And I apologize to free people everywhere for the idiocy of the government of my country. "Pentagon official apologizes for Quran burning," from AP, February 24 (thanks to David):
STERLING, Va. (AP) — A senior Pentagon official is apologizing to Washington-area Muslims for the burning of Qurans at a military base in Afghanistan.Peter Lavoy, acting assistant secretary of defense for Asia and Pacific security affairs, says the military is investigating and that all troops are being retrained in the handling of religious materials.
Lavoy's remarks were Friday at a mosque in suburban Washington, D.C. They come after protests across Afghanistan over the burning of several Qurans at a U.S. military base. Military officials say 20 people have died in the protests, including two U.S. soldiers....
This official 'apologizing' is becoming more ridiculous by the hour, while they over there continue to riot with abandon for their idol worshipped book. Get real, get a life morons.
This really angers me. Two soldiers are dead because these savage inbreds can't control their hatred for anyone who rejects their awful religion. The Muslims owe US an apology not us them. We should be burning that disgusting book en masse.
And when are muslims worldwide gonna apologize for the massacre of 19 people, including two U.S. soldiers, since those protests began?.
Peter Lavoy - what an embarrassment !
But that's today's military.
The Pentagon has become just another branch of the Department of Social Services.
We need to be out of Afghanistan yesterday.
Burning books is bad but rioting violently, pillaging, vandalizing, destroying, raping, killing, mass murder, genocide... etc is perfectly acceptable. The U.S. is apologizing and submitting to these pathological psychopaths, what a shame and embarrassment for the western world.
I agree that the apologies are pathetic, and that we are seeing the usual imbalance between Muslim and non-Muslim behaviour. It almost looks sometimes like the rationale is something like "How impressive that they have the courage to be so barbaric. Let's reward it".
Still, the apologies are just an attempt to be diplomatic, aren't they? That always costs something. Western powers are in the position to be "the bigger person" (so to speak) and there's nothing wrong with trying to shore up the good relations, or what is left of them.
Better to try to maintain good relations than head down a slippery slope at the bottom of which is the return of the Taliban.
You should have seen the apologizing in Denmark at the time of the Muhammad cartoons.
I remember a photo of a man walking up and down the streets with a placard saying he apologized. Perhaps one of the artists, I cannot say.
Or the woman writing in a newspaper that she apologized for ...well, apparently everything under the sun and below the moon. You name it - tougher laws against terrorism and honor killings f.ex. - it was was merely in order to offend Muslims.
In Europe it is the same ... all coward creeping politicians
Seemingly off-topic, but searingly on-topic:
On October 1, 1995, Omar Abdel-Rahman and nine others were convicted of seditious conspiracy.
What prevents us, legally, from extending that conviction to all Muslims? The only thing I can think of is ignorance of a mountain of data.
Apologist spineless, backbone lacking, boot likkers, all.
They don't have even the courage of many a devout Christian, facing death by the gang, let alone the courage our soldier heroes.
Disgusting.
He called the Qur'an an "accursed book" and once held it up
during a session of Parliament, declaring:
"So long as there is this book there will be no peace in the world."
No apologies!

How can't the Obama Administration's grovelling, sniveling, pathetic, American pride destroying, apology NOT be the end of Obama's hope for reelection? They are kowtowing to lunatic fringe savages with this, It is in no way, shape, or form, unlike America fighting WW2 with bowing to the Nazis or Imperial Japan. When Obama suggested not so long ago that America has "lost it", he was foretelling his future presidency. This is complete madness.
And yet he will be reelected. This is because the Republican party can field no credible replacement. Romney is the corporate suit pitchman. Santorum has emerged as a Christian fundamentalist lunatic. And Gingrich, the natural first choice, has been relegated to third place thanks to the corporate interests and Christian fundamentalists who have backed Romney and Santorum -- even though Gingrich would DESTROY Obama in any debate and end the fiasco of his reign of Islamic empowerment.
Yesterday it was our President today a senior Pentagon official apologizes- what next?
