Slate: People think Obama is a Muslim because of "his exotic name and background" and "the color of his skin"

The Leftist media just can't figure out why people would think Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim. They think, as this witless article in Slate shows, that it must be because of his name, or his race. It never occurs to them, or they deliberately wish to obfuscate the fact, that Obama has repeatedly reinforced this impression throughout his presidency. Whether he is a Muslim or not, he has acted favorably toward Islam and Islamic supremacism from the day he took office. Pamela Geller included a lengthy but still partial list of the many ways he has done so in an article she wrote in June 2010:

And that's just up to June 2010. It isn't as if he has changed course since then. And while he did approve of the killings of bin Laden and al-Awlaki, he has never done anything or said anything negative about the non-violent advance of Sharia in the Islamic world or in the West, including the U.S.

"The Muslim Rumor That Just Won't Die," by Matt Taylor for Slate, June 22 (thanks to Kenneth):

Ever since he began running for president in 2007, Barack Obama has been dogged by rumors that he's secretly a Muslim. Whether it's his exotic name and background, the color of his skin, or (most likely) some combination of the two, the Muslim lie just doesn't seem to go away.

Each time it has begun to fade from public discussion, the Muslim rumor has cropped up again, like it did last year when real estate tycoon Donald Trump, who was publicly weighing a presidential bid at the time, insisted he had evidence showing Obama wasn't born in the United States (and that his birth certificate might show that he's Muslim).

In response, the president eventually took the extraordinary step of releasing his long form birth ceritificate [sic], which showed he was born in Hawaii as claimed. But a new Gallup poll finds that even now, a healthy chunk of Americans believe the rumor:

Just 34% of Americans correctly say U.S. President Barack Obama is a Christian, while 44% say they don't know Obama's religion and 11% say he is a Muslim.

Obama is a Christian and has labeled himself as such as in his writings and interviews, and while living in Chicago he attended the Trinity United Church of Christ. Since moving into the White House, Obama has attended several different Christian churches....

Oh, please explain if he is not a Muslim then why would he keep a Muslim name??? Any clue, Sherlock??

How many non-Muslims keep a Muslim name?? Zero, zilch, cipher, etc, etc...

Walk like a duck, quack like a duck... you are a duck!!!

According to a number of reports, Obama is a gifted exponent of the Arabian martial art of Taqiyya. He is well accomplished in the many fighting styles of Taqiyya including Deceit, Back-peddling, Double-talk, Overt smiling, Stealth Homosexuality and Sedition. He was awarded his black belt in 1998 and gained a Bronze Medal at the Camel-Urine Ninja Games in 2002 where he KO'd his opponent in the 2nd round with a double fork-tongued fib strike.
Obama has proved himself to be a tough opponent when dealing with taqiyya attacks of all descriptions by his use of stunning counter-taqiyya combos, but his critics have criticized his fighting style saying that his defense is weak against truth attacks and multiple strikes of honesty. He is also vulnerable to inside punches of facts. One fight analyst has said that "Facts are hard for Obama to deal with and he has lost on points to many opponents who have rained blows of hard facts on him." Another analyst went so far as to criticize the entire martial art of taqiyya saying that "when used on a level playing field taqiyya is not very effective as a fighting art".
"Obama," the analyst continued, "would be better off learning a more efficient martial art such as the ancient art of Goodness and Morality. However I fear that his skills and ability are just not up to this."

I don't really care if Obama is a Muslim or not.

He has built up a White House record which can be examined. Has he really been easier on Islam than George Bush? Has any quote been more widespread, than that "Islam is a religion of peace?"

I would like to see some evidence that Mitt Romney is even faintly harder on Muslim immigration than Obama. Recall that the Presidential candidate in 2008, McCain, criticized Obama for not intervening strongly enough in Libya and Syria. The Arab Spring would have been strongly encouraged under a McCain administration.

George Bush got us into two wars, one of which was completely unnecessary. He lowered taxes while initiating the two wars, with the resulting financial turmoil of the last 4 years. At least Obama is pulling us out of those wars.

There is a lot to criticize about the Obama administration. One of the things that worries me the most is that his administration is lax on real security. For example, our drone went down in Iran, containing our most important and secret technology. Obama vetoed several plans to retrieve it.

While I'm at it, I like the Obama decision to not deport law-abiding, long-term illegal children of immigrants. Can anyone explain the benefits to the US of deporting to Mexico English-speaking university-graduates who consider themselves Americans, don't speak Spanish, and have never been to Mexico?

In politics, you generally have to vote for the candidate you dislike the least. I'm not saying Obama is great, but I want an objective comparison.

"the president eventually took the extraordinary step of releasing his long form birth ceritificate [sic],"

Extraordinary? I had to produce a certified copy of my birth certificate to: get a Social Security card and number, to get a driver's license, and to get a job. So why is it "extraordinary" that Obama should produce one to show he is legally qualified to be President?
Also, a certified copy of my birth certificate is available to anyone who writes, or visits, my hometown department of public health and asks for it, and pays the nominal fee. So how is Obama able to keep his sequestered?

