Many know the story of Heracles (Ἡρακλῆς) and the Lernaean hydra. The hydra was a terrible thing. Cut off one head, and two others appear in its place.
So it is in the case of the jihadists. Destroy one, and there are others.
Heracles found a way out. He cut off the head and Iolaus (Ἰόλαος) cauterized where the head had been cut off, so that the hydra could not grow new ones. And so the hydra was destroyed.
It's just the way ...
What is happening now? We, too, have a hydra, and we, too, are fighting against it. Only instead of cutting off her heads and cauterizing the wounds, we are feeding her, and so she is becoming stronger and stronger.
Look at how the Middle East and the Caucasus are being transformed. Iran, Turkey, Syria, Egypt, Libya, the North Caucasus: everywhere Islamic supremacists hold power or are coming to power.
Opponents say, "No, you're wrong." But is there a different way to explain the statements of the leaders of the "Arab Spring" in various countries in support of the jihadis? With the new regimes, jihadist and Islamic supremacist groups have been legalized. And the leaders of these states are listening to each other and making increasingly bizarre statements that have gone largely unnoticed.
The Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has assured Iran that NATO's missile defense system in Europe is not directed against him. At a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Davutoglu said that the NATO missile defense system is just that, a "defense system. Iran in any case is not its target."
NATO leaders have not commented upon this strong statement. Nor have they called upon the Turkish government to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
Islamic countries are also growing once again increasingly bellicose in their statements against the Jewish state of Israel. And the Palestinians continue to refuse to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Still, the international community remains silent about this.
Secretary of State Clinton condemned the terrorist attacks against the embassies of Israel in Georgia and in India, and offered U.S. assistance in the investigation of these attacks, but probably will not actively pursue these investigations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently accused Iran of exporting and supporting terrorism. However, senior Georgian law enforcement officials said several days ago that a bomb found in Tbilisi was not likely to have been related to the activities of Iranian intelligence. A Georgian official stated that the driver of the ambassador of the State of Israel is a citizen of Georgia, and the car does not officially belong to the embassy, so it was possible that the explosive device was not intended to target the Embassy of Israel. The driver, who found the bomb in his car, is of Armenian nationality.
It doesn't matter that four years ago on February 13, Mughni, one of the leaders of Hezbollah, was killed, and that on that day Hezbollah threatened to destroy Israel and everyone associated with it.
No terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the attempted terrorist attacks, and Iran has denied all charges. The President of Iran accused the Mossad of staging the terrorist acts. This is a well-known and familiar song. But now Georgia has started to sing along softly.
Yes, Prime Minister Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Lieberman, chairman of the Foreign Intelligence Service "Mossad" Tamir Pardo and many other leaders of the State of Israel are probably wrong about Iran's involvement. The truth is only being spoken by the Georgian secret services, who boast that their president a week ago met with U.S. President Obama. And Obama praised the president of Georgia, although in Georgia no one understood why.
Georgia has an excellent relationship with Iran. That is a fact. Did no one in the U.S. report to Obama and Clinton about it?
If they do not know Jihad Watch, in Georgia the Iranian government radio broadcasts (http://georgian.irib.ir/). In Georgia, there live more than 500,000 Muslim Shiites. Georgia has visa-free regime with Iran. Our government thinks that Iran has the right to "peaceful nuclear energy." We have very close economic ties with Iran, despite the economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
The only news agency that gave any notice of the visit of President Saakashvili to Afghanistan was an Iranian radio station. I ask the question: how did the Iranian reporters know about it, and no one else in the world has written more? The administration of the President of Georgia made no denial of this trip. Maybe President Saakashvili was in Iran, too? We cannot confirm this, but we cannot rule it out, either.
Why do Islamic hydra heads grow up? Why doesn't the U.S. administration follow the actions and statements of its partners?
Iran is well protected, protected by those who should be cauterizing the hydra heads.
Interesting juxtaposition: While Islam is dying as a theo-political philosophy on a world stage of 21st century civilization, their bastard offspring jihad is growing increasingly violent and bellicose, so appears alive and well, even growing. However, this is illusion. Their bellicosity does not prove that Islam is growing, anymore than their inflated population figures of Muslims on the planet indicate it is growing. Both are smoke thrown up by a dying religion, one which cannot fail to die in an age of open information, the world web and its free discussions. Their so-called Arab Spring on the surface looks like the Muslim Brotherhood and Salafis are taking control, and they may do so for a time. But that is because they exploit a power vacuum. That revolution is very far from over, and it will be bloody ugly one too. Given time, the real causes for their Arabic-Islamic revolutions will come clear. Ask the young people of Iran, if in doubt. They hate Islam.