The price we pay for the gas we use in Iraq and Afghan to make their lives better to worth live for. Islam is disgrace to humanity the World over.
Obi's admin should have a vulure, not an eagle, on their ensign-of-office.
Oh wow, we are in a apologizing mode to Muslims. When does our Prez go to all Muslim countries in the world and apologize to its leaders. There are 57 Islamic countries. Let's see if he takes 2 or 3 days going to each country, he ill will be gone for say 150 days and if a week then more than a year. How many days to elections yet?? About 256 days. he will still be on the Apology Tour while a new Prez will elected in the US. Ye'h..., that will be good when does he start on the tour??
How easily they(the Afghans) forget how we helped them: get rid of the Soviets, and 2: get rid of the Taliban.
It's time to get out of Dodge and let the savages sort their own mess out without our assistance.
god forbid if muslims appologize. they are always owed appologies.

Hey Easy,
You said: Better to try to maintain good relations than head down a slippery slope at the bottom of which is the return of the Taliban.
They were given an 'out' paid for in blood and treasure and would STILL rather stay loyal to their idiocy, they deserve each other.
Vulture. .typo
"Better to try to maintain good relations than head down a slippery slope at the bottom of which is the return of the Taliban."
The Taliban never left, and ten minutes after the last NATO troops leave, it will be business as usual in Afghanistan.
With this apology by the Pentagon, and the case of the muslim judge in Pennsylvania, sharia law has come to America.
Don't forget to apologize to Boko Haram...their feelings got hurt too...
Senior Pentagon official apologizes to Muslims in Washington area for Qur'an-burning in Afghanistan

And I apologize to free people everywhere for the idiocy of the government of my country.
..........................
That pretty much says it all, Robert...
After General Gordon was assassinated in Khartoum by the Mahdi's army, General Kitchener was despatched up the Nile to the Sudan in gunboats and amongst his troops was a young Winston Churchill.
They completely routed the Muslims and it stayed that way
Churchill's account, The River War essentially demonstrated that discipline and technology could defeat any horde of these death loving maniacs.
That technology basically was rooted in the rapid firing Maxim gun which forever changed the face of warfare.
We still have the discipline and our technology is infinitely better than the Taliban's. The flat Afghan plain terrain is essentially the same and defensive methods have largely diffused the power of the Stinger which so thoroughly routed the Russians.
Our problem now is that the Taliban are so thoroughly embedded within the civilian population. They hit and run and either via fear or sympathy from the locals, are vanished and protected.
We either warn by leaflets and then decimate those towns and villages (as in WW2 Normandy) or we get the hell out.
It would seem that in todays climate of war, but not as we know it, getting the hell out is our only viable option.
We then ban all Afghan immigration and deport all Afghani nationals.
We tell the duplicitous Karzai no more bumptious demands and definately no more aid. You're on your own.
Then wait and see. The place will collapse. Thousands will die and Karzai may well end up castrated and strung to a lamp post.
That's the price for this intransigence. They had more than enough chances and basically blew it.
Imagine the reaction in the Muslim world? America yet again a strong horse and an entity which they provoke at their own peril.
Historically it seems this is the only way to deal with these Seventh Century savages.
If that's what they want, so be it.
Obama needs to stop this ass-kissing.
SHAME, SHAME, SHAME
Yes indeed, Odumbo is no doubt planning the details of Mea Culpapalooza 2012 as we speak. He better get some of those stretchy waist band dress pants as he will be bowing down to his muzlum masters for real this time, all the way down on the floor on his knees, kissing their filthy feet.
"there's nothing wrong with trying to shore up the good relations"
-Appeasement is always useless. The spoilt brat just comes back with greater demands. The good parent often has to say "no!"
Appeasement didn't work with the nasties (Nazis) and it doen't work with Islam.
Time to get tough.
Indeed!
Kick ass, not kiss ass!
There is enough seditious material in the Koran and Islamic teaching to ban Islam.
Peter Lavoy apologized 3 times in his brief remarks to 1,000 drones at the Silver Springs mosque.
