(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Danish capital, Copenhagen, witnessed a controversy after forcing the students attending Copenhagen Hospitality College to taste wine and pork, which was rejected by the Muslim students and others who abstain from consuming such forbidden foods or drinks.This controversy found its way to the Danish parliament and the Danish Board for Equal Treatment that is looking into the matter. In the meantime, the representatives of the alliance of the left-wing parties confirmed that it is necessary that Minister of education interferes to put an end to the conflict that took place, after a Muslim student who is majoring as a nutrition assistant refused to taste wine and pork, yet the college’s administration confirmed that he will not graduate if he does not fulfill all the requirements of his study, including tasting wine and pork.
Every religious group has its singularities and religious freedoms that ought to be respected; thus, the issue is not subjected to laws and the like. Rather, it has to do with one’s beliefs that if he is asked to violate, he would actually be offending his identity and personality in a community that supposedly adopts democracy and human rights, which we significantly count on, just as we count on many educated and aware individuals who understand these issues and their dimensions…
On the issue of intoxicants, His Eminence, the late Religious Authority, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra), says that the Ayah: “O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination of Satan's work; eschew such (abomination),” (05:90) attributes the same characteristic to the acts mentioned in the Ayah, and that is enough to justify why people should keep away from them and that they are all a form of “abomination of Satan’s work.” Abomination is that filthy thing that one should eschew from. Perhaps this word is used in the form of a metaphor, considering all the damages and negative consequences they entail to the extent that had people known them, they would eschew from them the way the keep away from other clear filthy things…
His Eminence (ra) continues to say: Allah wants people to look thoroughly into these issues to find out their repulsive characteristics that should drive man to avoid them due to the damages they inflict upon one’s life, belief and conduct, rendering them morally filthy… Alcohol intoxicates man and makes him lose his sense of responsibility and consciousness due to the state of intoxication he would suffer from, which drives him away from the reality; thus, making him lose his balance amidst all that…

As for the issue of pork, His Eminence (ra) interprets the following Ayah: “He hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine,” (02:173), saying that it is narrated that these forbidden categories also includes certain worms that are harmful to man’s health due to their harmful nature, including the Trichina worm that nurtures on swine flesh and reproduces rapidly, knowing that it causes several illnesses to man, such as anemia, nausea, fever, diarrhea, pain in joints, nervousness… etc.

Allah organized man’s private and general life; thus, He drew limits to all his private and general affairs and He did not give him the freedom to hurt himself and his life, whether by food, drinks or anything else, for he does not own his own life and he cannot use what belongs to Allah except by His permission. We must learn the lessons of history when it comes to dealing with Islamophobia.
Naziphobia was a similar form of bigotry, exemplified by the notorious Naziphobe Winston Churchill, that regarded all Nazis as potential threats merely because they followed a megalomaniac psychopath who wanted to conquer the world, exterminate the Jews and enslave everybody else.
The arguments against Naziphobia are equally applicable to Islamophobia.
Seems like a take on that business with Pakistani students getting twenty extra university entry points for knowing the koran, while the christains get nothing for knowing their own book. Rank hypocrisy if you ask me.
When I was a little boy in Denmark, a birthday was celebrated by inviting all our classmates - boys and girls - and eating ourselves silly on pork sausages, ice cream and chocolate cake.
We arrived with a shiny 2-Kroner coin for a birthday present and went home again some hours later ......feeling not too good. Our mother only had to provide some entertainment and keep a huge pot boiling. It could be worse. Did we get some sausages down!
I remember looking forward to this! Around 20 times in one year I could stuff myself to the limit. I have no memory of a mother diverting from this tradition.
But as with so many other things, this has changed: there has to be prepared and served an alternative dish acceptable to Muslims. Either extra workload or give up on the pork sausages entirely.
The entire edifice of Islam's basis for complaint and its demands for "respect" and "equal treatment" crumbles if one recognizes and affirms this simple truth: Islam, despite its long-standing and self-serving assertions to the contrary IS NOT A RELIGION.
Reason #1: Religions do not kill or threaten members who leave (cults and gangs do that, not religions)
Reason #2: Religions apply only to adherents. (Islam applies to everyone.)
Reason #3: Religions have a strong or essential spirituality, which is wholly lacking in Islam (I mean, Islamic "paradise" is little more than a Playboy mansion in the sky - where is the spirituality??)
When you understand and acknowledge that ISLAM IS NOT A RELIGION, then all the confusion that is inflicted on dhimmis (mostly be themselves, as a result of blindly accepting Islam as a religion) vanishes....