Certainly, Islam still has its appeal among certain populations with its primitive imperative. Islam still appeals to the atavistic tendencies in men, since it empowers their self perceived prowess; in some bizarre twist it even appeals to women's atavism, somehow connected with their inner guilt over their sexuality. In their acting out their hatreds for the West and its moral values, especially its moral and human freedoms, they attack us with their either overt or complicit Jihad, so make themselves look larger than life. But like the blustering Wizard of Oz, they are hiding from behind a curtain of fear and ignorance. Pull that curtain aside for all to see, and Islam is done. Their violent hatreds are pathetic, their evil actions despicable, their claims to supremacy laughable; but they are dangerous all the same. Fight them and kill them we must, but do not be fooled by their smoke. Educate the public. Primitive Islam is dying.
"Pull that curtain aside for all to see, and Islam is done."
I agree 100%. Islam is dying indeed. And by the way, Iran is not the Hyra head.
He is: "The Perfect Man of Islam", and he is the one to unveil, and the whole world will see his ugliness...

I thought that Russia & Georgia hate each other over South Ossetia's recognition. How is it that both are in bed w/ Iran?
Infidel Pride, please present something to support your statement that Georgia is in bed with Iran. There is a lot of evidence pointing in the opposite direction.
Battle_of_Tours, I cannot agree. Islam is getting close to defeating Europe, via demographics. Islam is going from success to success, such as the West supporting and enabling the Muslim Brotherhood and Salafi to come to power in multiple countries in the Middle East, the biggest strategic mistake by the West with Islam since the 1500's (worse than the Carter debacle with Iran). The wave of jihad that we are in is just starting and will probably last at least fifty years or more. It's just starting and the West is quickly eliminating its defense by not defining the ideology of the jihad as: Islam. Most VIPs in the West are already on or going on the Muslim payroll in one form or another, representing Muslim interests while lining their pockets. It is not Islam that is dying, it is the West that is on its death march. I don't like having to say this but all the trends in the West are pointing in the wrong direction.
Again, I don't know what your're getting your information from.
Morocco, Kuwait, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Somalia, Mauritania, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, Sudan have a growing movement of Islamic politics.
Syria will be next to go.
Just watch this.

______
Well, that just about sums up one aspect of typical, faulty, Mohammedist thinking. Defense is offense. Offense is defense, given the present perceived strength of the Ummah - never mind anything else.

This is evidence that Muslims are horrible, un-sportsman-like, American football players, for example, and moreover, painfully deficient thinkers, in general.
Islam has survived into our modern world through ignorance and taquiyya. When everyone can read the Qur'an, the aHadith and the Sira, what will happen to Islam?
But don't forget that when a tiger is mortally wounded, it is at it's most dangerous.
What about the possibility of inviting peoples of all Faiths to sit down and study the European Religions wars (some call it the Reformation) from 1525-1648 to consider what a great global conflict of values might look like? This process only killed off 30% of Germany (maybe with the help of an odd plaque here and there)? People could not find resolution with there current way of thinking. Finally they just had to give up and let everyone have a beginnings of religious freedom, to begin to be more focused on business and science and start going off to explore the planet?
Just a thought. Good luck, TS
Islam is dying folks!
Don't expect the media to talk about it though. The so-called Islamic Giant IS DYING. Muslims are leaving Islam in unprecedented numbers. For those who can read arabic, as I do, check out these transcripts of sheikh al-Qataani's interview on al-Jazeera TV.
I,ve translated a few paragraphs here:
http://crossmuslims.blogspot.com/2010/05/dying-islam-lislam-mourant.html
I am curious Salah what is happening to the "Twitter types" in Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, Libya, etc.? Is Twitter the embodiment of a global unifying process foreseen in these two verses from the Qur'an and which started with the first tweet on sent by Samuel Morris on May 24th, 1844?
9. "Our Lord! Thou art He that will gather mankind together against a day about which there is no doubt: for Allah never fails in His promise."
(The Qur'an (Yusuf Ali tr), Surah 3)
12. Say: "To whom belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth?" Say: "To Allah. He hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy that He will gather you together for the Day of Judgment, there is no doubt whatever.
(The Qur'an (Yusuf Ali tr), Surah 6)
Might it be helpful to invite the younger people to consider if there are bigger processes in the World? That there is a new global wine and thus a new global wine skin is needed?
