Afghanistan: Seven U.S. troops wounded in attack on NATO base; Afghan intel officer identified as Interior Ministry assassin

Apology after apology has only conveyed the message that Afghans are justified in their all-consuming rage and ongoing lethal tantrum. "Seven U.S. soldiers wounded after Afghan NATO base attacked," by Fraidoon Elhaam and Hamid Shalizi for Reuters, February 26:

KUNDUZ/KABUL, Afghanistan (Reuters) - Seven U.S. military trainers were wounded on Sunday when a grenade was thrown at their base in northern Afghanistan, police said, as anti-Western fury deepened over the burning of the Koran at a NATO base.

Despite an apology from U.S. President Barack Obama, riots raged across the country for a sixth day on Sunday against the desecration of the Muslim holy book at a NATO air base at Bagram. Some protesters hoisted the white Taliban flag.

The Afghan Interior Ministry identified one of its employees as a suspect in the fatal shooting of two U.S. officers in its headquarters a day earlier, an attack that prompted NATO to recall its staff from ministries.

One civilian was killed, 15 more were wounded and three policemen injured in riots near the NATO base in northern Kunduz province, where the blast that wounded the Americans took place, regional police chief Samihullah Qatra told reporters.

NATO confirmed there had been an explosion outside one of its bases in northern Afghanistan, but declined to comment on casualties.

The protests have killed 30 people and wounded 200, including two other U.S. troops who were shot dead by an Afghan soldier who joined rallies in the country's east.

The Koran burnings could make it far harder for NATO forces to win the trust of the Afghan public as they try to stabilise the country ahead of the withdrawal of foreign combat troops at the end of 2014.

Afghan security sources identified Abdul Saboor, a 25-year-old police intelligence officer, as a suspect in the shooting of the Americans at close range inside the Interior Ministry.

In a statement to media, the ministry said: "An employee has been identified as a suspect and he has now fled. The Interior Ministry is trying to arrest the suspected individual."
NATO is supposed to be moving away from a combat role to an advise-and-assist mission as early as next year. That will require NATO to place more staff in Kabul's ministries.

CCTV footage showed that Saboor had access to the Command and Control Centre, tucked deep inside the ministry, where the slain Americans were found, security officials told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

The Taliban took responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for the burning of the Korans.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai repeated his plea for calm and restraint. "It is time to regain and preserve our calm, and not allow our enemies to misuse it," he told reporters, referring to the nationwide violence.

The Koran burnings could make it far harder for NATO forces to win the trust of the Afghan public as they try to stabilise the country...

Harder? What does that mean? They have only been trying for a decade...I wonder how much longer till these fools realize they are shoveling stuff against the tide and the stuff keeps attacking them? Maybe it's time to get the stuff out of there...

Blame the Saudi-handholder Bush for not recognizing evil and airing the most perfidious, destructive meme of the 21st century, "Islam is a religion of peace". Then blame the Al Azhar Reichstag speechmaker Obama for magnifying and perpetuating it.

One of these days I'm going to have to stop daily readings of JW and other sites exposing the truth about islam.

The endless, fatal idiocy of the muslims, and the corresponding stupidity (or cunning?) of our "leaders" and their failed policies is reaching critical mass in my brain.

Then finally blame the wealthy, career-obsessed generals for carrying out illegal orders to stand up Islamic sharia states which are inhospitable, nay, deadly, to non-Muslims, without making a wimper of protest, much less quit on principal.

Where are all the so-called moderate Muslims condemning the killing of people for burning books? And where are their apologies to non-Muslims for their Muslim brethren acting like barbarians? So far their silence, except to continue whining about book burning, is deafening. Telling and damning too.

Frankly, the non-Muslim world must eventually conclude that ALL Muslims are part of a huge problem. The huge problem, of course, is Islam. Islam is not a solution to anything good. It is only a menace, an aberration, a pathology, a tragedy, a problem. No reforming it. It's got to go. There's nothing good in it which can't be found elsewhere and it has rot in it which is hard to find anywhere else.

