Muslim North Sudan declares war on Christian South Sudan

The South's declaration of independence from the pro-Sharia, Islamic supremacist North always did seem too good to be true: it seemed inconceivable that the jihadis of the North would allow the kuffar to go in peace. And so here we are.

"Sudan President Declares War On South Sudan," from Ya Libnan, April 19 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Sudan’s president, Omar al-Bashir, Thursday declared war on South Sudan, vowing to topple its government.

The move comes after Sudan’s parliament passed a resolution branding South Sudan’s ruling party an enemy that “must be fought until it is defeated.”

Sudan and South Sudan are embroiled in the worst clashes along their poorly defined border since the secession of the South last summer. The United Nations Security Council is considering sanctions on both countries in an attempt to end the violence, and demanded South Sudanese forces withdraw from their occupation of the 60,000-barrels-a-day oil field Heglig oil field. Both countries continue to ignore calls to end the fighting.

On a visit Thursday to the oil-rich, restive border state of South Kordofan, Bashir rallied his troops, which are now engaged on three fronts with South Sudan.

“Heglig isn’t the end, it is the beginning, and we shall go all the way to [South Sudanese capital] Juba,” Bashir told a rally.

South Sudan’s army spokesman, Col. Philip Aguer, dismissed Bashir’s threat, saying that the South’s army would keep Sudan’s aggression at bay.

“If they didn’t defeat us when we were a green army, how will they defeat us now,” he said....

Bashir accuses the South of implementing the agenda of foreign countries which backed its secession bid, at the expense of its own people....

I hope this does not mean that the soon to be elected Egyptian President will have to act on his Parliament's unanimous vote that Israel is and always will be Egypt's "Enemy Number One".

Muslim North Sudan declares war on Christian South Sudan
......................................

I hope no one takes this as flippant—I assure you, it *is not*—but I always assumed that genocidal Sudan would not take the secession of their Christian victims with good grace. So—I just wonder that it took them so long.

South Sudan is still vulnerable and disorganized—I don't know if they will be able to stand up against Sudan. I pray that they will be able to so.

More moral equivalence. No mention that South Sudan only seceded in the first place because they were being subjected to genocide.

Ridiculous. As if it was in the best interest of south Sudanese to suffer mass rape, enslavement, and murder at the hands of Khartoum's Muslim forces...

I think there is more to worry about in islam from sedition within the country than any kind of non-nuclear armed conflict in a traditional sense.

Islam revels in being subversive, in the cult of the assassin and does not give a damn about the Marquis of Queensbury rules. In a full on traditional war these cowards will turn in run as they did in 67, in the Iraq war and in countless other conflicts.

Why fight face-on when you can feign friendship and stab your foe in the back. Why risk a battle when you can slit that friend's throat or shoot rockets at them while hiding behind women and children. Why fight a collective foe when by you can pick on a single individual and have your gang kick him to death.

No in a conventional war these clowns will turn and run their concept of honour is solely tied to their women's vaginas and they do not know morality from immorality unless that old bastard mohammad tells them.

The danger in islam is that these fools truly believe they are the master race and that they have a god given right to dominate and terrorize others. They have deluded themselves into believing this and I doubt that they will enter any kind of conventional warfare that would beyond a shadow of a doubt prove otherwise.

That is not a reason to relax far from it. Islam is like rust - it is a corrosive force that relies on the weakness of that which it attacks and it never rests.

SO I am right that the Geneva Convention "rules of engagement" are now seriously inadequate to the current situation.
2nd World War the rules allowed the execution of the un-uniformed. I doubt that a nightshirt,+ a turban or cap,is a uniform particularly since the colours vary and the civilians wear the same.
Those rules also expected a conventional (western?) view of "honourable". Muslims have a very very different interpretation.
As they do with most words.
Master Race? First they aren't a "race" and are mostly illiterate, cannot even read or understand their own "holy book", and have not the intelligence to even interpret their own holy book in any peaceful way.
Before we, the west, leave Afganistan the best thing we should do is give the troops the right to shoot the un-uniformed who drop their rifles when outnumbered. THAT - killing off the taliban, mujahaddin, terrorists - could be the very best chance for Afghanistan.
To be clear Toro this is not an attack on you. I just picked up on some words you used and had something to say

Beswick 14

No offennce taken but I did not say they were a race I said

"these fools truly "believe" they are the master race"

The ability to reason is also in very limited supply there.