Obama is the great bleeding heart defender-of-Islam-in- chief who bleeds for Moslems as the world's greatest victims needing his humble bows and loving hugs to restore their lost confidence and self esteem in the historical greatness of their religion. Obama is just a well meaning politically correct fool. But very dangerous in his naivety, and must be removed.

Obama is not and cannot be a Muslim. That would require him to venerate something other than his own exalted self, which he is not about to do.

Obama attended a racist "Christian" church for 20 years that was lead by an ex-Muslim. A church that allowed HAMAS to place a message in the church bulletin. So I will take Obama at his word that he is "Christian".I question why Obama as a Christian has said it is his duty to rehabilitate Islam's shabby image. As a Christian shouldn't Obama be working to help his fellow Christians who are being persecuted by Muslims for no other reason then being Christian?

As for Obama's decision to not enforce the laws of US in regards to one group of illegal immigrants during an election year, I oppose his decision. The decision does not have the force of law which is why illegals are still being arrested in Arizona and chased out of Alabama. Obama's decision allows not just those with college degrees to remain in the US but also those illegals with up to three misdemeanors. I assume entering the country illegally is not included in the three misdemeanors. As entering the US illegally is a CRIME. It is a federal misdemeanor the first time and a federal felony punishable by imprisonment if an illegal reenters after being deported.I also wonder why Obama would give work permits to 800,000 people who have broken the law while there are 23 mil American CITIZENS who are unemployed. The DREAM act has been around for over 10 years, at various times it has been supported by President Bush and President Obama. Yet in over 10 years it managed to pass only one House of Congress during a lame duck session. The reason the DREAM act cannot pass is because American CITIZENS don't want it.Like many Americans I support those immigrants who come to the US LEGALLY with no misdemeanors on the record.

Ignorant racist ethnically-European Western Leftists think that the occurrance of what they think of as being people thinking that Barack Obama is a Muslim is because of "the color of" Barack Obama's "skin" and because of what, to ignorant racist ethnically-European Western Leftists, is Barack Obama's "exotic name and background".

Tarek Fatah: Islamism; Obama administration has been infiltrated by the Muslim Brotherhood
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcAPX8GtELI

(Tarek Fatah is a liberal democrat, self-professed Marxist, truly "moderate" Muslim (non-Sharia-proponent Muslim (non-orthodox Muslim)).

It's maddeningly frustrating. It's infuriating. What's happening now is similar to what happened in the 1930's. In the 1930's, the West, as a whole, supported and enabled the Nazi regime of Germany. In the 1930's, in Western countries, including in the United States of America, people who expressed opposition to the Western collusion with the Nazi regime of Germany were called "warmongers". That was caused because the perverse false belief that: "The Jews are evil and powerful, and control the world, and control the government of the United States of America, and are mongering for war against the Wronged Maligned Noble Germans who are nobly redeveloping their own nation." was widely held in Western countries, including in the United States of America. The belief in that perverse false belief was largely based on belief in the narrative that was widely propagated by the European racist propaganda fictional anti-Jewish book "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion", and which was widely held by very many Westerners, including by leaders of the governments of Western countries, in the 1920's and 1930's.

However, what's happening now is worse.

Nazis of this era -- Islamic supremacists -- are taking over the world, including the governments of Western states -- and, as and integral part of that, imbecilic racist sanctimonious Westerner Leftists are witlessly supporting them, and therein, enabling them (and Western non-Leftist members of the "Establishment" social classes of Western societies are wittingly supporting them and enabling them).

The perverse belief that is fueling all of this is the perverse false belief, held, and propagated, by Westerners (members of the governments of Western countries, Western journalists, Western academics, etc.) that: "The Jews are Evil and Powerful, and stole the land of, and are persecuting, the Beatific Noble 'Palestinian' Arabs'; and the Evil Powerful Jews have been, and are being, supported by the government of the United States of America; and the Evil Powerful Jews control the government of the United States of America; and the Beatific Noble 'Palestinian' Arabs are being justly avenged by the Noble Savage Warriors; and we must oppose the Evil Powerful Jews and we must oppose everyone who supports the Evil Powerful Jews, and we must defend the Beatific Noble 'Palestinian' Arabs and everyone who defends the Beatific Noble 'Palestinian' Arabs."

In order to stop this madness, the true factual history and current reality of the situation that Israel is in needs to be communicated to the West.

I think the 44% who say they don't know Obama's religion have probably given the most responsible answer. What politicians say about their religious beliefs when addressing the American public is not particularly compelling evidence of anything other than that they want to get elected as president, and are prudent enough to either claim to be Christian, or if not Christian then downplay that fact and say a few nice things about Christianity.

My take on this is that Obama is at most a social Christian; he is not likely someone who literally believes that God exists or that Christ performed physics-defying miracles etc. He's doing what he needs to do, and saying what he needs to say, as part of the hypocrisy and theater of politics. He's a guy who goes with the flow, who doesn't rock the boat, and who cares a great deal about whether others like him.

