Oddly enough, our staunch ally in Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, has been making similar noises many thousands of miles away from Spain.
I wonder why this Imam and Karzai think along the same lines. It's uncanny. Or maybe they read the same book!

The book of Guinness World Records demonstrates the outstanding achievements that muslims have attained in the areas of human dignity & rights, kindness, tenderness and empathy for others. This guy's got to be an outlier; muslims are so understanding and respectful of others.

The world of muslim males is one of brutishness; sex is basically for the gratification of muslim men. They'd be doing their wives a favor by not forcing sex on them.

Another sad incident in the "war against women" being waged by the Republican Party.

I'm sure these wives will be glad for the punishment of the husband denying them sexual relations. lol Wow, what a punishment; your abusive Muslim husband wont have sex with you. Oh dear! At least Muhammed, in his warped mind, did something inadvertently helpful for women.

I remember a similar case from 2005 - the year I came to Spain:

In September 2005, an Imam who wrote a book on how to beat one’s wife without leaving marks on her body, was ordered by a judge in Spain to study the country’s constitution.

The judge told Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, an Imam of a mosque in the southern resort of Fuengirola, to spend six months studying three articles of the constitution and the universal declaration of human rights.

Mr. Mustafa was sentenced to 15 months in jail and fined about $ 2,600 last year after being found guilty of inciting violence against women.

A judge released him after 22 days in jail on the condition that he undertook a re-education course. The Spanish government has set up a commission to find ways for the Muslim community to regulate itself. A central recommendation is that the imams should speak Spanish and have basic knowledge of human rights and Spanish law.

In his book “Women in Islam,” published four years ago, Mr. Mustafa, the Imam wrote that verbal warnings followed by a period of sexual inactivity could be used to discipline a disobedient wife. If that failed, he argued that, according to Islamic law, beatings could be sensibly administered.

“The blows should be concentrated on the hands and feet using a rod that is thin and light so that it does not leave scars or bruises on the body,” he wrote.

MR. MUSTAFA’S LESSONS, which he must pay for, will be taught by teachers from Malaga University.

According to La Vanguardia newspaper, he will have to study articles 10, 14 and 15 of the Spanish constitution. The first two address “the dignity of a person and inviolable rights” and states “all Spaniards are equal before the law.”

The third one states, “The moral and physical integrity of a person in no case can be submitted to torture nor inhuman or degrading punishments or treatment.”

When will they ever learn?

If Islam is eventually to become as marginalized as other totalitarian ideologies like fascism and Marxism, in Islam's case it will have to entail a mass exodus from Islam by women brought up Muslim. Minus this, marginalization of Mo's creed is far less likely to occur. And so once again can be seen the influence and importance of women in history, or more accurately here in this case, future history. You go, girls.

I think the Spanish authorities should just save themselves a whole lot of trouble, and deport him. Never to be permitted to return. And if he has somehow acquired Spanish citizenship, that should be stripped from him before he is put on the plane, or the boat, back to wherever he came from.

Good for the Spanish. If he was ''disseminating discriminatory messages ...'' in the UK, you can bet your boots it would be the person who *reported* it that would be 'under investigation'.

The significance, or lack of it, of this part of Muhammad's life for Muslims today.

9) The atittude toward the Christian belief in the divinity of Christ. The relevant passages in the Qur'an about believers in "shirk."

10) The concept of the kuffar. What is the Bilad al-Kufr? Why is it now permissible, as it once was not, for Muslims to migrate to the Bilad al-Kufr and live there? What do the Muslim websites explain?

11) What does the phrase "umma al-islamiyya" mean? Do whom, or to what, must Muslims owe their allegiance? Are they permitted to owe their allegiance or loyalty to anything else? Could they ever possibly fight on the side of Infidel fellow-citizens against Muslims from another country?

12) What is the concept of "taqiyya"? Does it differ from "kitman"? People of all religions lie, but is there another religion that formally sanctions lying in order to protect that religion or its Believers?

13) How are Jesus and Moses viewed in Islam?

14) What are the "djinn" in the Qur'an and where to they come from?

15) When was the Qur'an written? Over what period of time? And who wrote it down, if Muhammad was "unlettered"? And who dictated it? Why are there so many elements of both the Old and the New Testament to be found in the Qur'an? Which came first?

16) Why did the original Arab conquerors have such astounding success in subduing large swaths of territory? Did the belief-system they brought with them help or hinder that success, in the light of what you now know about Islam?

17) Can the hadith that are regarded as "authentic" be changed? That is, can one simply get rid of those hadith that say unkind things about Infidels?

18) Why are those who are Muslims not allowed to change their religion without the threat of severe punishment, including death?

19) Why do Muslims call Infidels who become Muslims "reverts" rather than "converts"?

20) What does the word "dhimmi" mean? What are the ahl al-dhimma? What is the "pact" that was made between the Muslims and the "People of the Book" who were allowed to live, and even practice their religion, under certain conditions? What requirements were laid upon the dhimmis in order that they might be treated as such? What does it mean to be a "protected people" -- "protected" from what, exactly?

21) Was Islamic Spain a paradise of interfaith harmony, that it would be advisable to try to reproduce today, if only we could?

22) What are the vast benefits that either "interfaith dialogue" or a "dialogue of civilisations" can bring to us?

Oh, this is just a start. Come to think of it, this little quiz is useful not only in Tulsa, but in New York and Washington.

Here is what I propose. Everybody, anybody, who wishes to utter a word about Islam, or about the relation of the tenets of Islam to how Muslims actually treat non-Muslims, and have done so for 1350 years, will have to take this test.

Time allotted: as much as you want.

If you want to go to the bathroom, the proctors will escort you.

What is this ? The Spanish police are actually investigating an imam ? In most Western countries the politically correct Police turn a blind eye to Muslim activity. Much worse things have been said in U.S and U.K mosques without so much as a raised eyebrow.

You contradict what you have stated elsewhere, where you have made it absolutely clear that you are *not* calling for a ban of the Qur'an, but only on *accurate translations of the Qur'an*.

Sure—this might restrict a few misogynist Muslims from reading about wife-beating, but it would also leave us absolutely in the dark about the baleful texts of Islam.

I agree with Robert Spencer—I don't want the Qur'an banned, and I don't want translations of the Qur'an banned, either.

I want all Infidels to read it—in English, and Spanish, and French, and German, and Dutch, and Swedish, and Danish, and modern Arabic, and Hindi, and Chinese, and every other language.

I want *everybody* to know what's in the Qur'an, and to be able to condemn it accordingly.
