Christians Should “Convert, Pay Tribute, or Leave,” Says Muslim Brotherhood Presidential Candidate?

Over at Gatestone Institute (via I summarize an Arabic report alleging that the Muslim Brotherhood presidential candidate sees himself as the “second Islamic conqueror” of Egypt, who will enforce jizya on the nation’s Christians. As I point out, it’s hard to believe he would make these statements, considering he’s currently trying to convince everyone — especially Copts and women — that he’s a “moderate,” to get their votes. Still, conquest and subjugation are very much in keeping with the Muslim Brotherhood’s worldview, and slips of the tongue, especially now in Egypt, where passions are flying high, are common enough. You decide:

According to the popular Egyptian website, El Bashayer, Muhammad Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood presidential candidate, just declared that he will “achieve the Islamic conquest (fath) of Egypt for the second time, and make all Christians convert to Islam, or else pay the jizya,” the traditional Islamic tax, or financial tribute, required of non-Muslim “dhimmis.”

In a brief report written by Samuel al-Ashay and published by El Bashayer on May 27, Morsi allegedly made these comments while speaking with a journalist at the headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, adding “We will not allow Ahmed Shafiq [his contending presidential candidate] or anyone else to impede our second Islamic conquest of Egypt.”

After his interviewer pointed out that the first Muslim conquest of Egypt was “carried out at the hands of Amr bin al-As [in 641],” he asked Morsi, “Who will the second Islamic conqueror be?” The presidential candidate replied, “The second Muslim conqueror will be Muhammad Morsi,” referring to himself, “and history will record it.”

When asked what he thought about many Christian Copts coming out to vote for his secular opponent, Ahmed Shafiq, Morsi reportedly said, “They need to know that conquest is coming, and Egypt will be Islamic, and that they must pay jizya or emigrate.”

If this interview is accurate, certainly Morsi would not be the first political Islamist in Egypt to say he wants to see the nation’s Christians subjugated and made to pay jizya (see here for more examples)….

Isn’t that precisely the formula the Muslim Brotherhood in America (aka Al Qaeda in America) would apply? And with an implicit ” . . . or die” at the end?

  2. says

Many muslims in canada have already started collecting the taxes via the bogus Refugees claims to go on welfare and pump out jihad-joes for allah.
Muslims have no shame when they do this, they think they are entitile to it and have no plans to get off the welfare system, they even demand mosques in local Public schools and workplaces, they demand special treatment from the Police and now have the Hijab/Niqab Police wing for the Forces even after the mass slaughter of 4 brown female muslim for NOT wearing the hijabs.

Liberalism is starting to look like a mild form of Mental Illness that detatches the conscience from all moroal choices because qwe see how Leftist Liberals are now in bed with the islamic-supremacy brown shirts. We see how Andersen Copper and Rosie embrace hamas and terrorism in Palestine, we see how ‘The View’ thinks 9/11 had NOTHING to do with peaceful islam and the peaceful muslims that slaughter 3000 civlians( BTW, close to 25’000 people got out of the towers after the 1st plane hit).

Oh the irony one day when the Leftists will be the first ones beheaded on a CNN video reports once the Jihad starts on US soil.

As I point out, it’s hard to believe he would make these statements, considering he’s currently trying to convince everyone — especially Copts and women — that he’s a “moderate,” to get their votes.

First, Raymond should know that Muslims play a double game with their rhetoric. To fool Infidels (when they — the Muslims — think they themselves are too weak to be honest), they sugarcoat and whitewash their Islamic desideratums. But to rally their fellow Muslims, they must do so with inspirational rhetoric, as all people do who have a cause they believe in. Also, psychologically, it must be extraordinarily difficult for a Muslim to maintain taqiyya at all times, and many of them must yearn for the release of pheremones that comes with expressing the truth of their deepest convictions — particularly when rousing fellow Muslims (and Muslims are always subsuming their individuality to the community anyway — that’s part of their culture, which resists the progress of the phenomenon, both cultural and psychological, of individualism).

And this is where Raymond’s formula is particularly weak: he assumes that there must be a mass of Egyptian Muslims who really would be turned off by a Muslim candidate saying he would treat the Christian population true to Islam. As with those analysts who are starry-eyed about the “Iranian People”, he errs seriously, I think, in this regard: the mass of Egyptian Muslims who may not want to vote for the Muslim Brotherhood candidate are less calculating their votes based on issues such as treatment of non-Muslims, as they are on issues schizophrenically related to their own needs for having their cake of Mubarrakian modernism while eating their cake of Islamic fanaticism (for all Islam, mainstream normative Islam of all Muslims, is baseline fanatical). And this is the most charitable interpretation we can make of that putatively “secularist” mass of Egyptian Muslim voters. Given all we know about Islam (or should know about it, by now), it is more reasonable to assume that all Egyptian Muslims qua Muslims are more duplicitous than that, like the Egyptian actress Athar al Hakim.

    “Convert, Pay Tribute, or Leave”
Moderation like that is likely to get Muhammad Morsi condemned by his coreligionists as a heretic.
The correct line is “Revert, Pay Tribute, or Die”.

  5. says

Mohammed Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood candidate competing against Ahmed Shafiq in a runoff election to become Egypt’s first elected president in 60 years, has allegedly said that the Coptic Christian population should “convert, pay tribute, or leave” the predominantly Muslim country.

Mr. Morsi is trying to pretend that the jizya will “protect” the Christians, as if it will be giving them some kind of privilege. In reality, half their wealth will be plundered and they will be made slaves to all Muslims. If even one of the Christians rebels, all of them will be fair game for reprisals, abuse, plunder, rape, revenge and murder. Such is the way of a pact with the devil.

  7. says

ALL ‘western’ nations should END **all** ‘aid’ to Islamic Egypt and all trade – such as it is – with Islamic Egypt.

Expel all but the lowest level Egyptian diplomats and withdraw all but a skeleton staff from a few Western embassies in Egypt (most should leave altogether; two or three should remain, heavily secured, and their sole function should be to expedite visas for bona fide Copts desiring to leave Egypt and emigrate to majority-Kafir countries as political/ religious refugees – and those Copts’ applications will be handled, at every step, by NON-MUSLIMS – by people like Mr Ibrahim who know the language and the situation). Get the Copts out by the boatload and the planeload, like the Israelis got 99 % of the Jews out of Yemen and all the Jews out of Iraq, in order to prevent a genocide even more massive and bloodcurdling than that of the Armenian Christians by Turkish, Arab and Kurdish Muslims in the late 19th and early 20th century.

And ALL entry of Egyptian Muslims to free non-Muslim lands will *end*: no ‘students’, no ‘refugees/ asylum seekers’, no ‘tourists’, no ‘businessmen’, no ‘family reunions’, no nuthin’. It will be plainly stated that any Egyptian Mohammedan caught pretending to be a Copt in order to get into the West will be booted right back into Egypt the second his imposture is detected.

Get the Copts out and then wall off Islamic Egypt; lock the Egyptian Muslims up inside the hell-pit that they are creating for themselves. (Keep on broadcasting Fr Zakaria Botros’ scathing programs by radio and satellite TV into the hell-pit, for the sake of any souls that by the mercy of G-d may awaken).

Then tell the Muslims of Egypt that if they launch Jihad across the Sinai against Israel, or if they try to block the Suez and hold all Infidel shipping to ransom, then the High Aswan Dam will be destroyed.