Likewise, Obama's statements to the Muslim world are a combination of (what he believes to be) prudent politics and diplomacy, and a desire to be liked by everyone. Thus religion to him--as with most politicians--is something ambiguous that can be adjusted, fudged, shifted around, and negotiated. It's a tool. You can use it to support yourself or to attack a rival. I'll put it this way: If the U.S. were a majority Muslim country, and Obama were running for president, would say he was a Muslim (in the same way he says he's a Christian in the present situation).

Obama is not just any Christian; he is a soft, loose, hazy, ambiguous one. It's not high on his list of priorities. In other words, he's not "too Christian," i.e., he's not a fundamentalist or an evangelist, not a literalist, not a zealot. That wouldn't be cool. The mainstream media would make a mockery of him. Also, despite his "guns and religion" comment, he's not sufficiently or overtly a nonbeliever that the media would attack him over that. He's just vaguely Christian enough to be appealing (or at least not repellent) to the majority of voters. He has passed the informal religious test, so to speak.

Where Obama and his advisers have probably miscalculated is on his Islam speeches, such as the Cairo speech. If the Republicans, at the top level and in the mainstream media, were to make a big deal out of the fact that Obama is not sufficiently critical of human rights abuses in the Muslim world, for example, and press him on that during the presidential election campaign, particularly in the context of the Arab Spring etc., this could be advantageous to the Republicans. Unfortunately, Romney is still soft in this area.

Typical of the left-wing, they always thinl that everyone that does not agree with a black man is because is racist. They fail to understand that if not everybody agree with Obama is because Obama is not a reliable person.
I tend to think that Obama is a dhimmi more than a muslim.

Crucially important to know and understand:

Arab Israeli journalist Khaled Abu Toameh (who is now pro-Israel, but who, apparently, used to be pro-PLO, and who used to work at a PLO newspaper, and who is the son of a 'Palestinian' Arab mother and an Arab Israeli father) has said that when he reported about financial corruption of the PLO to Westerners (I think Western journalists and editors) when he worked at the PLO newspaper at which he used to work, those Westerners (I think Western journalists and editors) refused to report that which he reported to them, and accused him of being on the payroll of "the Jews" and accused him of being on the payroll of "the Zionists".

Anti-Semitism 2.0, by Mudar Zahran, 'Palestinian' Arab writer and academic from Jordan who currently lives in the U.K. as a political refugee
http://www.stonegateinstitute.org/1979/anti-semitism-20

"The concept of the 'evil Jew' has made a well-disguised comeback: Criticizing Israel and Zionists, is now deemed a legitimate option to cursing Jews and Judaism. Not only is it open, socially acceptable and legal, but it can actually bring prosperity and popularity. This new form of anti-Semitism 2.0 is well-covered-up, harder to trace and poses a much deeper danger to the modern way of life of the civilized world than the earlier crude form of it, as it slowly and gradually works on delegitimizing Jews to the point where it eventually becomes acceptable to target Jews, first verbally, then physically -- all done in a cosmopolitan style where the anti-Semites are well-groomed speakers and headline writers in jackets and ties; and not just Arab, but American and European, from 'sanitized' news coverage of the most bloodthirsty radicals, to charges against Israel in which facts are distorted, selectively omitted or simply untrue, as in former President Jimmy Carter's book on Israel. ..."

Kasim Haffeez:

"I've always said that, with Israel advocacy, we're not getting the truth out there..." "...It's very sad. It really is; because a lot of this hatred and intolerance comes from ignorance. People do not know the facts..." "...Israel can do no right in the U.K. press. Israel always is wrong, and everything always has a very negative slant. It's become very 'black and white', where the 'Palestinians' are right, and Israel is wrong...again, it's helping poisoning people towards Israel because they're not being told the truth of the conflict. ..." "...I think there's a case of: 'if you tell the lie enough times, people accept it as being true'; and, people just don't know; and, it's so key that we get the facts out there. You know, we're sitting here in the Middle East's only liberal democracy, where there are no restriction on what people can believe. People vote for their leaders. People of all colors, all races, all backgrounds co-exist here...and, people [outside of Israel] just don't know. So, we need to get the truth out there. We have to show, especially in Europe, that this is a liberal democracy. This is the ideals that bind us together; and if we don't stand up for liberal democracy, then what are we really -- what are we standing up for?"

Listen to it all

Slate: People think Obama is a Muslim because of "his exotic name and background" and "the color of his skin"
.................................

What crap. No one, for instance, believes that Condoleeza Rice, say, is a Muslim—despite her "exotic" name and the color of her skin. (She is also not particularly Islamo-savvy, but that is an entirely separate issue.)

Obama does have a Muslim name. He is the son of a Muslim, if not a particularly observant one.

His step-father was *also* Muslim, and young Barack attended both mosque and Qur'an classes. He was listed as "Muslim" in his Indonesian school records. He can recite Muslim prayers and the Adnan (Muslim call to prayer) from memory, and did so very smoothly in an interview. He describes the Adnan as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

His father being Muslim is enough for many Muslims to consider him Muslim—although some few would argue that since he likely fell away from Islam before he reached adulthood, that he is not.