Don't quit yet I.N.D. . The game is far from over, and the best part is still swinging in the balance. .

...with the exception of Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin, the only well-known general who has shown the dignity of his rank by demanding we judge Islam by its fruits--terrorism, bigotry, and retrograde anti-humanism, and who was virtually banned by West Point for doing so, to that institution's everlasting infamy and cowardice.

I am so sorry for the fresh killing and wounded ….for just burned paper … just burned useless paper that has PRINTED words supposedly from Allah ….

I have seen Muslim burn American flag … manny times ….a flags that represent the pride of a nation BUT, it is still a piece of cloth … if they burn a flag of American they are not burning America

If the tropes weather by mistake or not, burned the Quran, they did not burn Muslims ...

.no one gets outraged and kill Muslims and cause harm for doing that …

I am so sorry for the loss of lives for burning of a book that worth 10 dollars … little more or little less …but a printed 10 dollars book …

I am ashamed I was ever part of this madness called Islam .

Dear brothers

As I said years ago, right after the Sharia Law-based Constitution of Afghanistan was ALLOWED by the Western forces: the war was just lost.

It has remained lost ever since.

And as for the effort at "winning hearts and minds"?

What hearts? What minds?

"Apology after apology has only conveyed the message that Afghans are justified in their all-consuming rage and ongoing lethal tantrum."

That's exactly what it shows.

Maxpublius makes an excellent point!
Americans elected a rich, spoilt, AWOL brat who was raised on Saudi wealth. Saudis knew that and launched 9/11 on Americans from Saudi Arabia (yes, most of the hijackers were Saudis and those who were not, got their visas stamped in Riyadh. Read http://old.nationalreview.com/mowbray/mowbray100902.asp ).
But right after the attacks, instead of freezing Saudi assets, instead of kicking out Saudi Ambassador, instead of recalling US ambassaor to Riyadh, what does Dubya do? He releases Bin Ladens out of US (when ALL US flights were grouned) and, from an Islamic Center, spits on Americans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_ZoroJdVnA
Needless to add, Bush conctoted evidence against Saddam (coincidentally, Saudi's worst enemy) and invaded Iraq. ( Check: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuAg-tOsrWU) thereby, covering-up Saudi Arabia from 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Readers will recall that AFTER 9/11, Bush DOUBLED, yes. DOUBLED same student's visas that were used in 9/11 attacks ( http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1999287/posts ).
Good point, Maxpublius!

I am there with you. My brain is beginning to congel. I want action not just talk, nice thing though is that more people are waking up, so manybe it is all for the good.

The way I see this is that OBAMA needs to apologize more for the Koran burning on TELEVISION for the World to see more clearly how TOLERANT and good we are. Also he needs to send Hillary "ALONE" to Afganistan but with BURKA on to show that we respect their customs and their religion of peace. This would FINALLY make them see what they have been missing for centuries that we mean well and we are nice people. That way they will stop killing us there and here in the USA. This will give us an oportunity to build bridges with the MUSLIM WORLD. That way we wll leave in PEACE with PEACE loving MUSLIMS forever. Just a bit more tolerance goes a long way in the WORLD OF ISLAM as there is no COMPULSION in ISLAM. I can go on and on about how wonderful this TOTALLY MISUNDERSTOOD CULT is.

You know that at the book makers they do not wear white gloves when putting this koran book together nor do the sellers of the book by this title.
Nor do the loggers that cut down the trees to make the paper. Could be that dogs pissed on the tree or rats ran amoke in the branches. Nor the ink makers nor the people who service the machines that make this dreadful book. So give me a break, but also a movie should be made on the whole process and the burning of this book in the past. A BBC documentary or PBS. I would watch as long as it is factual and brave. None of this nonsense like 'When the moors ruled spain' beautiful but slanted against the west.

