U.K.: "Shoebomb" jihadist to be released hours before opening ceremony for Olympics

The release date is described as an unfortunate coincidence, but it underscores massive task ahead of authorities to secure the London Olympics from Islamic supremacist disruption in any number of forms. "'Shoe-bomb' terrorist to be released from jail on opening day of the Olympic Games," by Emma Reynolds for the Daily Mail, February 6:

The notorious terrorist who plotted a shoe-bomb attack on a plane is to be freed from jail just hours before the Olympic Games begin.

Saajid Badat's release will only add to security fears at the high-profile event in London, which opens on July 27.

The 32-year-old was jailed for 13 years in 2005 after conspiring with two other radical Muslims to blow up a passenger jet - but he will be released after serving just eight years and eight months.

The religious teacher from Gloucester admitted to conspiring with Brit Richard Reid and Belgian terrorist Nizar Trabelsi to blow up flights to the U.S. in 2001.

But now he is due to be freed two-thirds of the way through his sentence on the official opening day of the biggest sporting event in the world, according to the Daily Mirror.

'People are furious this guy is being released on that day but it’s just a quirk of fate,' said a security source.

'You can be sure people will be watching him very carefully and taking note of who he associated with in prison.'

Badat is believed to have been trained for the plot by al-Qaeda in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He was arrested when he was found with a bomb designed to be placed in his shoes in order to evade airport security.

He had even booked a ticket for a flight from Amsterdam to the U.S., but he had a last-minute change of heart and never boarded the plane.

His fellow plotter Reid was overpowered by fellow passengers on a flight from Paris to Miami while trying to detonate the bomb in his shoes, and is now serving a life sentence in America.

The extremists were linked through phone cards found on Reid used to contact Trabelsi, who is serving time in Belgium.

So a guy plans to set off a bomb on a plane that would kill hundreds, cause untold horror and suffering to those innocents, children, women- everyone- and gets 13 yrs??? and serves 8yrs???

Reminds me of the movie, 'Man on Fire' with Denzel Washington. There when he meets the police chief who caused the capture of an innocent little girl and who killed others Creasy got his info out of the gentleman by something a tad north of water boarding, and left him to meet his maker with a package up his eternal orifice to essentially give him his travel ticket there.

Now.... I would think that such people who blow up hundreds of innocents, or plan too, and that 100 million dollar plane to boot ought to get a firing squad. Just one man's opinion.
Oh... and the idiots who sentenced him to this absurd sentence and are going to let him go, they ought to join him.

Granted, but Badass could be a magnetic character, if you get my drift.

Just wait for Stealth Muslim Obama to pardon Richard Reid.

His last job in office, perhaps?

A very good day for Islamic jihadists in Britain, and a very bad day for the safety of the British people, neglected by their totally ineffective British government.

HAMZA, QATADA and BADAT all to be freed, at our expense.

As long as Britain (and the West) continues with immigration from Islamic countries, so the massive problem of importing Islamic jihadists will remain.

Why would he kill Bin Laden but pardon Richard Reid?

Business as usual in the super-dhimmi UK. Here is a link to convicted terrorist Siraj Yassin Abdullah Ali, who served only half his sentence in the UK for aiding and abetting the Islamic maniac suicide bombers on the London tube. Here he is standing outside my local tube station - he lives near me in 'secure accommodation' - other photos show him standing at the bus stop at the end of my road, at which I have personally seen him three times now.

They say so much of the Olympics is about symbolism. What sort of symbolism *is this*?

*Why*? Was he "rehabilitated"? What a travesty—both the original sentence, and his early release.

More:

"Religious teacher", huh? How could he have misunderstood the peaceful nature of Islam to such a degree? sarc/off

More importantly, who else received his vile "teachings"? They likely still present a grave threat to Britain and the rest of the world. Has *anyone* followed this up?

Does anyone else have strong forebodings about a terrorist attack at the Olympics, or is it just me?

I can't imagine how disturbing his must be, John.

And while some Jihadists look at lest plausibly "moderate", you can see how hateful Ali is just from his murderous scowl—a look he is wearing while just waiting for a train on a sunny day,

Madness, and suicidal madness. They should ship his ass back to Eritrea on the next flight.

"I can't imagine how disturbing this must be, John."

Pretty disturbing.

The first time I saw a photo of him, I thought "hang on, that's the stop at the end of the road!". His 'secure accommodation' is paid for by the taxpayer, naturally. His face is burned onto my retinas, so i'd recognise him anywhere. Subsequent to that, I actually saw him myself. At the same bus stop, and - wait for it - going into the local Islamic cultural centre around the corner, which is called 'Dar al Islam'.

Fancy that? A convicted muslim terrorist going into an islamic cultural centre called 'Dar al Islam'. Whatever for?? Surely there's no link, is there? We'll never know...

do you frequent the 'New English Review' website as well as Jihadwatch?

http://www.newenglishreview.org/

Because if you don't, I think you should: the folks there - especially one Esmerelda Weatherwax, who is a native Londoner, and who used to post here some years ago as 'Grannie Weatherwax' - would be interested in hearing your first-hand observations as regards Siraj Yassin Abdullah Ali and where he goes and who he's with.

Just click on the 'contact us' which you'll find on the top left-hand side of the homepage.

Surprised nobody has written book about a modern day version...

It's also a foreboding thought in my mind. Security doesn't have numbers to contain the volume of venomous jihadists that populate the UK.

All Britain cares about now is prosecuting free speech as
'a racially aggravated public order offence' like Emma West. Attempting to blow up trains or buses, meh not so bad. There will come a time when the British people will have no option other than take things into their own hands, & that means throwing out the politicians as well.

ImNoDhimmi says:"Does anyone else have strong forebodings about a terrorist attack at the Olympics, or is it just me?" No, I don't think so. I've been worried about it from the moment London won the bid. (The Royal wedding was a huge sigh of relief.)

There's really only one word that sums up the UK - WEAK!

Weak ass politicians - a weak and impotent police force - a weak military - and the clueless Brits just sit there and suck on it...
