Chechnya's Muslim president misunderstands Islam, endorses honor killing

How dreadfully inconvenient for the mainstream media spokesmen and Islamic supremacists who in the wake of our Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference on Honor Killing are busy claiming that honor killing has nothing whatsoever to do with Islam. Until Muslims and non-Muslims face up to the fact that it does, more young women will die -- which apparently is fine with those who are speaking out against our Conference. ACHXOY-MARTAN, Chechnya — Chechnya's government is openly approving of families that kill female relatives who violate their sense of honor, as this Russian republic embraces a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam after decades of religious suppression under Soviet rule.
In the past five years, the bodies of dozens of young Chechen women have been found dumped in woods, abandoned in alleys and left along roads in the capital, Grozny, and neighboring villages.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov publicly announced that the dead women had “loose morals” and were rightfully shot by male relatives. He went on to describe women as the property of their husbands, and said their main role is to bear children.

“If a woman runs around and if a man runs around with her, both of them should be killed,” said Mr. Kadyrov, who often has stated his goal of making Chechnya “more Islamic than the Islamists.”

In today’s Chechnya, alcohol is all but banned, Islamic dress codes are enforced and polygamous marriages are supported by the government.

Some observers say Mr. Kadyrov’s attempt to impose Islamic law violates the Russian Constitution, which guarantees equal rights for women and a separation of church and state....

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani has now been illegally imprisoned in Iran for his Christian faith for over 930 days.

The only thing that has prevented his execution to this date are the prayers of millions throughout the world and increasing international pressure calling for Pastor Youcef’s immediate release.

You don't get it, Robert. This isn't true. It's made up by greasy Islamophobes, or it's taken 'out of context'. Can't you see that? When will you understand that saying "women should be killed if they violate their family's honor" is open to interpretation?

And making Chechnya “more Islamic than the Islamists.” could mean all sorts of things as well.

You're being disingenuous in the way you're reporting his comments...

Likely the Christian Science Monitor would find this all hard to believe and feel it would be irresponsible to print!!

The only constitution in Kadyrov mind was written 1300 years ago - he's the every-man-should-take-2-or-3-wives President.

Okay, Russia is depending on him - to keep the area free of strife - but the price they are paying for it.

They were paintballing women without headscarves about a year ago - on his approval - now he's saying - kill them!

Russia needs to do to the Chechens what Stalin did to the Criminal, er, Crimean Tatars - deport them. This is one of those rare occasions where I miss the old Soviet Union - had countries like Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan still been under Moscow, the Russians could have deported them all to Samarqand, Bukhara, or other places in Turkestan, and emptied Chechnya and the surrounding regions of Muslims, and ended this secession movement. But now, there's no way they can, since those are independent countries, and so they just have to deal w/ this sociopathic population in their midst.

Don't be surprised if Chechen President Ramzan "Misogynov" Kadyrov begins demanding death to women if they go anywhere near bananas, cucumbers, carrots and zucchini, or if they wear high heels, or dare to have ‘alluring eyes’, or if Chechnya feels another earthquake ...

I suppose this is the fate of a good Muslima, whereas the fate of a bad Muslima is murder. It's a lose-lose situation for Muslimas.

This gives the lie to the idea—often bandied about in the West—that no Muslim really condones Honor Killings.

This also give the lie to another trope of the West—we see this with regard to Hamas and the countries of the "Arab Spring"—that if "Islamists" didn't practice Jihad terror to come to power, that they aren't a threat.

Unfortunately, Russia is laboring under the same ludicrous fallacy—they seen to believe that since Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov is nominally willing to clamp down on violent Jihadists that he is—somehow—*not* imposing Shari'ah there as surely as his Jihadist Muslim brothers would.

Kadyrov's goals—the imposition of Shari'ah_is *identical* to the "Islamists". Only his tactics somewhat differ.

How long is Russia going to put up with this in the name of illusory "peace"? They are are letting a part of Russia become a full Shari'ah state. And how long is that "peace" going to last once Shari'ah is well and firmly established there?

Certainly, the specter of dead women doesn't appear to move them...

A constitution is only as good as the people's and the government's will to enforce it. That is what's lacking—and meanwhile, the bodies of young women keep stacking up in Chechnya's lonely places...