There may actually be a silver lining to this bloodstained cloud: the radicalization of an awful lot of well-trained military personnel who are daily being wised up to the spuriousness of the sheepsh*t spewed by their lickspittle commanders and the odious administration that directs them. They'll remember in November -- and thereafter.

Yo Sam, yes and what roll can Ron Paul play? I thought when Obama was elected and wanted all the world to love us thru his apologies and being a mulitcultural kind of guy, left wing professor, hapa black, nice smile, growing up with a koran in the house, going to a muslim school for a bit and praying to allah, etc, etc, that all would be well in the universe and the angels would sing. But gee, I guess that we need to do more. Clinton in a burka, why not? She could walk behind Ron Paul if they went together to show respect for the muslim sensibilities.

FL56, nice comment, thanks for that. To me, and probably most non-muslims, it is always a reward to see an apostate, exhibit courage, humanity’s and civilization’s intelligence, conscience, and the humility of goodness that is part of the underlying ethos of the West, after leaving the deadening and dumbing effects of hate brainwashing, and complete illogical behavior, that is the essence of islam.

This topic’s posts, so far show many timely comments, as well as Wellington’s typically erudite entries.

LJ and IND’s posts, are great, too, as it is so hard to live the “Ground Hog Day” syndrome, day after endlessly renewing day, with no change in circumstance. Bill Murray portrayed the hard time enduring those endlessly renewing days, as with the endless repeating global crimes of the pious islam gang bangers, that never stop and the lame reactions of the world never cease or change, in their stupidity. The leadership of victims everywhere, display irresponsibility to criminal extent, in the face of reality.

A worthwhile read on this crazy “Ground Hog Day” lifestyle we lead is here:

Interior Ministry. Intelligence officer.

Oh boy. We gotta' get out of there, and pronto.

My sincere sorrow for the families of the dead.

Meaning no disrespect, as I too share much of the frustration with the lack of awareness of truth of the criminal gang, which is shared BTW, in Christie, Romney, and Paul, not just Bush (all four of which are clueless of the full knowledge of the gang), but this entry refutes Bush concocting up the WMD charge. There existed much good reason for the mistake of currency of intel, which is going on in this day, and will continue. It is part of intel, that currency of intle does not remain constant, it varies. It is known that Syria has chem, bio, and not clear about what nuclear is inside Syria. Part of the kid glove foot dragging going on in taking down the one who has them under wraps, Assad. Stupidly, no one cared about the weapons stores of Libiya, which had at least manpads. Intel is not a simple button press operation. Nor is analysis. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpsUdgTWITI to see Saddam's top man, speak of WMD's that he had, and sent to Syria, BTW. In several interviews of him, I note he holds back on intel of other OIC nations weaponry. Hint, big trouble to come just from Syria, or maybe they are offloading some weapons to their buddies in iran, for irans el quds assistance? Or Lord knows where?

Bush wasn't without fault, but had much less than, Hussein, Carter, Clinton, Kennedy, etc. IMHO, roughly in that order. And I'd rather have Bush than Hussein any day, but much prefer others. It is clear that Newt and Rick at least understand much of the criminal gang bangers, no matter any other flaws. No one is living without flaws, so I still say, PICK YOUR POISON, AND PICK IT WELL!

I would take bets that this killer will never face justice and US will not insist upon it either they don't want to get Muslims more upset.

Islam stimulates blood-lust, which can either be directed at Infidels are other Muslims deemed heretical. No system which encourages hate and domination can lead to peace and true democracy. Instead, it will either cause tyranny or chaos.
The US ambassador to Afghanistan said that we must stay there to prevent al Qaeda or the Taliban from taking over, but what's the big difference between that and what rules Afghanistan now?

Oh, forgot to include, I agree that maxpublius had fine point regarding Boykin, BTW.

When oh when is the U.S. going to wake up to the fact that when you apologize to uncivilized people, they will still kill you! All they understand is strength by force. Anything less is viewed as weakness. islam makes you crazy!

