If Egyptians no longer want peace with Israel and want to scrap David accord, by all means give them what they want.
Then Israel would be free to regain control of the Sinai with its oil & gas fields.

Westerners should abandon their illusion of "moderate", "educated" Muslims not wanting sharia. If some one is a Muslim, you can say with 100% certainty that he will be pro-sharia and for its implementation. When Muslims born and brought up in the West are for sharia implementation, I am not surprised that majority of Muslims in Egypt are for sharia and are anti-West and anti-Israel.

A Carlisle takeaway boss has been convicted of attempting to recruit four girls aged between 12 and 16 into prostitution.

Azad Miah, 44, was also found guilty at Carlisle Crown Court of running a brothel from his business and paying for the sexual services of teenagers.

The owner of the former Spice of India restaurant had denied all charges.

He was found guilty of inciting four girls into prostitution, and cleared of the same allegation against two others.

He was also convicted of paying for the sexual services of two girls.

Miah, who was warned that he faced a "substantial" prison term, will be sentenced on Tuesday.

The court was told that the married father-of-four hounded and stalked the girls to try to persuade them to have sex for money.

He was described as carrying out a "cold, clinical exploitation of the desperate and vulnerable", targeting girls with drug or alcohol addictions, or with troubled backgrounds.

In his opening address, prosecutor Tim Evans said: "It is the Crown's case that the defendant deliberately targeted girls who fell into that category or who had other problems with the law.

"The defendant believed that such girls would be more likely to give in to his persistent offers... and they may find themselves less likely to be believed if they complained to the police against a responsible, respected restaurateur of the city."

The jury heard that one girl complained to police about Miah persistently harassing her in 2008, three years before he was arrested, but gave up when no action was taken.

Miah came from Bangladesh to England with his family in 1982, married his Bangladeshi wife seven years later, and opened the Spice of India in 2000.

The restaurant and takeaway in Botchergate is now operating with new owners and a new name.

A couple of clarifications are in order regarding levels of sharia support.

1. Egypt already has some sharia, such as relatively watered-down (though by our western standards barbaric) punishments for apostasy and blasphemy, but not as much sharia as most Egyptian Muslims want.

2. From the article: "Asked whether Egypt’s laws should strictly adhere to the Qur’an, 60 percent said yes while 32 percent said it should follow the values and principles of Islam and only six percent said laws should not be influenced by the teachings of the Qur’an."

Comments: Polling by PEW on Egyptian Muslims also indicates that 81% want a strict application of sharia in every Muslim country, 84% want the death penalty for apostasy, and 82% want stoning to death for adultery. Polling by Gallup indicates that 90% of Egyptian Muslims want sharia to be at least a source of law.

I suspect that the percentage of Egyptian Muslims who want as much sharia as or more sharia than they already have, based on the above figures, is between about 81% and 92%. We get 92% as the top end of the range by adding 60% + 32%. Supporting strict adherence to the Quran (60%) and the more loosely-defined following values and principles of Islam (32%) are both ways of indicating support for sharia.

Strict adherence to the Quran (60%) alone (if that is the understanding of the question by some respondents) doesn't produce stoning to death for adultery (82%) or [arguably] death penalty for apostasy (84%), since both penalties are given explicitly in the Hadith, not the Quran. Moreover, adhering strictly to the Quran would lead to punishing adultery with either house arrest/imprisonment (Q 4:15) or 100 lashings (Q 24:2), not with stoning to death.

An interesting figure is that 6% of Egyptian Muslims do not want laws to be influenced by the Quran. One might expect that some of those would be opposed to sharia. However, perhaps only a small portion of them are opposed to sharia per se, because the poll by Gallup suggests that only 1% of Egyptian Muslims say sharia should not be a source of legislation, when asked that question directly.

What these comparisons suggest is that asking Muslims if they want laws to adhere strictly to the Quran is not an accurate indicator of their support for sharia. If we were to use it as an indicator of sharia support, we would end up underestimating the support for, and overestimating the opposition to, sharia.

I don't doubt that the majority of Mahoundians want a sharia state and Caliphate...But I don't trust polls in general, and am suspicious of any Mahoundian poll because they are likely to say anything or nothing...

margaritha gotta wholeheartedly agree with smredneck with this one. Sudan already underwent partition and that is not good enough for the northern muz, the muzz north is still assaulting the south non-stop, among other izlumic goals, the south contains most of the oil wealth. You can bet your bottom dollar if the muzz were to attain their own territory in the south of Phillipines and Thailand like they are trying, they would STILL NEVER leave the north of these countries alone until they had seized the entire of these two countries and proclaimed them izlumic as well. They WILL NOT STOP even if given their own muzz "homeland" territories. Of that you can be certain. It is WAR against all and everyone until all worship ala.

DDa I don't think smredneck meant that christians and others should not fight to resist sharia. I will go out on a limb here and state he thinks, like I do, that it meant that the muzz will NEVER be satisfied if they are given their own state in disputed terrorities. Just more proof that Islam does terrible things to the mind---and to women---and to freedom---and to equality under the law---and to the human condition in general, whether in Egypt or elsewhere. In this last respect, Islam is very much in keeping with ALL totalitarian ideologies, to wit, none ever advance the human condition though invariably claiming to do so, and often times seeming to do so with the help of enablers (here Duranty of The New York Times comes first and foremost to mind, though there are many other "worthy" candidates).

Hopefully, it will be a hat trick, but political correctness and multiculturalism, each a creation of the modern Left and not nearly effectively enough opposed and actively condemned by conservatives, have done great damage, enormous damage. These twin idiocies have actually engaged in the ultimate folly and have given the green light to a totalitarian ideology which is also a religion (hey, who ever said that a religion has to be good?) and, concerning which religion, has made a sorry-ass mess wherever it has dominated (please, spare me, the so-called glories of the medieval Islamic world---they were not so great, often not performed by Muslims and, even when performed by Muslims, were still not so great and/or often in contradiction of basic Islamic tenets---e.g., both Avicenna and Averroes pale in comparison to the intellectual architecture put forth by Thomas Aquinas and, as well, were each in trouble with Islamic authorities in their lifetime and afterwards).

Bottom line: Islam shackles the mind and the body. There are few givens in life but Islam's destructiveness of the human sprit is one of them. Want proof? Just look at Egypt---a land which should have built upon the best of ancient Egypt, with its some thirty dynasties, and the Roman Empire which followed, but which has not yet done so, compliments principally of Islam.

I guess Obama & Hillary will probably figure they need to dump even more billions of taxpayer money on the Egyptians to make them nice. Given Obama's control over other people's money (national security you know) he can be real generous to his fellow Muslims - it's only your money.

If Egypt is stupid enough to cancel the treaty then they can be stupid enough to lose the Sinai again.

If Egypt renounces the peace treaty with Israel, then Israel is fully entitled to re-occupy the entire Sinai Penninsula, which it conquered in the 1967 war with Egypt. No Muslim nation has ever in history withdrawn from conquered land, and the Israelis were fools to do so on no other premise than a piece of paper and an empty promise.

If Egypt renounces the peace treaty with Israel, then the USA is obligated to terminate all military and economic aid to Egypt, as a peace treaty with Israel was a condition of such aid that has cost the USA tens of BILLIONS of dollars over the last three decades.
