Jihad causes poverty. The underlying mentality that leads to a sense of entitlement to explode in rage preceded the excuse du jour for doing so. There can be no prosperity in society without stability, and no stability where such entitlement and obsession with honor and shame tie the matter of "respect" to what could be called a social contract of Mutual Assured Destruction.
Politeness enforced through blackmail is not the same thing as civility, and the appearance of stability it may temporarily project is flimsy and hollow, as is on ample display here.
The entire society suffers for it. As of the time of this posting, none of these fits of anger have succeeded in un-burning a Qur'an, or un-breaking things broken in prior protests, or resurrecting those killed in them. "Deadly violence as commander warns against 'vengeance'," by Nick Paton Walsh and Masoud Popalzai for CNN, February 24:
Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- A large crowd swarmed a military base and numerous demonstrations turned deadly Friday in Afghanistan, the fourth day of fallout after NATO troops burned Qurans at a military base, officials said. One of the protests took place just outside a U.S. consulate.
The developments came a day after U.S. President Barack Obama apologized for the incident at Bagram Airfield this week, calling it an unintentional error.
At least eight people were killed and 27 wounded in protests Friday, mostly in Herat province, officials said. The death toll includes six in Herat, one in Baghland and one in Nangahar, according to Sediq Sediqqi, spokesman for the Interior Ministry. Seven of the wounded were in Kabul, and they included three police officers, a spokesman for the Health Ministry said.
NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said there were no reports of ISAF personnel wounded in the protests.
The commander of ISAF and U.S. forces in Afghanistan, Gen. John Allen, addressed the issue in a visit to troops at a military base where two U.S. soldiers were killed Thursday by a man wearing an Afghan National Army uniform. A protest over the burning of Qurans was taking place outside the base at the time of the killings.
"Now is not the time for vengeance," he said. "Now is the time to look deep inside your souls, remember your mission, remember your discipline, remember who you are. We'll come through this together as a unit."
He called on troops to "show the Afghan people that as bad as that act was at Bagram, it was unintentional, and Americans and ISAF soldiers do not stand for this. We stand for something greater than that."
Gen. Sher Mohammad Karimi, the Afghan National Army's chief of staff, joined Allen on the trip and thanked the troops for their "sacrifices for humanity, not just the Afghan people."
NATO posted a video of the visit on its official YouTube channel, without naming the base.
Hundreds of people attacked an ISAF base in Pul-i-Khumri in northern Baghlan province Friday, destroying a security fence and parts of the walls, according to an Afghan National Army official.
Police interfered and started shooting into the air. One civilian was killed and 11 others were injured, the official said.
ISAF had no immediate comment on that incident.
The demonstrations in Herat province took place in several different locations. One was in Herat city near the U.S. consulate, said Mohayddin Noori, spokesman for Herat's governor.
A witness said demonstrators were setting vehicles on fire, including police cars.
A spokesman at a local hospital said a total of nine injured people were brought in....
There were also protests in the Adraskan and Shindand districts, Noori said.
Mutual Assured Destruction. MAD. Nice!

Apologize for that?
“Long live Islam!” – “Death to America!”
You can call it 'Mutual Assured Destruction' or 7th century living.
But poverty is not necessarily what Jihad brings.
Because this sense of 'sense of entitlement' - extends to the belief that as a Muslim one should have or be the controller of what everyone else has.
The taking of Constantinople - meant that the spoils of Jihad - enriched the Islamic world - out of this came the translated ancient Greek anatomy - into Arabic - the so-called Islamic knowledge - and the gold took - as I believe years to remove - there was so much in store.
[And no doubt much was gained from the sacking Egypt, Persia and India]
We now see this sense of entitlement displayed - in the new migrant workers and refugees - from Europe to Australia - making the case that their religious rule of law should govern these countries.
Jihad was in part Islam's survival.
And equally it is its downfall.
Muslim nations can hardly advance and move forward - for the threat of Jihad acted out on its own citizens - to keep them in line with the original Islamic 7th century order.
But Jihad brought new territory - and the wealth that Muslims so love to brag about.
In a way it is still reflective of the 7th century passing caravan model - that Muhammad and his men sought to loot.
Stationery, Islamic peoples move and western nations become the new caravans.
A parasitic ideology - which needs a host.
I think the party only lasts so long, though, and that is one of the things that necessitates new conquest and subjugation:
Sure, they can plunder, and as with communist revolutions, the temporary inflow and distribution of resources that results makes it look like the system is "working" for propaganda purposes.
But through plunder, subjugation, and intellectual tyranny, they effectively destroy the means of generating new wealth, and stagnation and bitterness set in, as the cause of the problem -- the policies imposed under the ruling party/ideology -- is upheld as the only solution.
It becomes necessary to pick a fight to distract the populace and gain access to more of other people's stuff.
In that regard, I think jihad ultimately does cause poverty. Over, and over again.
Let's write to Congress (www.congress.org):
Dear Representative:
Qur'ans were used in Afghanistan as a means of communications by the enemy combatants. Those ciphers/communiques were intercepted, confiscated, and destroyed so the enemy combatants could never have access to them. But, because Sharia law forbids the burning of Qur'ans, our President is apologizing and promising to follow Sharia law instead of U.S. law. The same tactic is used when enemy combatants hold up in mosques, and are assured of a safe place from which to shoot at U.S. troops. The same tactic is used when human shields are used and killed, and the responsibility is placed on U.S. troops instead of those who use human shields and the U.S. pays blood money (prescribed by Sharia law) to the families of human shields, accomplices, and jihadists themselves. Our troops were used like this for ten years with their hands tied and the enemy combatants protected by Sharia law. This weakening and killing off of our troops was only used to procure Islamic democracies with Islamic Constitutions enforced by Sharia law. Now, President Obama has sent our troops to Africa to fight against the only opposition force to the genocidal jihad conquering the oil-rich countries of Africa. This outrageous and seditious waste of the lives and health of U.S. troops must stop.
