Karzai in the television address called the killing of the US soldiers “unfortunate” and “regretful.”He said the recalling of the NATO personnel was “a temporary measure”.
“In situations like the burning of the Holy Koran, Afghan people show sentiments, if this was the reason for the recall, it is rational and if there are other security reasons involved, it is then up to them and we do not disagree on that,” Karzai said.
“Later, once the issue (burning of Koran) is determined through proper investigation and once it is established on who was responsible for the crime, the (recall) issue would be resettled.”
The korans in question had been written upon, and were eligible for islamic-proscribed destruction by burning. The only error made was that they were burned with trash. The rage over this is beyond the pale, and Karzai should be making apologies to the U.S. for this extreme reaction by his insane population.
It is long overdue that all Western forces finish what was started in Afghanistan, and leave. These people are not civilized enough to join the modern world. We need to keep their violence in check, and from encroaching on the rest of the world.

HILLARY ON OBAMA AND BUSH APOLOGIZING
On CNN Hillary Clinton was comparing Obama's apology over the Koran burnings with Bush's apologies during the Iraq War-for Abu Ghraib for example. At Abu Ghraib there was prisoner abuse by US soldiers and prision guards which were wrongs that Bush rightly apologized for. At the Afghan prison Moslem inmates were abusing Korans by defacing them with written messages which required their destruction. Obama apologized from weakness and timidity. A courageous President would have defended our troops and told the truth that they were guiltless of any wrongdoing.

I simply can not believe that Obama adheres to any other faith than Islam. My folks have this same view-that Hussein C-in-C is a taqiyya spitting musulman. Arriving at this view was quite simple for my family. Informing them of Hussein's affinity for muslim eid celebrations while lacking a similar fondness for Easter festivities was conclusive evidence.

Why did the administration not emphasize the fact that the Korans were already defaced, or otherwise authorize the military PR folks to stonewall, or otherwise put out some spin or chaff on this issue? Couldn't they have found a Muslim chaplin to come up with some excuse to justify this, like they were able to do when they found a justification for burying Bin Laden at sea? I seriously think we should have down played this as a routine act respectful of the Muslim faith and never admitted to any wrongdoing.
By the President of the US apologizing for this, not only does he make America look weak, he clearly made the situation worse by broadcasting to all of Afganistan that something wrong happened. Don't we know by now, you do not "make nice" with the Afgan people.
Seriously for $1000 bucks and a few goats they probably could have bought the silence of all involved and just swept this under the rug. Instead we have an administration that bends over backwards to inflame things and apologize, even when they know the invevitable backlash will occur.