Obama should appoint an Apology Czar! In light of the murders of 2 US troops over this, I sense the public is getting angry over the idiotic, never-ending groveling by this administration - not just readers of JW. Newt has already mentioned it, and I bet the other candidates will do the same.
all the way down on the floor on his knees, kissing their filthy feet.
At first it was hard to imagine that, but then suddenly there it was...I think the Repub party could use that in poster or animation form...If they do, you should get credit...
Peter Lavatory, go home!
We need some high ranking military person to be like Generals George Patton or Curtis Lemay or Admiral Halsey in this our hour of need to speak the truth and not to bend the knee to polical correct lies.
The Korans were not burned willfully or maliciously but because it was being used by enemy POWs as a conduit for passing messages and posting inciting statements. It was Afghan prisoners who defaced the Korans by writing these statements. This is what a retired Marine said about this incident:
This latest example was provoked by a gaggle of angry Afghan protesters who were reacting to a story that the Koran or even several copies of the Koran had been disposed of – unceremoniously. If anyone had read the actual account, they would have learned that the copies that were discarded and burned belonged to EPWs (Enemy Prisoners of War) being held on Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. They were confiscated when it was determined that the EPWs were using the Koran as an illicit messaging system to communicate with one another.
For those of you who do not understand the implications of that little piece of information, allowing EPWs access to one another, overtly or covertly, increases the chances of everything from an escape attempt to violent acts against their guards. Removing the Koranic message pads was not only good judgment, it was necessary and may have saved lives – American lives.

Islam is evil, a religion that must be eradicated from earth if the human race is to survive. The USA owes Muslims no apologies for anything. Rather, Muslims need to apologize for their wicked acts against the human race, the perpetual breaking of every commandment especially "Thou shalt not kill", and be converted to Christianity. They worship their sexual pervert Muhammad and Koran over the real God.
Well said, logdon.
Ima
Seconding that.
The best part of logdon's posting:
"We then [after getting our soldiers out of Afghanistan, and ending all 'aid'/ jizya/ tribute to Afghanistan - dda] ban all Afghan immigration and deport all Afghani nationals."
There are a few Afghans here and there, in various parts of the world, who have abandoned Islam and have embraced and are actively practising Christianity; *they* can stay, though it would be wise, bearing in mind the hideousness of Mohammedan taqiyya, to place these known apostates on a sort of parole system which, if they *are* genuine apostates, they will fully understand the need for, and will be only too happy to comply with.
Bring back Douglas Macarthur to sort this out. There will be a conga line of dhimmi apologists bowing & scraping soon.
duh-swami - thanks just sayin' it like I see it....
God, this is embarrassing, humiliating--all for NOTHING! Look, can we just stop apologizing, tell these savages to eat poop and get the hell out of there, already?
KABUL (Reuters) - Twelve people were killed on Friday in the bloodiest day yet in protests that have raged across Afghanistan over the desecration of copies of the Muslim holy book at a NATO military base with riot police and soldiers on high alert braced for more violence. The burning of the Korans at the Bagram compound earlier this week has deepened public mistrust of NATO forces struggling to stabilize Afghanistan before foreign combat troops withdraw in 2014. ...

More apologies, and now from the Pentagon no less! ..it's like adding insult to injury to the American people since the Pentagon was also involved in 9/11. WTH!
Respect is a two way street this one way street has to stop just leave the place it's not worth dying for. Come back to the 21 century guys and enjoy your life.