Now, I have no reason to believe that his mother practiced Islam after she had moved on from these men, and certainly Obama's grandparents, who raised him as an older child, were not Muslim—instead, they were radical leftists and "small c" Christian.

As an adult in Chicago, Obama became involved in a church that practiced radical "liberation theology", and has substantive links to the vicious Nation of Islam.

So—is Obama Muslim?

Probably not in the strict sense of his being a practicing "believer".

But neither do I believe it is irrational or "ignorant" to consider him Muslim. Hard leftists like to pretend that considering him Muslim is just absurd, but the fact is that his ties to Islam are many.

Also seldom mentioned is the fact that many *Muslims* also regard him as Muslim.

And—as that long and baleful list provided by Mr. Spencer makes clear—it may ultimately matter little whether Obama is literally a practicing Muslim or not.

How is it likely that his record would much differ in either case?

Exactly, Muslims do consider him to be Muslim. He certainly does seem to be working hard to promote the Muslim agenda, praising Islam and bowing to Islamic leaders. And of course, the most beautiful sound to his ears is the Muslim call to prayer. He grew up in a Muslim country, went to a madrassah, and prayed in a mosque.

He grew up in a Muslim country, oh please, he lived in Indonesia from his 4 - 10 birthday. After that he lived in Hawaii with his grandparents.
10 years of age till 18 are more forming years.
What could he do with his stepfather being a Muslim, be disrespectful at that age, give me brake.
Of course he is respectful of Islam, since he has relatives in Kenya who practice Islam.
His own father left Islam, his grandfather in Kenya who was a Catholic converted to Islam after being tortured by the English.
I believe Obama is more agnostic. But how can he say that in this hateful country.
Religion nothing else but trouble.

"Oh, please explain if he is not a Muslim then why would he keep a Muslim name??? Any clue, Sherlock??

How many non-Muslims keep a Muslim name?? Zero, zilch"

That's the most fantastical leap of logic I've heard in a long time. For one Obama is a Kenyan name, not a Muslim name. Second of all, are you insinuating that everyone who was born with a Muslim name should feel obliged to change it if they are no longer Muslim? What about the famous apostate and counter jihadist Ayaan Hirsi Ali? Are you insinuating that she is still a secret Muslim because she kept her name? You really need to take some lessons in rudimentary logic and do some research before opening your mouth.

Obama is a dhimmi, no ifs, ands or buts.

"According to a number of reports, Obama is a gifted exponent of the Arabian martial art of Taqiyya. He is well accomplished in the many fighting styles of Taqiyya including Deceit, Back-peddling, Double-talk, Overt smiling, Stealth Hyperexuality and Sedition."

Altering one prefix, we have a description of our "first black President" Bill Clinton, who perhaps was also our "first Muslim president"...

"Can anyone explain the benefits to the US of deporting to Mexico English-speaking university-graduates who consider themselves Americans, don't speak Spanish, and have never been to Mexico?"

You forgot to mention that these mythical Mexicans are Nobel-prize winners, contribute to scientific and technological innovations, volunteer at soup kitchens, and help little old ladies across the street.

"Tarek Fatah is a liberal democrat, self-professed Marxist, truly "moderate" Muslim (non-Sharia-proponent Muslim (non-orthodox Muslim)"

You forgot the /sarc.

If you're serious, you've been living in a time capsule this past decade.

Hi S.B you said "According to a number of reports, Obama is a gifted exponent of the Arabian martial art of Taqiyya"

I think the formal name It Taq-kwan-do although some have argued that he created his own version called Taq-kwan-do-head.

You also forgot to mention his mastery of the Ninja art of secret infiltration and subversion CAIRate. It is claimed he has a very high ranking in this art but no one knows for sure. His records on this matter are sealed.

"Obama is not just any Christian; he is a soft, loose, hazy, ambiguous one. It's not high on his list of priorities. In other words, he's not "too Christian," i.e., he's not a fundamentalist or an evangelist, not a literalist, not a zealot. "

That would be the majority of Western Christians today.

The following video is a video of a recent brief interview with Pakistani-British, truly "moderate" Muslim (non-Sharia-proponent Muslim (non-orthodox Muslim)), former anti-Jewish racist, former Jihadi-ideology-indoctrinated, now advocate for Israel, Kasim Haffeez...

Wow, you've got a lot of these strange species up your sleeve.

Also, let's not forget he is a master of the 'art of abandoning Israel' known as Jew-do-n't. He also knows the older art of garnering votes from the American Jewish population while working against their best interests: JewTricksu.

He grew up in a Muslim country, oh please, he lived in Indonesia from his 4 - 10 birthday...

Indonesia has the most Muslims per capita of any nation on Earth (India has the most in gross numbers -- pun intended).

...

"What could he do with his stepfather being a Muslim, be disrespectful at that age, give me brake.
Of course he is respectful of Islam, since he has relatives in Kenya who practice Islam."

First, let's substitute "Nazi" for "Muslim" and "Nazism" for "Islam" in Maria's sentence, to bring out the ludicrousness of her little outburst:

"What could he do with his stepfather being a Nazi, be disrespectful at that age, give me brake.
Of course he is respectful of Nazism, since he has relatives in Kenya who practice Nazism."