The whole business started with a woman who went by the pseudonym Amal Aden. In the fall of 2008 she published a book entitled See Us: An Expression of Concern by a Young Norwegian-Somali Woman. It received a great deal of media attention: for the first time, a Norwegian-Somali woman was speaking out against the gender inequality, child abuse, and other abhorrent phenomena that were widespread in her community. One day not long after the book came out, I met Hege for coffee. She enthused over Aden’s book. Soon Aden was working with HRS on a project about genital mutilation in the Somali community. But that winter she left HRS, and in the summer of 2009 everything exploded. Aden went to the Communist daily Klassekampen with a series of absurd allegations about HRS – among them that Rita and Hege were paying Muslim girls a thousand kroner apiece to say that they had been genitally mutilated and forced to wear hijab.
Then on July 2 Dagbladet published a new list of accusations by Aden, including the claim that Hege had forced her to drink vodka and eat pork, presumably in order to prove her lack of respect for Islam – and, oh yes, had also compelled her to look at pictures of acts of bestiality. These charges were not only entirely unsubstantiated, they were ridiculous on their face. As it turned out, moreover, Rita had taped conversations with Aden which proved these inane claims to be unfounded. HRS shared these tapes with reporters for Dagbladet. Yet the media continued to spread Aden’s nonsense far and wide as if every last bit of it had been proven to be true. For weeks, as the summer dragged on, almost every day seemed to bring yet another newspaper article recycling the same accusations against HRS and/or adding a newly hatched bit of transparent claptrap courtesy of Aden. For many of us who have some awareness of how the Norwegian Muslim establishment operates, it was hard not to speculate that there was perhaps more to this situation than met the eye.

How many million innocent people were killed and hurt by Mo and his cronies? Why did Mo die in such a painful manner?
I actually don't see anything in the posting that indicates the claim of the Muslims was untrue. It is well within reason that the requirements of a school for the preparation of food includes the ability to distinguish various foods and drinks by taste.
Obviously, the Muslim students knew of this requirement when they enrolled in the school. Equally obviously, the whole affair is an attempt to carve out special exemptions for Muslims. Taking their logic further, the Muslims would demand that they be instructed and tested only on halal meats. In other words, they would be thoroughly unprepared to actually act as chefs and food preparation experts in any hospitality establishment. Further, unless the school is prepared to maintain totally separate curricula, if the Muslims are able to press their case, it would mean that NO graduates would have training in preparing non-halal food.
I see no evidence of untrue reporting, but I see plenty of evidence of Muslim attempts to co-opt the normal practices of their host society.
I'm thinking that pork sausages would taste pretty good right about now...........

If they don't like it, why are they there? If they want to adhere to their own beliefs, nobody is preventing them from going to live, work, study in a muslim country. We would not attempt to change their traditions if we lived in their homelands, so why do they try to change ours?
Many Jews also do not eat pork and observe KOSHER, but Jews do not want to impose their dietary customs onto others...
Muslim want it all, you give them a finger and they want to grab your whole hand and the body.

Very true, Vlasta. And if they accidentally find pork in their food—say, at a restaurant—they don't get violent and go ballistic; nor do they assume that it was some sort of deliberate plot rather than a simple error.
As I've noted here a few times before, I'm a vegetarian. I wind up with pork broth and bacon on my veggie burger from time to time—especially at restaurants where English is not the first language of the servers.
I just point it out and laugh it off. So do Jews who keep Kosher, as a rule.
Not so Muslims, who want to impose Halal rules *on everyone*.