As a member of the United States Congress, I am asking and expecting you to put an end to enforcement of Sharia law by U.S. troops, to redefine the parameters when fighting against Islamic enemy combatants, to place the responsibility for using human shields, mosques, and Qur'ans squarely on the shoulders of those who use them, and to prohibit and forbid U.S. troops from being subjected to Sharia law, officially or unofficially. Let U.S. troops only be used to support the U.S. Constitution, let them only answerable to U.S. law, and only deployed when the safety of U.S. citizens is in eminent jeopardy. Station U.S. troops at U.S. borders and stop them from being used as pawns in the Muslim Brotherhood's global jihad.
What is there to stop their mania? They think they are in position to be conquerors of the world.
The truth falls in the streets. Islam is not a religion of peace but a religion of death and destruction. Our President apologizes for the burning of "polluted" copies of the Koran, but who apologizes to the families of the two American soldiers who were killed by lawlessness? The insanity goes on and on. Afghanistan is the next Iraq, when American troops pull out lawlessness will reign. There will be no peace, but at least our troops will be gone. Then who will they blame for the senseless killing and destruction? The devil comes but to kill, steal and destroy...
Looks like it's time to quote Sir Winston Churchill yet again.
He saw Muslims up close and personal, on the 'north-west frontier' and in Sudan when the British went up against the dervish army of the slave-taking slave-trading Mahdi.
Two classic quotes, for those new to this site and to this subject who may not yet have heard what Britain's most famous modern statesman and warrior had to say about Islam.
First, from The River War, his account of the campaign to defeat the Mahdi.
“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!
"Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy".
The River War, Vol II of the complete unexpurgated 1899 edition (you will not find this decidedly un-PC observation in any of the subsequent abridged editions of that book).
And now, from an earlier work, 'The Story of the Malakand Field Force', the opening chapter entitled 'The Theatre of War' (the whole book should have been required reading for *every* Western soldier - from the lowliest GI grunt and Aussie 'digger', right on up to the Top Brass - before they ever set foot in Afghanistan in the current ill-starred imbroglio):
"That religion [i.e. ISLAM - dda], which above all others was founded and propagated by the sword--the tenets and principles of which are instinct with incentives to slaughter and which in three continents has produced fighting breeds of men--stimulates a wild and merciless fanaticism...
"It is, thank heaven, difficult if not impossible for the modern European to fully appreciate the force which fanaticism exercises among an ignorant, warlike and Oriental population.
"Several generations have elapsed since the nations of the West have drawn the sword in religious controversy, and the evil memories of the gloomy past have soon faded in the strong, clear light of Rationalism and human sympathy.
" Indeed it is evident that Christianity, however degraded and distorted by cruelty and
intolerance, must always exert a modifying influence on men's passions, and protect them from the more violent forms of fanatical fever, as we are protected from smallpox by vaccination.
"**But the Mahommedan religion increases, instead of lessening, the fury of intolerance.
It was originally propagated by the sword, and ever since, its votaries have
been subject, above the people of all other creeds, to this form of madness.** {my emphasis - dda}.
"In a moment the fruits of patient toil, the prospects of material prosperity, the fear of death itself, are flung aside.
"The more emotional Pathans are powerless to resist.
"All rational considerations are forgotten.
**Seizing their weapons, they become Ghazis--as dangerous and as sensible as mad dogs: fit only to be treated as such.** [my emphasis - dda. Well, I think we are seeing some of those human 'mad dogs' all over the place in Afghanistan today, in this disgraceful episode of Quran Hysterics - dda}.
"While the more generous spirits among the tribesmen become convulsed in an ecstasy
of religious bloodthirstiness,
poorer and more material souls derive additional impulses from the influence of others, the hopes of plunder and the joy of fighting.
"Thus whole nations are roused to arms.
"Thus the Turks repel their enemies, the Arabs of the Soudan break the British squares, and the rising on the Indian frontier spreads far and wide.
"In each case civilisation is confronted with militant Mahommedanism.
"The forces of progress clash with those of reaction.
The religion of blood and war {i.e. ISLAM} - dda} is face to face with that of peace.
Luckily the religion of peace is usually the better armed."
Let's go over a couple of those phrases again.
From 'The River War', first edition:
"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog...".
And from 'The Story of the Malakand Field Force':
"... a wild and merciless fanaticism..."
"..the Mahommedan religion increases, instead of lessening, the fury of intolerance.
It was originally propagated by the sword, and ever since, its votaries have
been subject, above the people of all other creeds, to this form of madness..".
"Seizing their weapons, they [the Pathan Muslims; AFGHANS - dda] become Ghazis--as dangerous and as sensible as mad dogs: fit only to be treated as such...".
Whole lotta Mahometan Mad Dogs yelping, snarling, howling and biting each other and anything else they can get, right now, all over the place in Afghanistan: sicced on by the Mohammedan 'clerics', and quite probably by the big Gang Bosses of the OIC, behind the scenes.
Why do we care when they kill each other
because of one thing or another?
They are the fanatics who want to kill us.