Secondly, let us remind ourselves that Islam is a thousand times worse than Nazism, and ditto for the comparison between Muslims and Nazis.

What was Maria thinking?

"His own father left Islam, his grandfather in Kenya who was a Catholic converted to Islam after being tortured by the English."

Ah, now we see a glimmer of the source of her curiously tortured logic. Hatred of the West.

"I believe Obama is more agnostic. But how can he say that in this hateful country."

And hatred of America.

LemonLime,

Have you watched the video?

Tarek Fatah is truly authentically liberal. He is defending liberal democracy. He is opposing the Islamic supremacist political movement (which, in fact, is a revival of authoritative Islam), and he is opposing the Western collusion with the Islamic supremacist political movement. However, he like many Muslims is psychologically culturally attached to Islam, as what he, and many other Muslims, view being Muslim as being part of their culture, and, as part of that, he is in denial that the Islamic supremacist political movement is a revival of what, in fact, is authoritative Islam. Furthermore, he like many self-professed Marxists, and, especially, like many non-Western Marxists, is ignorant of the totalitarian and supremacist nature of Marxism.

However, Tarek Fatah is truly authentically liberal, and he is defending liberal democracy, and he is defending liberal democracies, such as the U.S.A. and Canada, and he is opposing the Islamic supremacist political movement, and he is opposing the Western collusion with the Islamic supremacist political movement. It is precisely people such as Tarek Fatah who are Muslim who those of us who are not Muslim who are aware of the nature of, and of the existence of, the Islamic supremacist political movement, and of the Western collusion with the Islamic supremacist political movement, and who are opposing the Islamic supremacist political movement, and who are opposing the Western collusion with the Islamic supremacist political movement, should be supporting.

It is people such as Tarek Fatah who could be on the vanguard of, and the most influential persons in, ending the Western collusion with the Islamic supremacist movement, and, therein, ending the Islamic supremacist political movement.

Furthermore, it is people such as Tarek Fatah who are the first on the chopping block by the Islamic supremacist political movement.

In genocidal totalitarian supremacist political movements, it is always the dissenting members of the group committing genocide who are the first to be targeted and killed. This is what happening in the Holocaust.

I'm Jewish. I've learned the lessons of the Holocaust. However, most people, including very many Jewish people, have not done so.

Correction:

...This is what happened in the Holocaust. ...

Yes, we must be cautious. But, we must be discerning.

Furthermore,

We can tactfully, beneficially, verbally challenge wrong views held by those who, in fact, are our allies such as Tarek Fatah, but we should support and empower those who, in fact, are our allies such as Tarek Fatah.

Tarek Fatah reveres Mohammed and the Koran. He is either strangely psychotic; or he is lying to us. Either way, he's an unreliable ally.

There is no third alternative.

Hi D.B. thanx for the link to your site, it was a good visit. I did a bit of snooping around and unless I missed something it appears that there is an important other "Why are these facts not known?" topic which you need to cover (and in depth).

I am referring to the topic of the "Myth of Palestine". I have argued this topic with a number of liberal leftists over the years and it is appalling how little history they know. I can only conclude that their professors were hiding the true history of 'Palestine' in their lectures.

At Jihad Watch, about a year ago, I got into a debate with someone who logged in as 'Real Jew' on this topic. I handled the topic the ahistoricity of 'Palestine' as well as I could in an already overly long comment. Perhaps you could dedicate a page on your blog that builds on what I tried to tell 'Real Jew'.

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/07/egypt-the-best-way-to-eliminate-someone-politically-is-to-accuse-him-of-having-ties-with-israel.html#comment-803820

One thing I left out of my comments was the fact that Herodotus, the ancient Greek historian (5th Century B.C.E.) mentioned a region in Syria called Παλαιστίνη i.e. Palaistine or Palestine. I omitted this reference because my reply was already excessively long and to fully explain it would have taken considerable effort and space.

Herodotus says in Book 2, Part 104:

. . . only the Colchians, the Egyptians, and the Ethiopians have practiced circumcision from the earliest times. The Phoenicians and the Syrians of Palestine agree that they have learned this practice from the Egyptians."

Herodotus was talking about the Jews when he mentions Palestine.

Now, some Muslims might try to argue otherwise but Herodotus was aware of the Arabians and also covered them in his Histories and it is clear from that coverage that the Arabs (potential Muslims for the disingenuous) are not present in Syria. That is not to say there weren't visiting merchants and the like to trade in spices, ointments and the like but it is clear that the Arabians as a people were not in the region called Palestine but the Jews of the Bible were (not that anyone reasonably educated doubts that).

The following link provides information on what the ancient authors tell us about Arabians. It is extensive enough to rule out an Arabian presence in Palestine.

http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/ancient/arabia1.asp

Another important consideration in this 'story' is just who the Philistines were. Archaeology and philology have opened up a new understanding of these people and from documentaries I have seen, the old Testament was very uncharitable to them. Their society was quite sophisticated for that period of history and they seemed to little resemble the uncivilized barbarians stereotype of the Old Testament. That of course is not so important to the discussion but I think it is worth noting.