Islam - the most irrational System known to Mankind. It is a real shame that many good Americans also embraced it, hence keeping it active on our shores.

"Where are all the so-called moderate Muslims condemning the killing of people for burning books?"

Exactly right, Wellington; yes, where are they? No, instead they remain silent, or they strike out at those condemning these killings and then insist that not all muslims are violent, and that islam is really a religion of peace, etc--which is irrelevant to the muslims who ARE being violent. Makes one wonder if moderates even exist at all!

Blast it, writing to fast, have other things to take care of, but regarding Boykin, on other interviews of his, he made apologetic and appeasing remarks of the West Point affair, so even he has some needless apologetics. They were dissappointing to behold, as I saw his interview. Not fully sure of what is going on, but I know evil of the gang when I see it, at least, and of grievous behavior of the regime, on multiple levels.

I am appalled at the refusal, and laziness, to learn, to be scholarly, by so many in various leadership positions, from the people who enabled the muslim criminal judge in Pa, recently, (re: the zombie mo-ham case) through those who elected a troubled not very bright Christie, on up.

Apology after apology has only conveyed the message that Afghans are justified in their all-consuming rage and ongoing lethal tantrum.
...................................

**Yes**. We've spent ten years there trying to civilize these barbarians, and they are as bad as when we first went in. Islam has a way of doing that...

And Afghan "intel officers" and "police" and "military" are barely any more trustworthy than some goatherd with a kalashnikov hiding in a cave...

This isn't really "anti-Western" fury—really, it is just anti-Infidel fury.

Uh—this whole thing is so indicative of a fantasy-based world-view that it is hard to know where to start. The idea that NATO—or *anyone*—could "stabalise" Afghanistan (in the Western sense) within the next few years if only we *hadn't* taken some Qur'ans out to the incinerator is just ridiculous.

My guess is that they'll have the savage Taliban back in power and be stoning women in the streets again within a year of our pulling out—singed Qur'ans or no singed Qur'ans.

Of course, the Jihadists will crow over how they have driven out the godless Infidels when we go—but they will do that in any case.

We shouldn't lose any more good people—not *a single one*—to this stinking Islamic hell hole.

Well said, TJ. Continuing to see nefarious and corrupt motives respecting why Bush invaded Iraq is tedious, off base and just plain wrong. Bush should have invaded Iraq and removed a totally unstable brute in Saddam Hussein, a despicable man who, it should never be forgotten, was thought by every major intelligence agency on earth to still be hiding WMDs. Bush's mistake wasn't complicity with nefarious elements but rather naive idealism (as opposed to realistic idealism as evidenced by Presidents like Lincoln and Truman) which led him to believe that Islam is innocuous and that all people yearn for freedom. He was wrong on both these counts. What he should have done is to have looked for a Mubarak type kind of Iraqi (if really lucky a Mustafa Kemal type) and substitute him for SH. Amazing how many people still get this wrong, be they the Bush haters or the ones defending Bush too much.

Thank you for your worm post

As Arab Ex Muslimah emigrant, I am still and will ever be surprised that America has not YET ROUNDED UP ALL Muslims and told them simply ... GO BACK WHERE EVER YOU CAME FROM.

I would not blame them ..... in fact I expected ..because where I came from not only will they kick people they do not like out, they will try to kill them.

civilized people like you still have the patience and companion to still LET PEOPLE IN, WITHOUT THEM PROVING SELVES TO BE PEACEFUL TO BE GOOD ENOUGH TO LIVE IN THIS OPEN AND LOVING COUNTRY ...
Where I came from ... children are not save from bullet in the head if they are not the same religion or sect.
I intend, When the day comes and I will be asked to leave because I am a Muslim [because my papers says so] I will announce my apostasy ...

I could imagine the frustration, shock and complete loss at trying to understand these Muslims motives for committing these condensed acts of inhumanity and hate against anything not Muslim.
The thing is... Muslims have this complete and utter blindness to anything else mixed with hate and ignorance

My hearts cries ... I do not cry any more ... there is no more tears to shed ...

