Bangladesh: Muslim mob misunderstands Islam, attacks Christian missionaries on suspicion that they were converting Muslims

How did this mob get the idea that there was anything wrong with Christians converting Muslims? Muslim spokesmen such as Salam al-Marayati, M. Cherif Bassiouni, and Ali Eteraz (among many others) have assured us that Islam has no death penalty for apostasy. So why couldn't Christian missionaries preach to Muslims in Bangladesh? I expect that al-Marayati, Bassiouni, and Eteraz will immediately be jetting over to Madarganj to explain to the Muslim mobs that they're getting Islam all wrong, wrong, wrong, and should stop bothering these Christian missionaries immediately.

"US missionaries injured by Muslim mob in Bangladesh," from AFP/NEWSCORE, February 29 (thanks to Twostellas):

MADARGANJ, Bangladesh -- Three American missionaries were injured in northern Bangladesh on Wednesday after their car was attacked by a mob who suspected they were converting Muslims into Christians, police said.

Police arrested two teachers and a student from an Islamic seminary in Madarganj, 120 miles (200 kilometers) north of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, following the attack.

At least 200 angry locals chased the missionaries' car and threw stones at it, leaving three with cuts from broken glass, the district police chief said.

The missionaries were part of a group "of seven Presbyterians who were attacked by the Muslim villagers. They have been given first aid and moved to a safer place," Abdur Razzaq told AFP.

The US citizens were accompanied by a Bangladeshi Christian convert to assess a piece of land for setting up a church, a school and a hospital to conduct missionary activities in the largely Muslim area, he said....

Obama should apologize to the peace loving Muslims for the disturbance caused by these infidels=christians. The US citizens should be tried for defaming Islam and should be fined to finance the futball field in Guantanamo. This is what I would call justice.

Apparently Muslims are so fickle minded and lacking in steadfast religious conviction that they can't be trusted to resist Christian evangelism.
Hence the resort to violence by their Jihadist minders.

To all Muslims everywhere: Shame on you all, every last one of you. Your religion establishes terror as a way of prohibiting the free exercise of religion. If your damn religion is so enlightened, then why should it threaten bodily harm or death for those who seek to convert Muslims to another faith? What are you afraid of? Free inquiry?

Telling. Damning. I wonder if most of you Muzzies realize how telling and damning it really is. I highly doubt it. But note well that the non-Muslim population of the world is taking increasing note of how pathetically insecure you are in the aggregate. The non-Muslim population of the world is also becoming exponentially aware of the rank hypocrisy by which Muslims can seek converts to their faith but non-Muslims who are religious cannot, without threats of bodily harm or death, seek converts of Muslims to their faith of choice.

Your religion is a highly proselytizing one. OK, no problem with this. You seek converts from other religions to your own. But why don't you accord to other religions the same courtesy? The fact that you don't speaks volumes about the totalitarian nature of your faith. Shame on you all. Every last one of you. What a burden to all mankind Islam is.

“We are Muslim, we are happy to live in ignorance of anything not Muslim. New thoughts do not interest us because our prophet has delivered to us everything that we need to know. We are closed-minded and happy about it. We do not want to receive new information. We continue to have the wish that the rest of the world become as closed minded as we are. Ergo, the need to conduct jihad, Islamic holy war, until the whole world is subjected to Islam.”

How possibly can we ever think that we might be able to reason with this sort of corrupted thinking.

here is the question Wellington: where is our president demanding an appology? it is really nasty here in NYC.

Really sad to read this. Bangladeshi people are a really strange lot. On one hand they still use the Bengali script which is a Hindu script (trying to give a simplified explanation here for the readers), then they also find pride in people like Rabindranath Tagore and other famous Bengalis who happen to be.......Hindu.

Then on the other hand they have this rabid hate for Hindus, India and everything non-Islamic.

Why don't they just start using some Islamic language and deny their Bengali Hindu roots and just claim they are Arabs like Pakistan tries to do all the time?

They are a strange bunch.

Regardless, it would be nice if the Christian population grew and was able to challenge these psychopaths so that perhaps some sort of peace and stability would reign in that country.

because setting up a church, a school and a hospital are Un-Islamic..

And where is Fayzal Mahamed, to accuse the victims of being "racist" for being Christian in a Muslim-majority area?