Let's write to Congress (www.congress.org):
Dear Representative:
Qur'ans were used in Afghanistan as a means of communications by the enemy combatants. Those ciphers/communiques were intercepted, confiscated, and destroyed so the enemy combatants could never have access to them. But, because Sharia law forbids the burning of Qur'ans, our President is apologizing and promising to follow Sharia law instead of U.S. law. The same tactic is used when enemy combatants hold up in mosques, and are assured of a safe place to hide and from which to shoot at U.S. troops. The same tactic is used when human shields are used and killed, and the responsibility is placed on U.S. troops instead of those who use human shields and the U.S. pays blood money (prescribed by Sharia law) to the families of human shields, accomplices, and jihadists themselves. Our troops were used like this for ten years with their hands tied and the enemy combatants protected by Sharia law. This weakening and killing off of our troops was only used to procure Islamic democracies with Islamic Constitutions enforced by Sharia law. Now, President Obama has sent our troops to Africa to fight against the only opposition force to the genocidal jihad conquering the oil-rich countries of Africa. This outrageous and seditious waste of the lives and health of U.S. troops must stop.
As a member of the United States Congress, I am asking and expecting you to put an end to enforcement of Sharia law by U.S. troops, to redefine the parameters when fighting against Islamic enemy combatants, to place the responsibility for using human shields, mosques, and Qur'ans squarely on the shoulders of those who use them, and to prohibit and forbid U.S. troops from being subjected to Sharia law, officially or unofficially. Let U.S. troops only be used to support the U.S. Constitution, let them only answerable to U.S. law, and only be deployed when the safety of U.S. citizens is in eminent jeopardy. Station U.S. troops at U.S. borders and stop them from being used as pawns in the Muslim Brotherhood's global jihad.
The Taliban never left, and ten minutes after the last NATO troops leave, it will be business as usual in Afghanistan.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, and the first one to get it will be the corrupt, two faced Khazi I imagine?
Wouldn't a parrot be more appropriate?
It's when I read comments like this... ...is when I wish there were a "thumbs up" button on Jihad Watch.
@logdon: "We tell the duplicitous Karzai no more bumptious demands and definately no more aid. You're on your own.
Then wait and see. The place will collapse. Thousands will die and Karzai may well end up castrated and strung to a lamp post."
Suspect this will be the natural outcome in primitive Afghanistan, the Taliban/Islam/ Koran idol worshipping moronic, atavistic, God forsaken excuse of a nation. Karzai will be strung up by his balls.
We had overstayed in Afghanistan same as in Iraq. They are truly beyond help, as it is impossible to befriend and nation-build ignorant savages whose 'religious' teachings make you their enemy in perpetuity. Islam is beyond help, no matter how much treasure and blood is wasted on them. No apologies, pull a Kissinger "peace with honor" crap, and just get out.
Reject Primitive Islam and you are free to stay here in our civilized world. All others, the door please, so we can live in peace.
I commend President O' Bama for apologising on behalf of Americans to Afghans for the "HATE CRIME" committed by US Soldiers in burning copies of the Quran in an Islamic country.
The burning of the Quran by US soldiers was akin to throwing a flaming match in a room soaked with gasoline. While I utterly condemn the killing of the soldiers and other innocent Afghans caught in the mayhem of riots, I can understand the inflamed passions that Afghans are experiencing.
Imagine if for a moment I carried a placard down a New York street stating it was a good thing that Americans were killed in those Twin Towers because Americans represent "Satan". Imagine also that some American felt so inflamed and incensed a my placard that he took out a knife and killed me. Will Americans be cheering and defending the killer or will they be defending my right to carry a placard in the name of the freedom of speech.
I know what my answer to the above question will be but I will leave it to you to give me an answer?
@Fayzal: "Imagine if for a moment I carried a placard down a New York street stating it was a good thing that Americans were killed in those Twin Towers because Americans represent "Satan". Imagine also that some American felt so inflamed and incensed a my placard that he took out a knife and killed me."
Totally false analogy, Fayzal. More correct analogy would be Koran was responsible for death and murder of tens of millions over the centuries, taking additional tens of millions as captured slaves, and saying those killed and enslaved were represented by "Satan", and then imagine someone so inflamed by such death and genocides that they stabbed the Koran carrying supremacist Islamist parading his 'holy' pretext for crimes against humanity. Now, that is the more correct analogy to yours, and not the death and murder of three thousand innocent people equated with that sorry-ass piece of Allah's literature fiction. Capisce?
So, you're comparing a couple of folks privately burning trash to a public display
of disrespect for the victims of 9/11?