The fact that they will not fight other than by subterfuge and deceit (or perhaps with suicide bombs atomic or otherwise) makes the suggestions you have given sound - But it will never happen - not when we are too reluctant to even give the evil a name- PS That name is islam!

Global jihadists could not conquer the oil fields of Sudan with genocidal jihad, but they keep trying, now adding political jihad. The OIC-run UN threatens to sanction "both countries," as if self-defense is the aggression. The West was too preoccupied with the Middle East distraction to stop the genocide in Sudan, but President Obama has since sent troops to ensure the Muslim Brotherhood's reign in Libya and other oil-rich African countries. Is there still any doubt that alternative fuel is needed in the war on (Islamic) terror?

South Sudan might need help. Mujahadeen will be coming from everywhere in the Muslim world. The West won't help. Only Israel will, as if Israel doesn't have enough on its plate.
South Sudan didn't "win" the former war, but it certainly prevailed. The north waited so long, graven image, because they needed an "excuse". Now northern citizens are going to find that their shouting and denunciation of southern people for choosing separation is going to have a price: conscription into the northern army. Maybe death. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth and cursing of the southerners who "caused" the war. (Muslims *never* cause war, do they?)

My favourite war story from South Sudan is about the taking of Muslim prisoners by the SPLA. A soldier told me they had to carry the prisoners on their backs to the camps where they were detained, because the Muslims were such wimps.

I'm putting my money on the South.
Go, SPLA!!

what this article fails to state is that the South is totally Christian and broke away from the muslim North. When you terrorize your minorities and tell them convert to Islam or die....what do you think they will do? Now the north wants that little chunk of land for oil and they will topple the southern government to get it. War WILL break out and the United Nations will either do nothing or it will side with the Islamists.

The movie "Darfur", a non-Hollywood production sums up the Sudan perfectly, I urge people to watch it. In the meantime the west sanctioning both sides will only produce more human misery, fuel the fires of the Islamists hatred for all things western (even charity), and force bail outs of food and money from us further down the track.
Leave them to it, sanction weapons only, keep out of their business and let them get on with it.

I believe you're right, PJG—and the press seems all too eager to consider this a simple border conflict, rather than another front of the Jihad...

UN's OIC Islamic lackey Ban Ki-moon weighs in on the side of North Sudan jihad against the South… so predictable.

BBC News, "UN says South Sudan seized Heglig oil field illegally": http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-17780226

... What will the United Nations do? …. Nothing, no doubt, they never do 'anything' against Islam… Anyone for 'dialogue'? (scoff)

Again we will see American liberals wimp out and not support a just cause against Islamic aggression and barbarism. There will be almost no sympathy for the South Sudanese Christians by the Hollywood elite, the media elite, the academic elite or by one of the greatest hypocritical organizations of our time---the Black Congressional Caucus.

The United Nations Security Council is considering sanctions on both countries in an attempt to end the violence, and demanded South Sudanese forces withdraw from their occupation of the 60,000-barrels-a-day oil field Heglig oil field. Both countries continue to ignore calls to end the fighting.
Another chapter in Moral Equivalency from the pooh-baahs @ Useless Nations - the South Sudanese are as guilty as the North Sudanese for having troops in terretory that happens to fall within their borders. And unlike Israel, I wouldn't be so sanguine about their chances of succeeding w/o some foreign support. But I still laud South Sudan for ignoring calls to end the fighting.

This is perfectly akin to a school punishing a schoolyard bully and the kid he's bullying equally when they get into a fight. I have nothing but ultimate contempt for such schools, and the same goes for the UN. South Sudan should not even bother to get UN membership as an independent country - it should just work out recognition deals from the countries it deems are its important partners.