17 times a day, devout Muslims say a prayer that, according to mainstream Islamic scholars, means Jews have earned God's anger, and Christians have gone astray

So say scholars like Ibn Abbas, a companion of Muhammad, and Ibn Kathir, the Muslim world's most widely respected Quran expositor.

First I'll give you the prayer, next Ibn Kathir's and others' explanation of the lines he says refer to Jews and Christians.

Qur'an Chapter One (prayer to be said 17 times a day):

"In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,
the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Master of the Day of Judgment,
Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help.
Show us the straight path,
The path of those whom Thou hast favoured;
Not the (path) of those who earn Thine anger [Jews]
nor of those who go astray
[Christians]."

Here is Ibn Kathir's explanation (if you click this link, scroll about 2/3 of the way down the page when you get there):

"(Not (the way) of those who earned Your anger, nor of those who went astray) meaning guide us to the straight path [Islam]...help us to avoid the path of those whom Allah is angry with, whose intentions are corrupt, who know the truth, yet deviate from it. Also, help us avoid the path of those who were led astray, who lost the true knowledge and, as a result, are wandering in misguidance, unable to find the correct path...These two paths are the paths of the Christians and Jews, a fact that the believer should beware of so that he avoids them...the Jews abandoned practicing the religion, while the Christians lost the true knowledge. This is why `anger' descended upon the Jews, while being described as `led astray' is more appropriate of the Christian...We should also mention that both the Christians and the Jews have earned the anger and are led astray, but the anger is one of the attributes more particular of the Jews..."

Here is a companion of Muhammad, namely Ibn Abbas, expatiating on the same two lines:

"...(Not of those who earn Thine anger), not the religion of the Jews who earned Your anger, whom You forsook and whose hearts You did not protect until they became complaisant. (Nor of those who go astray), nor the religion of the Christians who erred from Islam..."

And here is what the Tafsir al-Jalalayn, another widely used interpretation of the Qur'an, says about the two lines:

"...not [the path] of those against whom there is wrath, namely, the Jews, and nor of those who are astray, namely, the Christians. The subtle meaning implied by this substitution is that the guided ones are neither the Jews nor the Christians..."

17 times a day!

For more nuance, here's Robert Spencer on the same prayer.

because setting up a church, a school and a hospital is Un-Islamic..

The Muslim way of thinking is that Islam is the most rational, logical religion. That Muhammad is prophesized in the Bible. They ACTUALLY believe it,they have to,the Koran says it.

Sorry OT ...

I received an encouraging email update today regarding Youcef Nadarkhani, and in the subject section it read:

"Amazing Youcef news"

It's amazing.

A vote is scheduled on a bipartisan resolution calling for the release of Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani. Tonight, time is scheduled for the U.S. House of Representatives to discuss his plight and a vote is expected to occur Thursday morning.

In just one week, your voice moved Congress to action. We are just hours away from a Congressional vote in support of Pastor Youcef.

Take action now to urge Congress to support Pastor Youcef and religious liberty around the world.

In just a few days, this bipartisan resolution has gained 61 co-sponsors. We believe every Member of Congress should vote in support of religious freedom and Pastor Youcef's courageous stand.

If you are one of the more than 170,000 people who have already signed this petition urging Congress to call for Pastor Youcef's release, thank you.

Please take a moment to share how people around the world are uniting in support of Pastor Youcef by using the Facebook "Like" buttons in this email.

The congressional resolution is strong, clear, and direct. It "calls for the Government of Iran to exonerate and immediately and unconditionally release Youcef Nadarkhani and all other individuals held or charged on account of their religious or political beliefs."

It is not just the United States taking action. Governments, international media, and people all across the world are speaking out for Pastor Youcef.

The ACLJ's Tweet for Youcef campaign is reaching over 900,000 Twitter accounts each day in over 87 percent of the world's nations. We have already seen that this global effort is having an impact in Iran, but we must keep up the pressure to save this persecuted pastor's life.

Take action. Tweet for Youcef today, and share his story of faith and courage in the face of death. Thank you.

Jay Sekulow
ACLJ Chief Counsel

P.S. Pastor Youcef’s plight has united people of all faiths and political persuasions for religious liberty and his release. And if you've already signed the petition--thank you!

The petition can be found here if you would like to participate in helping Youcef ...

Good to see Congress actually take an interest in this case, Champ! Kudos for all the good work you've dome on this.

And I was finally able to sign the petition—I'd had a problem with the link before.