Another dazzling example of muslim logic...
I'm beginning to like posting on this forum. It's like debating "WHY YOU SHOULD NOT HATE A BLACK PERSON" with the KLU KLUX KLAN.
Fortunately Americans have a sensisble President in President O' Bama
@Fayzal: "I'm beginning to like posting on this forum. It's like debating "WHY YOU SHOULD NOT HATE A BLACK PERSON" with the KLU KLUX KLAN.
"
You are absolutely right in your analogy here: KKK=ISLAM
Who could reason otherwise? Fun stuff, no?
Based on the logic you displayed above, you have no reason to like posting on this forum, Fayzal. I called you on your first ridiculous analogy--and then--rather than defend it--you toss out another one with that smarmy KKK-thing. Really, Fayzal, it's like duelling with an unarmed man. But, if you enjoy making a fool of yourself, be my guest!
Hi George ...you are so right about Fayzal; and you missed another thread where he made several wild claims that anyone "proselytizing" for their faith--whether they're Christian, Jew, Hindu, etc, it doesn't matter to him--he claims that PROSELYTIZING in any form is a hate crime, as well. I kid you not! Yeah he's really out there stating that EVERYTHING is a hate crime, according to him ...pffft!
...oh, and would you like to know which thread?
You write a lot about hate, Fayzal ...hmm, do you suffer from it yourself? Methinks so!
Hi Champ!
So, I couldn't talk him out of embarrassing himself--Good! LOL! Yes, do tell me where he's pontificating--and I trust the faithful here are filleting him like a fish sandwich? I tried to tell him...
Regards to you, my friend!
G
Hi George! ...yeah here's the thread:

Fayzal's first comment is at 2:44AM, and then the more radical comments that follow it are the ones I'm really talking about. Hmm, where have I heard those lies before? Please help me, George, lol!! ..enjoy :)
Who were the Security Managers over there?
They need firing, like yesterday!
Stated Problem: Prisoners' effects, including Qurans, Korans, or whatever possibly containing hidden messages. So, what should be done? Two possible answers:
1. Burn them in public view in front of "The Enemy" or those who will become "the enemy" while, at the same time violating proper security protocols. Result: All of the worst possible outcomes come true. This is exactly what happened because somebody was working without a functioning brain.
2. Treat the stuff as Sensitive material of possible intelligence value. Seal it up in plain brown wrappers, mark it, and outer wrap it with a proper stateside address and send it back to the analysts. Just like that disaster recovery company with the green vans, "Like It Never Even Happened"......Then, it gets processed and leaves the scene as anonymous pulp, without attribution or attention. THIS is what SHOULD have happened.
Like I said, somebodies need firing.....
In every society there are those persons that will portray a hatred towards other persons or groups of persons. In South Africa we have our fair share of white people spewing hatred towards blacks daily through the media.
I've no doubt that in Israel there must be many Jews who have a perniscious hatred of Muslims and vice versa in Palestine there are plenty of Muslims hating Jews.
In my opinion JIHAD WATCH is such a group. Although it poses as an internet forum for debate and information, it's contributing members consist, by far and large, persons who seem to have a perniscious hatred towards Muslims and the Islamic religion.
It is in this context that I state that debating on this forum is like debating "WHY YOU SHOULD NOT HATE THE BLACK PERSON" with the KLU KLUX KLAN.
Fortunately, Americans are not represented by JIHAD WATCH. They are represented by a sensible, decent and dignified President in the form of President O'Bama who had the courage to immediately apologise on behalf of ALL AMERICANS (including Jihad Watch) for the hate crimes that were committed by US soldiers in burning the Quran.
The problem with this forum is that the "MUSLIM HATERS" figure out that if they vent their hatred and anger in a loud and angry manner it would somehow change the perception of other people, especially Americans towards Islam and Muslims.
I'm sorry to disappoint this forum with the news that the vast majority of people in this world (including Muslims) are peace loving people who understand right from wrong, morality from immorality, peace and love from hatred and strife and these sentiments are reflected in the American President.