In the 1930s, Germany & Japan made the League of Nations redundant when they withdrew from it. I know it's not going to happen w/ either Obama nor Romney, but I really wish that at some point, the US, Israel and key allies leave the UN, and make it even more irrelevant than it already is. The sooner such an organization comes to an end, the better!

Well, George Clooney and his dad will support South Sudan...bless their hearts.

From latest, South Sudan 'to withdraw troops' from Heglig oil field":

This attack on South Sudan incident has more pieces to it than commonly known. There is a North Sudan jihad angle to it, in the form of military support for the LRA operating in northern Uganda, fighting proxy for Khartoum's (sharia) government. Seems like strange bedfellows, between some radical 'Christian' warlord and jihad war against Christian South Sudan, but jihad knows no boundaries (count ALL Islamic wars as Jihad), even if this war comes down to oil revenue:

During Sudan's civil conflict, Uganda accused the Khartoum government of supporting the Lord's Resistance Army, which was fighting in northern Uganda. … "We will be involved having suffered a proxy war by Khartoum," Gen Nyakairima told the Daily Monitor.
"Our people in northern Uganda suffered and intelligence information also indicates that the LRA, who have an estimated 200 guns, are again in contact with Khartoum," he said.

Even polite BBC noticed.

All troops NATO forces in Afghanistan should be withdrawn from where they are not welcome and be transferred to where they would be most welcome. Bashir and his thugs need a good bashing.

....................

Thanks for that, BoT. I've heard some people say, sure, Kony is brutal, but the LRA is fighting against Jihad. I've always disputed that, and here is further proof.

It's always good to know who your enemies are. The appalling "Lord's Resistance Army"—which kidnaps children to work as child soldiers and sex slaves—is no ally of ours.

@gravenimage: "The appalling "Lord's Resistance Army"—which kidnaps children to work as child soldiers and sex slaves—is no ally of ours."

Indeed, gravenimage. It was something of a surprise to me, especially to find it in the BBC. I hope State is paying attention to this, as well as South Sudan's other African neighbors, like Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya. They'll all be dragged into this Jihad war yet. Too bad our clueless media won't get it, still writing nonsense about 'Christian' LRA attacks. It's just more 'restive' Jihad - in Sudan's wolf's clothing. Nota bene.

Yes, that is correct. Last year when I was in Western Equatoria State in South Sudan, I interviewed a boy who had escaped from the LRA, and he told me that he had accompanied Joseph Kony on a trip to north Sudan where he not only received help from the government in Khartoum, but also received boxes of supplies from helicopters with UN markings on it and which were carrying troops wearing blue helmets.

The LRA has been supported by Khartoum for decades, and it is continuing to be supplied by them. There is absolutely nothing "Christian" about the LRA. It is a proxy militia of the Muslim Brotherhood backed regime in Khartoum.

Funny, given how Mohammedan apologists use the LRA as their evidence of Christian fanaticism.

When I wrap up my time in South America in five or six months my plans is to go on to South Sudan, though this will take some time. If you´re in the area in the later part of the year, let me know or leave a note with PJG.

Hope to see you in Juba.

Parsons, you wrote:

Yes, I agree.

Aussies once went to Sudan back in the days of the Mahdi, to help win the River War (see movie 'Khartoum').

I think Aussie soldiers - and Americans, and Brits, and Canadians, and Dutch, and you-name-it - would feel much better about fighting alongside Christian and animist South Sudanese to help them hold their borders and defeat genocidal jihadists from North Sudan, than they feel about flailing and floundering around in the hell-pits of Afghanistan getting blown up and shot at and witnessing the abominable way the locals treat each other and where even their supposed 'trainees' and 'allies' - being infidel-hating Muslims just like the Taliban - keep turning around and shooting them in the back. I think we'd have a whole lot fewer PTSD cases if our men were in South Sudan rather than in Afghanistan.

I'd much rather that our troops were teaching South Sudanese Christians how to operate modern weaponry and run a modern army, rather than teaching those skills (or trying to teach them) to jihad-minded Afghan Muslims.