What is clear from the archaeology is that the Philistines for whom the region was later named were not Arabic or related in any way with the modern day Palestinians. They weren't even Semitic but were most likely Indo-European. Some have even suggested they might have been an offshoot of the Achaeans, the Greek's of the time of the Trojan War. This identification is in part based on philology but also on the timing of their appearance in that region of the 'Middle East' which coincided with the appearance of the "Sea People raiders" who included Achaeans displaced by invasions of mainland Greece.

Although just a quick overview, the Wikipedia article on the Philistines is worth a read. It is also a good jump-off point if you decide to discuss the myth of Palestine on your site.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philistines

So judged on what I've seen of your site, you could make the Myth of Palestine an interesting and educational read for those who love history and you can make it a thumbing of your nose at the Palestinian pseudo-historians and their ilk.

I assume by your knowledge of Terak Fetah that you are a fellow Canadian. I agree with our assessment of him as do most Canadians.

You also might have mentioned that Terak Fetah was in the front of the battle to stop Ontario's implementation of components of Sharia Law (e.g. sharia marriage law, family law, and inheritance law).

If you are a Canadian, you may also know that Michael Coren, who appears at Jihad Watch regularly, is a friend of Tarek Fetah and judges him to be a very important activist in the anti-Islamization movement. So like you, Coren is able to see Fetah in the proper light. I'm glad you brought up his name.

Seeing as you were so nice to do so, I thought you might enjoy the following interviews between Terak Fetah and Michael Coren:

Finally, there is Terak Fetah's blog Nosharia

If Americans keep trying to appease Muslims, anything is possible. The day may come when we are either Muslim or dead.

Islam will not rest until the entire world is subjugated under Islamic rule.

If he WAS a Muslim, would he be doing anything differently?

Dear Peter,

I apologize for not replying to you earlier.

Thank you for your appreciation of what I have written on my site. I'm glad that what I have written you have found helpful.

And, thank you for your pointing out what you pointed out is good to communicate, and important to communicate, and thank you for the information that you wrote pertaining to that -- the information that you wrote about the invention of the word, and concept, "Palestine".

At the time of the posting of your comment to me, I actually had written, in an article on my site, a little bit of that which you expressed is good to communicate, and important to communicate. In that article on my site, I wrote what, it is my understanding are, facts of the history of Israel which are facts that include basic hitherto well-known (well-known prior to the contemporary global massive campaign of racist ideologically genocidal anti-Jewish disinformation) facts about the origin of the word, and concept, "Palestine".

The following article is the article in which I wrote that information.

Israel - A Brief Summary of the History of the Situation
http://danielbielak.blogspot.com/2011/03/israel-brief-summary-of-history-of_17.html

And, actually, I'm not Canadian. I'm from the U.S.

But, I'm glad that, in Canada, there are authentically liberal good people such as you. :)

Best wishes,

Dan

I wrote, in the first one of my previous comments, the following:

"Ignorant racist ethnically-European Western Leftists think that the occurrance [sic] of what they think of as being people thinking that Barack Obama is a Muslim is because of 'the color of' Barack Obama's 'skin' and because of what, to ignorant racist ethnically-European Western Leftists, is Barack Obama's 'exotic name and background'."

Firstly: I realize that that writing which I wrote was harsh harmful speech, and, therein, wrong speech. Even as I was writing that writing which I wrote, I felt that my writing that writing which I was writing was harmful and wrong, but I was frustrated and distressed, and I wrote that writing anyway because I was frustrated and distressed. The cause of the distress that I was feeling was my seeing the detrimental behavior of the members of the contemporary political Left. However, that writing which I wrote was harsh wrong speech.

I apologize for the wrong action that I did in my writing that harsh wrong speech which I wrote.

Secondly: to clarify, to those who may have not understood: I was not expressing that I believe that Barack Obama is Muslim. I don't believe that Barack Obama is Muslim. That is: I don't believe that Barack Obama is a devout Muslim. That is: I don't believe that Barack Obama is an adherent of Islam.

Also, I wrote:

"Nazis of this era -- Islamic supremacists -- are taking over the world, including the governments of Western states -- and, as and integral part of that, imbecilic racist sanctimonious Westerner Leftists are witlessly supporting them, and therein, enabling them (and Western non-Leftist members of the "Establishment" social classes of Western societies are wittingly supporting them and enabling them)."

To clarify, to those who may have not understood: I was not referring to Barack Obama in that which I wrote in which I referred to Islamic supremacists. Barack Obama is not an Islamic supremacist. Barack Obama is a Leftist -- a "culturally Muslim" Leftist. And Barack Obama, in being the President of the United States of America, has been the most influential of the contemporary Leftists who are supporting and enabling the members of the Islamic supremacist political movement.