The Muslim people that I call family are under attack by there brothers ... other Muslims ...who call them self peaceful Muslims...@#$%$

If Muslims have no mercy for another Muslim ... how can we expect a Muslim to have mercy on a non Muslim ...

there isn't any MERCY IN THEIR BLACKEST HEARTS...

Islam's regeneration, fineliving56, has come at precisely the time when the West is less sure of itself than ever before. The West shouldn't be such but it is, courtesy of mindless PC/MC garbage (the Modern Left created this nonsense, as it has created so much other nonsense, and it is completely blind to this error as it is to all its other errors).

Just as it was fortuitous, from a Muslim point of view, that first generation Muslims advanced out of Arabia at precisely the time that the Byzantines under Heraclius and the Sassanians of Persia had mutually weakened themselves, so is it the case that an ever parasitical Muslim world is now re-energized with Western technology and Muslim demographics to take advantage of the West at one of its lowest points.

Instructive, I would argue, that Islam seeks out weakness to advance itself. It always has and always will. Shame on it for this, and such is the nature of the parasite, but then when do Muslims ever feel shame other than when not advancing their warped creed enough? Goofy world, in part courtesy of Islam, in part courtesy of present Western mindlessness. It's going to be a close call whether Islamic totalitarianism or the best of the Western tradition will prevail. I'm betting on the latter but not by a lot.

The Pashtuns were always the promoters of the arabization of the entire country. Only they invited al-qaeda to hold genocide camp traiing in the country. And GWB chose to put a Pahtun with drug industry connections into the role of jihadi-in-chief, at a cost of billions of US funds and thousands of US casualties.

Send Boykin and Ollie and some real butt kickers, fight your way to the airports and then to the border with all the assets you can bring and muster from in country along with as many heavy weapons as we can transport in a short time. Bring all of it to bear including our best air resources with as much prosecution as our military can muster. Kill anything in your path, bomb as much infrastructure as you can and get the hell out of that crap hole once and for all and come home.

See ya, dont wanna be ya. Have a nice day.

When will they realize that you can never win the hearts of a people who believe in your annihilation. To think otherwise is sheer stupidity and after a decade of trying, don't you think any moron would have realized by now that there is no hope, that you have to understand who you are fighting.

Thank you for reminding me....I couldn't agree more. But, I'll keep on reading right here. I must; we must. You must.

I've taken on a new perspective from the examples shown here on this most desperately needed website which is indeed performing a national service, although it is not seen as such ( I hope I'm very wrong...) by the majority of our work-a-day population.

The horror of that September morning in 2001 seems to have faded, and I cannot help but note our national semi-indifference right now to the realization (despite all the American blood strewn about so far away) that we Americans are indeed a continuing target of militant Islam, right now, right here, inside our borders.

Our Islamic enemy is dormant among us.

Those of us of a certain age remember Pearl Harbor....still. The contrast of 2012 with the anti-Japanese ferver of 1942 is disgusting.

I cannot image Franklin Roosevelt apologizing to the Japanese about the oil embargo of the late 1930's.

The horrific contrast in every possible aspect between these two Democrat Party Presidents is impossible to catalogue.

How many times does a person have to kiss someones arse before they figure out that it isn't going to help. Get the hell out of that camel country and let them destroy themselves. At least they are killing muslims. This will continue until they get someone in the White House with some balls. But if you think about it obama is doing this on purpose to get the muslims worked up so they will fight the infidels around the world making it easier for him to establish islam as he has planned.

So one of the assassins was a trusted intelligence officer. Looks like another case of Sudden Jihad Syndrome , which occurs when a devout Muslim starts feeling guilty about working with the despicable kafir and sees killing kafirs as a means of atonement. IMHO any devout "moderate" Muslim is a potential assassin or terrorist - how can they be trusted?

IMO the sooner we get out of these mid-East Islamic hell holes and leave these morons to go at each other's throats the better.
