A man was being held by police on Monday after allegedly trying to set fire to his grown-up daughter in central Paris.Le Parisien newspaper reported that the man sprayed teargas in the young woman's face and then covered her in petrol on Saturday evening.
The father was apparently annoyed that the woman planned to go out with a group of friends that evening and considered her "too emancipated".
The newspaper quoted a source describing him as a "Muslim fundamentalist."
The 23-year-old daughter has a room in a building in the city's 11th arrondissement, close to the Place de la Bastille.
The 49-year-old man went there at around 11.30pm on Saturday evening and started arguing with her in the hall of the building.
He then attacked her with the teargas and poured petrol over her head and face, after which he pulled out a lighter, causing her to scream.
"She managed to grab the lighter from his hands while passers-by heard her screams," said a source close to the inquiry. "The man quickly made a run for it."
The woman told police her father had been harassing her for several weeks. "She explained he was unhappy that she had a Jewish boyfriend," said the source.
Police caught up with the man on Sunday and are questioning him in connection with attempted murder.
The newspaper reported that the man had only recently reconnected with his daughter, after abandoning her as a child.
He had recently taken her to his native country of Tunisia where he had tried to arrange a marriage for her.
She had resisted, while promising to behave in accordance with his wishes back in Paris.

As for the rest of the family, by all means examine their immigration rights and criminal records, but take them on their own merits. The ones whom he "abandoned" may well be desirable citizens. Those still dependent on him are probably victims who would be subject to even more abuse in a Muslim country.
I agree that the daughter should be protected by the West and encouraged to stay. My words intended to target the members of the family that are complicit in this crime, whether by active participation.

Can you recommend a "good" koran, something irrefutable by muslims, preferrably sanctioned by Al Azhar in Egypt? I was thinking of one by Marmaduke Pickthall, but I foresee someone saying that because he was a convert his translation can't be real.

Except that "these steps" are not going to happen and you know it. In fact everybody knows it because the "steps" do not happen by themselves.
The steps specified by you have been listed by many and on many occasions and not only in this blog.. Honestly, Chatillion you can’t really believe that repeating them over and over again, regardless by how many bloggers amounts to little more than chanting slogans in a private gathering until we are all blue in the face.
The steps itemized by you are correct, of course, but they will never be taken as long as our governments, both in Europe and America, are allowed to govern. They must be removed and replaced by government elected by people who are aware of the inevitable collapse of the Christian Civilization if there is no immediate stopping and reversing the muhammedan invasion AND are ready to pay the price the freedom may cost.
We have been talking for years what should be done with the openly anti-western moslems. I think it is time we start talking about what and how to do with the traitors and idiots who are steering the West toward the abyss. Actually, thomas_h, this approach is EXACTLY what I would propose and what I believe is absolutely needed first and foremost in the US, right now. A conservative, militarily ruled (albeit temporary) coup to displace the current malevolent government (in the US and, to a lesser extent, but also needed, in Canada; and DEFINITELY all across Europe, especially the UK) in order to give the muslims the same choice they give non-muslims in muslim-ruled countries, with some exceptions: complete apostasy from islam or immediate deportation to islamic hellhole of your choice, at your expense; revocation of all citizenship and associated documentation; immediate closure of all MB-related institutes and arrest and/or deportation of its members/officers............well, you get the idea. If we don't do this, they (the muslims and their leftist dhimmwhit apologist lackeys) will continue to use our own institutions and freedoms against us.
The ideas ensconsced in the Bill of Rights and under the auspices of the Freedom of Speech have been abused and bastardized from their true intent by those who value neither.