So to the members of JIHAD WATCH - "DREAM ON" because that is the only place where this hatred will continue.
Are you trying to pose as some kind of intellectual here, Fayzal? Bad news for you, it's not working.
People here understand islam for what it is, not from some pre-prejudiced hubris, but from FACTS. And, unless you're willing to claim that Mr. Spencer fabricates the news stories presented here, there's no denying those facts. This site has posters across the entire religious and ethnic spectrum--and all are welcome--even your nonsense is allowed. And, should I mention that islam is not a race? No amount of arrogance, name-calling, pseudo-intellectual posturing, can negate what we know about islam or alter our resolve to defend against its depredations. Lots better than you have tried...
So, If you want to call me a racist because I like ketchup on my French Fries, or I'm proud of my country, or I'm sure that islam is violent and dysfunctional, have at it. And I'll conclude that you're not to be taken seriously--which, BTW, I already have.
Nice try, though, thanks for playing...
So, you think I'm a racist and I think you're an idiot. Fair enough, I can live with that, so let's leave it right there...
@Fayzal: "Fortunately, Americans are not represented by JIHAD WATCH. Several things wrong here. First, the "hate crimes" committed by US soldiers was the disposal of inmates' secret code books, which happen to be their (idol worshipped) Koran, so the inmates already "desecrated" their so-called holy books; nobody was attacked here. Second, the American people are free to come to their own conclusions on what happened, what the Afghan riots represent to them (not the first Koran riots in Ummah), and what an anemic and useless President's apology means. We are a free people who are free to communicate, to reason, and find our own conclusions. JW is one more site for information and debate, such as you chose to visit, so come away from it with your nego-conclusions as you will, but it does not speak for the rest of the nation, and surely not for me. ALL AMERICAS are watching this sorry-ass charade of inflated "insult" over the disposal of damaged Korans with wonder and awe, that any society can be so regressively backwards, and so violent as to call on the 'martyr' death of those who insulted them. We are watching, and we understand. And we also read their book. We have come to our conclusion, as more and more Americans understand. You come to yours.
Bravo. Very Good. I copied this and will be shooting it off to my (so-called) representitves.
Is there a way on this site to go to my comments directly and also see the responses to them? Or do I have to scroll through the whole page like I have been doing. Not just computer illiterate. computer cro-magnon. Sorry.
What the hell. While I'm here I'd also like to thank the most intelligent, informative and knowledgeable readers on the web. Like I've said before, I get almost as much out of the comments section of JW as I do the articles themselves. And that's more than can be said for most of the other websites

What crap. While any decent American would consider your cheering for 9/11 to be vile, they would not condone anyone killing you for it.
And don't think this is theoretical—Muslims *have* carried placards lauding the vicious Jihadists of 9/11—in London, in Paris, in Berlin, and, yes, in New York City.
The number of dead Jihad sympathizers at the hands of irate, out of control Westerners? *Exactly zero*.
For anyone who has missed Fayzal Mahamed's nasty comments over on the "Pakistan: Two Christians injured over rumor of proselytizing; one may lose arm" thread, his big thing is a desire to have free speech crushed as a "hate crime".
One of his big causes is to have English translations of the Qur'an banned. Ugly, ugly stuff...
Hmmm..apparently, this is not the first time Fayzal Mahamd has shown up here.
"South Africa: Activist Fayzal Mahamad files complaint with Human Rights Commission over Qur'an verse"
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/10/south-africa-human-rights-activist-fayzal-mahamad-files-complaint-over-quran-verse.html
He appears here in the guise of an anti-Jihadist—but he only seems to have a problem with the English-translation of Qur'anic passages—and not with the original text, at all.
Whatever his motives, this would have the effect of arbitrary book banning, and would leave non-Classical Arabic readers completely in the dark as to the contents of Islamic texts. Not a good thing...
Nice catch, 'Gravenimage'.
I hadn't recognised the name, but it seems you did.
That explains a lot.