----

Those of us who are Jewish and who are standing up for the Jewish people who are the universally libeled mortally endangered Jewish people of this generation -- the Jewish people in the newly re-founded, continuously intendedly genocidally besieged, universally libeled, liberal democratic very small sole nation of the Jewish people -- don't have the luxury of being able (being allowed) to, like normal human beings, vent frustration and distress, and don't the luxury of being able to express ourselves not perfectly clearly, without that which we have expressed being misconstrued by those who believe libels about the nation of the Jewish people, and who, therefore, and therein, hate the nation of the Jewish people, without our expressing that which we have expressed thereby resulting in harm.

This applies also to people who are not Jewish but who are standing up for the Jewish people who are the universally libeled mortally endangered Jewish people of this generation -- the Jewish people in the newly-re-founded, continuously intendedly genocidally besieged, universally libeled, liberal democratic very small sole nation of the Jewish people.

The Left, in general, as a whole, have become mean and totalitarian -- and, involved with that, have become indoctrinated with racist huge perverse lies that vilify the nation of the Jewish people (lies which, ironically, were originally developed and propagated largely by members of the then-so-called "Right-Wing" governing class of the U.S. (the members of the State Department, senior members of the C.I.A., and the members of U.S. executive administrations -- throughout the past several decades)) -- therefore, and therein, those of us who are the targets of the warped perception and libelous slander and censorious efforts of the contemporary Left (and who, now, are also targets of the Western non-Left colluders with the contemporary Islamic supremacist political movement), don't have the luxury of being able to, like normal human beings, vent frustration and distress without our doing so resulting in our doing so being antipathetically wrongly perceived by the contemporary Left, and therein, resulting in bad results; and don't have the luxury of being able to express ourselves not perfectly clearly without our doing so resulting in our doing so being antipathetically wrongly perceived by the contemporary Left, and therein, resulting in bad results. So, therefore, and therein, those of us who are the targets of the warped perception and libelous slander and censorious efforts of the contemporary Left (and who, now, are also targets of the Western non-Left colluders with the contemporary Islamic supremacist political movement) should not write or speak in any such way that will result in bad results.

No wrong action should be done. Only right action should be done.

BTW: I used to take for granted that I was what I now call "contemporary 'Liberal'". However, after seeing the recent behavior of the contemporary Left, and after, subsequently, learning certain facts of the history and nature of the political Left and of contemporary "Liberalism", which are facts that I didn't know previously, I no longer consider myself to be what I now call "contemporary 'Liberal'". However, the political views that I now hold are, I think, a balance between those of Classical Liberalism (individual liberty) and those of Social Liberalism (help to those who need help).

An article written, in 2002, by the late Oriana Fallaci -- an Italian journalist who opposed fascism, and who fought against fascism, and who fought, as a partisan, against the Nazi-German-allied Fascist regime of Italy during World War II, and who, in the 1960's, in being, at that time, a trendy Leftist, supported "the 'Palestinian' cause":

Sull Antisemitismo - Io trovo vergognoso (Vergognosi gli attacchi a Israele)

(On Antisemitism - I find it shameful (Shameful attacks on Israel)),

by Orianna Falaci

An audio recording of a reading of the article, a reading by Oriana Fallaci:

Part 1 of 2
http://www.youtube.com/embed/lS9Dl5YEy3o

Part 2 of 2
http://www.youtube.com/embed/anTPuAQ1oUU

The text of the article:

http://www.oerby.dk/sider/Oriana%20Fallaci.htm

Excerpts:

"...I find it shameful (we're back in Italy) that state-run television stations contribute to the resurgent anti-Semitism, crying only over Palestinian deaths while playing down Israeli deaths, glossing over them in unwilling tones.

"I find it shameful that in their debates they [state-run television stations in Italy] host with much deference the scoundrels with turban or kaffiah who yesterday sang hymns to the slaughter at New York and today sing hymns to the slaughters at Jerusalem, at Haifa, at Netanya, at Tel Aviv. I find it shameful that the press does the same, that it is indignant because Israeli tanks surround the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, that it is not indignant because inside that same church two hundred Palestinian terrorists well armed with machine guns and munitions and explosives (among them are various leaders of Hamas and Al-Aqsa) are not unwelcome guests of the monks (who then accept bottles of mineral water and jars of honey from the soldiers of those tanks). I find it shameful that, in giving the number of Israelis killed since the beginning of the Second Intifada (four hundred and twelve) [approximately one thousand by the year 2005], a noted daily newspaper found it appropriate to underline in capital letters that more people are killed in their traffic accidents. (Six hundred a year)."

