Egypt has long been among the top recipients of U.S. aid, getting about $1.6 billion annually, mostly in military assistance. In fiscal 2012, $250 million of aid approved for Egypt was economic; $1.3 billion was military and there was a $60 million "enterprise fund" approved by Congress.
No U.S. assistance is moving to Egypt at the moment, U.S. lawmakers and their aides said last week. Some legislators favor cutting off aid to Egypt entirely if it does not drop accusations against American democracy activists and lift a travel ban on them.
Obama continued the practice of putting proposed foreign assistance for war zones in a separate account. This account, known as the "Overseas Contingency Operations," includes $8.2 billion for the State Department and foreign aid.
It includes $3.3 billion for Afghanistan, $1 billion for Pakistan, and $4 billion for Iraq, where U.S. troops have left the country but the State Department has picked up some of their functions such as police training.

A recently read speculation intimated that the real struggle was doctrinal (Sunni V Shia) between Saudia Arabia and Iran. Since Pres kissed the ring, a lot of money and resources has focused on Iran, as they would perhaps focus on wiping out The Kingdom way before Israel. At least Carter didn't respond to the Iranian hostage crisis by giving $1.5 billion in foreign aid to the mullahs. Yet that's the equivalent of what Obama is doing now. It's getting to a point where it takes effort to imagine how his foreign policy could be any worse.
I've said this over on my blog, but this is infuriating. Other than fueling the Islamist agenda and expanding America’s $16 trillion dollar deficit waistline, throwing away hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to promote the “Arab Spring” will do nothing. Why not just donate stacks of greenbacks to the homeless who are freezing right now throughout Europe? They could put it to good use and burn it for some much needed warmth. But it seems that he'd rather aid the “Arab Spring” in an effort to somehow instill sudden, fuzzy-warm feelings in the hearts and minds of Islamists instead.
I really shouldn’t be surprised that Obama has again made a decision void of reason. What else can we expect from a man who repeatedly demonstrates himself to be ‘the vice of reason’ virtually every time he opens his mouth? Needless to say, this news story should be very upsetting to every Christian who is well aware of the detrimental consequences that the “Arab Spring” has had on Christian communities throughout North Africa and the Middle East. Instead of aiding these Islamist revolutionaries, he needs to be drawing attention to the plight of Christians being murdered by them, doing everything he can to demand an end to the relentless persecution. Jimmy Carter got himself bullied into giving away the Suez Canal to Egypt and the Panama Canal to Noriega's Panama. On top of that, they promised to be nice if given lots of money. Of course, Jimmy caved in and did what they told him to do. At the time, I wasn't sure if he wanted to be so generous with our taxpayers money and the sacrifices of lives in the building of these canals. However, it wasn't long before I became convinced that this was of his own greed for popularity amongst the dictators and communist leaders of that hemisphere. The Asians took these actions as American weaknesses. The rest is history. Today it appears our own people are hell-bent on destroying our country and the Asians know, when our country fails, all western countries will fail. Asian countries are doing their best to assist our failures so in the end, they can divide the pie. This is something to think about when we go to the polls to vote come November. By the way --- Communist China now controls the Panama Canal and notes every ship that passes through, thanks to Jimmy.

I am more astounded by the number of people who rail against insanity like this because they object to it "not being in Israel or the US interests", rather than dealing with and railing against the REASON that things like this happen. And have been happening since the 1950's. They are completely missing the point that should be the focus of their anger.
Obama is ALL for it. Congress WILL approve it. YOU can do nothing to stop it. It is happening because the United States Military Industrial Complex has the money and influence to MAKE SURE it happens. Egypt, Pakistan, et al -- they take the money and buy American weapons, American munitions, American parts for the weapon systems, American training and experts.
Big Business. That's what this is all about. The Mega-Corporations who make up the Military Industrial Complex have no moral base or ethics. They are perfectly happy to sell to Israel, then turn around and sell to Egypt's new Islamic supremacists. Or to the two-faced Pakistan. If they could, they'd gladly sell weapons to Iran.
You would think this would be an election winner for the Republicans ! Show how Obama aided the Muslim Brotherhood in taking over & creating further unrest in the Middle East.

I wouldn't count on that, Charleston. Remember, Israel supplies Gaza's electricity and most of their medical care, in exchange for rockets, suicide bombers, and calls for their destruction.
Jews can be just as foolish as other Westerners. Just look at the voting record of many Jewish senators and congressmen.
While it's true that someone like Joe Lieberman might be at least relatively sane, remember that current senators include Barbara Boxer and *Al Franken*. And Michael Bloomberg—the mayor of New York City—was all for the Ground Zero Mosque.

Islams best weapon is its ability to use taqiyya when it is neccessary to win the trust of the enemy prior to beheading them. This has been working nicely since the 7th century.