Cheers, TS
Because multiculturalism, moral relativism, and pragmatism have enfeebled the West and caused it to lose confidence it in own value. In fact, those very philosophical systems spawn vociferous enemies of those values. Listen to any university academic damn the U.S., or Obama, or Tony Blair and David Cameron of Britain. They adopted policies that would guarantee that Britain would be swamped with aliens who would never “assimilate” in British culture. They did this consciously. Then there are politicians like the Bushes who claim that Islam is a “religion of peace” and Muslims have a right to practice their creed. Well, no, they don’t, because Islam is an ideology more than it is a creed, and even qua religion it is barbaric and primitive. That is why the hydra is sprouting heads in the U.S.
I agree with Arius: Europe is on the verge of complete capitulation to Islam. For the story of Scandinavia, see this commentary.

ISLAMIC teachings of Koran and Hadith are the ROOT CAUSE OF TERRORISM around the world. Therefore, it is supremacist ideology of hate of non-Muslims, that also promotes apartheid (dhimmitude), misogyny, pedophilia, polygamy and murder for Allahu akbar, that MUST be dealt with.
There will be no end to new terrorist (hydra heads) as long as Koran and Hadith keep those hateful ideology, which mullahs and imams in the mosques all over the world preach and inspire new Jihadists to murder Jews, Americans and anybody that they are taught to hate. Saudi and Iranian oil keep financing this Islamic hydra with the money we pay for their oil! WE MUST GO GREEN and make oil irrelevant so that the funding dries out!
Islam is INCOMPATIBLE with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which most Muslims countries at the UN refused to sign but are allowed defaming the ONLY democracy in the Middle East, Israel.
Islam MUST reform or mosques around the Western world should be taken into the court of law for promoting hate speech and activities incompatible with the US and other Constitutions and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Shape up or ship out!
Like Molak said, we must push the OIL BUTTON. All our other concerns over Islam's allegedly growing power evaporates. It may take some time, and in between now and then expect it to be bloody Islamic-ugly. Europe and its Islamic hordes, and America, will sit on their thumbs and do nothing. Modern Muslims are already 'apostates', and they are our allies against the primitive Islam.
The end is the same, Islam goes the way of other ancient evil cult worshipping, like Baal. (When you stop and think, worshipping Allah-Mohammad is not so far removed from ancient worships of cult figures in Pagan times, where the 'god' was embodied in the 'divine' person.) At the end of the day, Islam is self-destructive when up against the 21st century West. Educate the public and GO GREEN, and Islam dies.
"Hydra heads" is a very good analogy.
That's why fighting, say, Al-Qaida itself is so pointless—it is only one part of the jihad threat.
As for Georgia, this really saddens me—and seems quite preventable.
In general, Georgia—along with Armenia—has been the most civilized and successful of the non-European former Soviets.
Georgia is so threatened by Russia—and this is, alas, not just paranoia—that it has turned to its Muslim "neighbors" as a hedge against Russian aggression.
But Islam is a much greater threat to Infidel states like Georgia than even Russia.
And Russia should embrace Georgia as a non-Muslim ally in the region, rather than playing the aggressor.
Armenia has a different history—at the end of the Armenian genocide they deliberately turned to the Soviets for protection—clearly they realized that *nothing*, not even the oppression of the Soviet Union—could be worse than genocide. So, Armenia has stayed close to Russia since independence. They know that Turkey and their other Muslim "neighbors" are the biggest threat of all.
The following is a glimpse into the mind of both NerObama (the so-called "Commander in Chief") and the Muslims he's attempting to appease:
"He has correctly realized that terrorism has no religion and culture and that you can not blame Islam as religion or its 1.5 billion followers for what a very tiny minority undertakes on its name." [My response] I suppose that little disagreement between the Protestants and the Catholics in Northern Ireland had no religious content either. You then went on to state: "Al Qaeeda and its affiliations are violent terrorists and have killed more Muslims than non-Muslims. Alone this fact alone is enough to debunk the argument that terrorism has a religious reason ... ." Oh really? So, the practitioners of different sects of the "Religion of Peace" (Wahhabi, Sunni, Shiite, Kurd, et cetera), has murderous intolerance for those who practice their devotion to Allah differently, yet this, somehow, precludes them from carrying out murderous attacks against non-Muslims (or, "Infidels", as you and they call us). I think you go a bridge too far in your stretching of fact and truth to try and hide what is as plain as the nose on my face. While this will no doubt bring a smile to your face (and quicken your black heart), as I always say: "If you want to know what life would be like under a Caliphate [for non-muslims - a.k.a. the rest of the world], ask an Armenian". (By the way, it's "Koran" in English, no matter how hard you wish to impose your spelling as a form of control upon the English speaking world.)