This is sad. Pathetic, especially when you consider the Bangladeshi people are among the best of the lot. There are a few other countries where it would have gone worse for the Christians.

Great! ...thank you for signing it, Gravenimage :)

Yes, I felt so encouraged after receiving that email from the ACLJ this morning; and anyone who signed their petition received an email update, as well.

"The petition can be found here if you would like to participate in helping Youcef"

Truthfully, I couldn't find the petition at the link.

Hi, RonaldB ...

Oh, once you click on the link, then you'll find "SIGN Our Petition" in the upper right hand corner. Thank you!

Hey champ, don't apologize for being OT -- we're grateful you are taking some action.

I signed.

Thank you so much for signing the petition, Traeh!

You know that one story about making a movie of Mohammed was a great idea. They should also start making cartoons lampooning those idiots who riot over every little insult to their worthless god. Really. Start distributing cartoons and hopefully maybe they can embarrass, shame or humiliate these morons from doing these things. Who knows. The movie promoter made a good point. Most of these morons are illiterate. It's really pointless trying to bring their attention to the written word. But everybody watches movies or better yet the internet. Worth a try.

Hi champ. I've several times tried to sign the petition, but once I've completed everything and clicked on sign, it keeps coming up 'cannot display the web page.' I'll keep trying. But very well done for all your good work on this.

Do you actually *read* the posted article, before ranting ?

In what way are these people being 'racist' ? All they want to do is provide muslims with knowledge of Christianity, so they (muslims) can then make an informed choice between Christianity and islam. (no contest, in my opinion.)

You say:

'' In fact the Bangladesh authorities should use their legal system to charge and lock up those racist Christians for trying to convert Muslims in the "open market square".''

Why ? What crime are they committing ? Charge them with what ? Your illogic is breathtaking - on the zombie mohammed thread you say the judge was quite right to let off the muslim scumbag because he didn't know the law, and that Mr. Perce deserved to be *physically assaulted* ( a clear breach of the law) because the muslim toerag considered himself to be 'offended' and 'provoked' by Mr. Perce wearing a costume.

And now you're blathering about 'racist' Christians who deserve to be locked up for merely trying to spread, peacefully, and without *physically assaulting* anyone, what they believe to be the true word of God. Are you able to see the disconnect here ? Probably not. islam rots the brain and the soul.

Are you also going to rant about *muslims* proslytising in *Christian* countries ? Dawa ring a bell ? CAIR offering free quran's to infidels ? mosques running 'interfaith' days to try to convert the infidels ? Do you see these muslims being 'charged', and locked up ? Do you see Christians chasing dawa practioners and throwing stones at them ? Of course you don't.

Because we live in a civilised Western society that allows freedom of religion, unlike the cesspits of islamic countries. And because most Christians aren't insane, frothing at the mouth, spoilt brats having tantrums. You might want to ask yourself why muslims are so terrified of Christian missionaries - could it be because, deep inside, they *know* their foul, murderous cult can't stand the light of day.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't bother replying to someone who who has no concept of reciprocity, justice, or the Golden Rule, but you need to be refuted - we might have people reading, new to this forum, who don't fully understand what we're up against.

From my post of February 29, 2012 3:26 PM:

And where is Fayzal Mahamed, to accuse the victims of being "racist" for being Christian in a Muslim-majority area?

Fayzal Mahamed, from his post of March 1, 2012 4:31 AM:

What's wrong with so many racist Christians. If they are not proselytyzing their racist Christianity in India then it is Pakistan. If not Pakistan then in Bangladesh.

...I have no sympathy for those racist Christians either. In fact the Bangladesh authorities should use their legal system to charge and lock up those racist Christians for trying to convert Muslims...

My advice to racist Christians ....."BEWARE!!!!"
..................................

Boy, I had to ask...

Boy oh boy; old Frazzled Hamhead is realy going for an arse of the year award. So by his warped logic I have to assume that St patrick St Augustine St Columba et alia were all raving racists. Mmmmm something wrong there. Keep taking the tablets Frazzle.

Hi, Jan ..sorry you're having trouble with signing it, and thank you for trying. Good luck!

You are going to wear out your welcome by blathering your lunacy here, day in, and day out ...

And you are either blinded by hatred, or you're completely out of your mind. Probably both.

Fayzal,

It really makes no difference whether you like Christians or not. They still have a universal right to free speech.

This is Human Rights 101, which unfortunately many Muslims would flunk it would seem.

