any major U.S. politician say they love the Muslim World, I get antsy. It's not about the Muslim people themselves, it's about whom they're supposed to emulate, Muhammad. It's those who finally do that I hate, how about you? It's the Muslim World not Israel that one day must become kaput if the world is to live in peace and freedom.

On this point, I'd go easy on George Soros--or Abraham Foxman, for that matter, even though the latter sees Storm Troopers lurking behind every "Jews for Jesus" proselytizer. The Nazi genocide of the Jews was a very frightful thing for which the world was not at all prepared (and while I can only condemn in strongest terms the Turkish genocide of Armenians and Assyrians, I note it was a very slapdash and inefficient thing compared to the mass murder of Europe's Jews). To "stand up" for occupied Europe's Jews at that time involved allowing them to disguise themselves as non-Jews, subverting deportation and extermination attempts, and the like as well as taking to the forests and fighting as partisans. And, since Soros was probably very young at the time, my guess that this was his parents' way of keeping at least a part of the family alive.
Also, I've seen the relatively softer authoritarianism of Taiwan under martial law, and even there, "standing up" for too dangerous an opinion (Communism, Taiwan Independence, open organization of non-Guomindang parties) carried a price.
It's one thing to stand up for a principle where there's still some respect for law and the dignity of the human person; quite another to do so under a very ruthless regime.

I am *no* fan of George Soros, TL—but I wouldn't expect any lone Jew—especially *a child*—to have been able to "stand up for his Jewish people" in the face of the Holocaust. Just surviving that horror was an accomplishment.
None of that, of course, excuses what he had become today...