"...I find it shameful that almost all of the left, the left that twenty years ago permitted one of its union processionals to deposit a coffin (as a Mafioso warning) in front of the synagogue of Rome, forgets the contribution made by the Jews to the fight against fascism. Made by Carlo and Nello Rossini, for example, by Leone Ginzburg, by Umberto Terracini, by Leo Valiani, by Emilio Sereni, by women like my friend Anna Maria Enriques Agnoletti who was shot at Florence on June 12, 1944, by seventy-five of the three-hundred-thirty-five people killed at the Fosse Ardeatine, by the infinite others killed under torture or in combat or before firing squads. (The companions, the teachers, of my infancy and my youth.) I find it shameful that in part through the fault of the left--or rather, primarily through the fault of the left (think of the left that inaugurates its congresses applauding the representative of the PLO, leader in Italy of the Palestinians who want the destruction of Israel)--Jews in Italian cities are once again afraid. And in French cities and Dutch cities and Danish cities and German cities, it is the same. I find it shameful that Jews tremble at the passage of the scoundrels dressed like suicide bombers just as they trembled during Krystallnacht, the night in which Hitler gave free rein to the Hunt of the Jews. I find it shameful that in obedience to the stupid, vile, dishonest, and for them extremely advantageous fashion of Political Correctness, the usual opportunists - or better the usual parasites - exploit the word Peace. That in the name of the word Peace, by now more debauched than the words Love and Humanity, they absolve one side alone of its hate and bestiality. That in the name of a pacifism (read conformism) delegated to the singing crickets and buffoons who used to lick Pol Pot's feet they incite people who are confused or ingenuous or intimidated. Trick them, corrupt them, carry them back a half-century to the time of the yellow star on the coat. These charlatans who care about the Palestinians as much as I care about the charlatans. That is not at all.

"I find it shameful that many Italians and many Europeans have chosen as their standard-bearer the gentleman (or so it is polite to say) Arafat. This nonentity who thanks to the money of the Saudi Royal Family plays the Mussolini ad perpetuum and in his megalomania believes he will pass into History as the George Washington of Palestine. This ungrammatical wretch who when I interviewed him was unable even to put together a complete sentence, to make articulate conversation. So that to put it all together, write it, publish it, cost me a tremendous effort and I concluded that compared to him even Ghaddafi sounds like Leonardo da Vinci. This false warrior who always goes around in uniform like Pinochet, never putting on civilian garb, and yet despite this has never participated in a battle. War is something he sends, has always sent, others to do for him. That is, the poor souls who believe in him. This pompous incompetent who playing the part of Head of State caused the failure of the Camp David negotiations, Clinton's mediation.

"No-no-I-want-Jerusalem-all-to-myself. This eternal liar who has a flash of sincerity only when (in private) he denies Israel's right to exist, and who as I say in my book contradicts himself every five minutes. He always plays the double-cross, lies even if you ask him what time it is, so that you can never trust him. Never! With him you will always wind up systematically betrayed. This eternal terrorist who knows only how to be a terrorist (while keeping himself safe) and who during the Seventies, that is when I interviewed him, even trained the terrorists of Baader-Meinhof. With them, children ten years of age. Poor children. (Now he trains them to become suicide bombers. A hundred baby suicide bombers are in the works: a hundred!). This weathercock who keeps his wife at Paris, served and revered like a queen, and keeps his people down in the shit. He takes them out of the shit only to send them to die, to kill and to die, like the eighteen year old girls who in order to earn equality with men have to strap on explosives and disintegrate with their victims. And yet many Italians love him, yes. Just like they loved Mussolini. And many other Europeans do the same.

"I find it shameful and see in all this the rise of a new fascism, a new Nazism. A fascism, a Nazism, that much more grim and revolting because it is conducted and nourished by those who hypocritically pose as do-gooders, progressives, communists, pacifists, Catholics or rather Christians, and who have the gall to label a warmonger anyone like me who screams the truth. ..."

And Again:

A video of a recent brief interview with Kasim Haffeez -- a Pakistani-British, truly "moderate" Muslim (non-Sharia-proponent Muslim (non-orthodox Muslim)), former anti-Jewish racist, former Jihadi-ideology-indoctrinated, now advocate for Israel:

Muslim & Zionist! Kasim Hafeez: "Israel is the only liberal democracy in ME"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSP2_EsDmyc

Excerpts:

People of all colors, all races, all backgrounds co-exist here...and, people just don't know. So, we need to get the truth out there. We have to show, especially in Europe, that this is a liberal democracy. This is the ideals that bind us together; and if we don't stand up for liberal democracy, then what are we really -- what are we standing up for?"

And Again:

An article by Mudar Zahran -- a 'Palestinian' Arab writer and academic from Jordan who currently lives in the U.K. as a political refugee:

Anti-Semitism 2.0, by Mudar Zahran

http://www.stonegateinstitute.org/1979/anti-semitism-20

"The concept of the 'evil Jew' has made a well-disguised comeback: Criticizing Israel and Zionists, is now deemed a legitimate option to cursing Jews and Judaism. Not only is it open, socially acceptable and legal, but it can actually bring prosperity and popularity. This new form of anti-Semitism 2.0 is well-covered-up, harder to trace and poses a much deeper danger to the modern way of life of the civilized world than the earlier crude form of it, as it slowly and gradually works on delegitimizing Jews to the point where it eventually becomes acceptable to target Jews, first verbally, then physically -- all done in a cosmopolitan style where the anti-Semites are well-groomed speakers and headline writers in jackets and ties; and not just Arab, but American and European, from 'sanitized' news coverage of the most bloodthirsty radicals, to charges against Israel in which facts are distorted, selectively omitted or simply untrue, as in former President Jimmy Carter's book on Israel. ..."