"Therefore to many Christians on this JW forum. Stop being racist. Stop liking or disliking a person on the basis of his or her religious beliefs, race, gender, sexual orientation, culture, nationality etc".
--
You are free to say what ever you think is right and truthful. But lets not forget that it is Muslims that blow non-Muslims up and then laugh about it. It is Muslims that behead non-Muslims and then laugh about it, It is the Muslims that throw acid in the spouse because she may have done something he didn't like. It is the Muslim that believes "honour killings" are neccessary to please Allah. It is the Muslim who's mission is to dominate the world by any means neccessary. It is the Muslim that teaches thier young that Christians, and Jews kill and eat little Muslim girls and boys. It is Muslims that burn the churches and kill the members of that church because they are non-Muslim.
It is Muslims who come to the United States and then try to change our laws to appease Muslims by imposeing Sharia Law. It is Muslims that call for the death of all Non-Muslims. It is Muslims that murdered 3000 people on 911. Do you get the picture?

I'd say Islam and or Muslims have brought any negitivity spoken onto themselves. Here in the U.S.A. we simply call that the truth. If you don't like the truth then start by changing your ways.

Fizzle Mohamhead:

"Therefore to many Christians on this JW forum. Stop being racist. Stop liking or disliking a person on the basis of his or her religious beliefs, race, gender, sexual orientation, culture, nationality etc."

STOP TELLING US WHAT TO DO OR THINK.

Fayzal gives new meaning to CONTROL FREAK ..

But with the added handicap of not providing a reasonable or intelligent argument that could possibly convince any reader. I didn't realize that such a thing was possible until now.

Fayzal Mahamad wrote:

I prescribe to the universal right to free speech just like you Teri Adams but there are limits to the freedom of speech and exactly what those limits are is what this debate is all about. Americans want to suggest that their limits to the freedom of speech is the ideal. I am saying that those limits are not necessarily correct and we have to see those limits from many different perspectives and form the conclusion to what are those limits through a process of dialogue and debate. Unfortunately many Americans are not prepared to accept that their limits to the freedom of speech may not be so ideal and are not prepared to admit as much.
......................................

Fayzal Mahamed reads a story about brutal supremacist Muslims attacking peaceful Christians on a rumor of converting Muslims in Bangladesh, and his conclusion is that this is a debate over whether Americans have too much freedom of speech.

*Unbelievable*.

Mahamed's idea that we should carefully engage in "dialogue and debate" with all the oppressive thugs in the world who want to crush freedom of speech, and weigh that tyranny equally with both the freedoms of Americans and the hopes of the oppressed around the world—who fervently hope they can have such freedoms some day—is simply perverse.

He seems to imply that we Americans are stubborn about admitting that we 'need' to limit our freedom of speech—well, he's right.

In fact, I—and many other Americans—are willing to fight for our hard-won freedom of speech.

Fayzal Mahamed wrote:

Robert Spencer and Pamela Gemmer (sic) are suggesting in this article that the freedom of American Muslims to express their religious beliefs be curtailed. Thank goodness we have Americans such as Gravenimage to tell Robert and Pamela
"How dare you try and limit the freedom of speech of Muslims because Americans are prepared to fight for American Muslims to express themselves with no limit to such freedom"

RIGHT ON !!! Gravenimage.
................................

Fayzal Mahamed is referring to this article, here:

"Number of mosques in U.S. nearly doubles since 9/11"

He wrote:

Why is it that not one member of this JW forum has stated that the "preaching hatred of infidels and justifying violence against them." by Muslims should be allowed because the freedom of expression in America says it should be allowed. All I have seen are comments on how this freedom of speech should be stopped.

Iy seems that the freedom of expression does not fit comfortably with Americans when the "shoe fits the other foot".

What a bunch of HYPOCRITES.

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2012/03/number-of-mosques-in-us-nearly-doubles-since-911.html#comment-862066

This means that Fayzal Mahamed is claiming that we can only consider ourselves true champions of freedom of speech if we espouse the preaching of violent Jihad and the enabling of Jihad terror.

Please note also that he actually admits that the preaching of violent Jihad is an intrinsic expression of Islamic religious beliefs.

Yet another indication that Islam is not compatible with the free West.

Hey, dumb ass. Simply put, you're embarrasing yourself. It's probably too late to comment but I just had to say you're not fooling anybody. If you think you're convincing in the least it just speaks to your idiocy.
